I think it’s Cool, it shows he’s not tied down to them and that he can be more mysterious like Boba and still be a badass, bit having to follow their code only the blunter Hunter code as he’s a bounty Hunter.
It's not really that he isn't Mandalorian. More that he's an outcast. There is so many different Mandalorian faction with different rules and methods that all considers the others to not be true Mandalorians.
I feel like Lucas only did that to spite Boba fans, because he didn't really like how a small side character with few lines/scenes became more popular than most of the main characters. Probably thought taking away Jango's Mandalorian status would in turn ruin Boba's popularity.
where the hell do i begin here. Jango is my second favorite Star Wars character. Episode II drew me in, Bounty Hunter got me hooked and the comics sealed the deal. he is a very interesting character. yeah he is a bounty hunter, but one with a code of Honor. and a loving father ( theres a comic where he gets back from a mission and Boba want to play but Fett has to head out again. but still chooses to play with his son ). hell i barely knew who Boba was till Jango appeared. after seeing how bad ass he was i wanted to learn more about his son. which yeah he is also a bad ass. this was an awesome vid. thank you so much for making it.
In the uncut version jango blocked 2 strikes of windu with his gauntlets and tried to buy time to use his jet pack but he failed and got beheaded anyway.
Honestly, I think Jango was disavowed as a Mandalorian because of Almec’s machinations. Maybe Almec was a member of Death Watch this whole time and wanted to wipe away any remnants of the true warriors of Mandalore by disavowing those who became honorable bounty hunters and mercenaries. When Jango single-handedly wrecked Tor Vizsla’s Death Watch, this was probable cause for Almec to destroy Jango’s legacy.
Like a lot of characters in Star wars, I mean Darth Maul said one line in Phantom Menace and then they brought him back and made him a huge part of the clone wars and put him in the solo movie at the end.
I think so too. The way Mando acted. He was ready to blast Cobb just for wearing it. Either that or Mando's going to be super pissed when he finds out that he did all that work for budget Mandalorian armor. Haha
@@Mandalor10 I think he referred to it as bescar and is the reason it was important to getting rid of the invaders. It also shows them shoot it and it doesn't damage it.
I wonder though, because maybe durasteel deflects blaster bolts to a lesser degree. I know that Boba did change pieces of the armor throughout his career based on the books and shows
Bobas armor isn’t Jango’s, he blew up Jango’s armor trying to kill mace windu. So we don’t know where boba got his armor. There’s a theory that he was adopted by mandalorians in his teen years.
I honestly don’t care what Lucas said about Jango‘s backstory at this point. With 90% of the storytelling in your universe is done by others, it’s done collaboratively, and you’re making bank off of it, in my opinion you lose some of your pope level interpretation authority. If he suddenly said Luke was actually Kenobi’s son that should be ignored because it’s obviously incorrect- Anakin and Padme were married, Leia is Luke’s twin and is also confirmed to be a Skywalker, Kenobi didn’t have that kind of relationship with Padme, Kylo, Luke’s nephew, is confirmed to be the grandson of Anakin, etc... Even Lucas shouldn’t have been able to change dozens of books, comics, and game’s lore on a whim.
Completely agree. He put his name on a story and we paid money for it. His attempt to change the story is a betrayal of the people that laid down good money for his story. So, the story is already out, he endorsed it with his name and cashed the checks. Too late Mr. Lucas.
@@2apocalypse-X its pretty easy to say “lol chill out” to others about a subject they are passionate about, even though i doubt you would appreciate me telling you to stop being passionate about whatever it is that you like.
@@2apocalypse-X I really don’t see the anger in my comment, there isn’t any intentionally there either. I am passionate about the topic- the Fett’s have some of the most fleshed out backstories of any characters in Star Wars, especially when you consider how little screen time they both had. As a creative myself, and as someone who discovered the joy of reading largely through Karen Traviss (who on multiple occasions Lucas happily took the profits of her stories and then decanonized them as soon as something more profitable could take their place) so any time I hear about, “well George said this”, or “well that one source book (many of whom contradict or give out wildly unbelievable numbers) said that” I naturally find that highly irritating. How dare someone give someone permission to permanently add to your mythos, make tons of money off their hard work, and as soon as something else comes along you say “sike” to them and their fans. Maybe the most egregious example is that Obi-Wan Kenobi had a fleshed out backstory about being from Couruscsant and then Lucas said on the Jon Stewart show that he was from “StewJon” and the Star Wars universe had to completely remove a story and change reference books to create a new world, change his backstory, and decanonize stories so that it could fit an off handed comment from George.
AlmeC said that Jango Fett was a common thug, and didn't recognize him as a Mandalorian , that's true. But the exact same man would not have recognize any Death Watch members as mandalorian either. In this 2019 interview Dave Filoni makes a point to say that Jango is not Mandalorian by BLOOD. Dave does mention that there were foundlings that were not "True" Mandalorians in that regard, so Jango could've been a foundling like Din (and sorta like in Legends)

Book of Boba Fett confirmed that his armor is Beskar and not Durasteel. Wonder when that canon change was
The shows are taking loads of liberties with what they consider canon and not. Taking inspiration from both the clone wars and the books/comics. I mean before the mandalorian show any and all mandalorians could remove their helmet .
Ah, but now The Book of Boba Fett calls Boba's armor beskar, and The Mandelorian, Boba refers to his armor as belonging to his father
Jango Fett is probably one of the most important bounty hunters in Star Wars because he is the creator of the clone army.
He created Rex, Cody, faie, doom, thorn, and millions of other clones.
We have failed as a community if people don't know Jango is Boba's dad.

Two years prior and you called the Boba Fett spin-off show. Way to go and very cool video.
I hate how they just retconned him into not being a Mandalorian.. What purpose does that serve other than to hurt the characters reputation and overall story. It makes him less appealing.
I never understood that.
Could they have done it to explain why boba was clumsy in return of the Jedi ?
I feel like Lucas only did that to spite Boba fans, because he didn't really like how a small side character with few lines/scenes became more popular than most of the main characters. Probably thought taking away Jango's Mandalorian status would in turn ruin Boba's popularity.
It's only for people to find out with the new boba fett series that is coming that will explain it all
where the hell do i begin here.
I was literally looking for a video exactly like this this morning and couldn’t find one.
"Your father was a Foundling."
"Yes.... He even fought in the Mandalorian Civil Wars."
Amazing how someone with so little lines in a film became one of the most popular characters in the entire franchise lol
Lol true
Like a lot of characters in Star wars, I mean Darth Maul said one line in Phantom Menace and then they brought him back and made him a huge part of the clone wars and put him in the solo movie at the end.
Seeing Boba in action again in The Tragedy was amazing
Star Wars Bounty Hunter was a fun game and the bloopers were hilarious.
I'm so glad this is out! Jango Fett is one of my favorite Star Wars characters!
I was teaching my class about the high ground but this is more important
Great video. We’ve watched Temuera go from a guy in his mid-30’s (ish) to his mid-50’s (ish)
That’s a REAL career defining role…
I think his armor is actually bescar now. Bobas armor acted like bescar in the mandalorian and it was originally jangos.
That's how it should be
I wonder though, because maybe durasteel deflects blaster bolts to a lesser degree.
Dude you are the best starwar channel there are great work!!!!!
Lucas.
@@nawalli lmao it’s not that serious.

@@2apocalypse-X its pretty easy to say “lol chill out” to others about a subject they are passionate about, even though i doubt you would appreciate me telling you to stop being passionate about whatever it is that you like.
@@2apocalypse-X
I really don’t see the anger in my comment, there isn’t any intentionally there either.
Here to praise that thumbnail. Just beautiful.
AlmeC said that Jango Fett was a common thug, and didn't recognize him as a Mandalorian , that's true.
But the exact same man would not have recognize any Death Watch members as mandalorian either.
Jango was from Concord Dawn , in Canon, wich is in Mandalorian territory. What would have been the opinon of Pre Vizla on Jango, that's a different question .
i mean we all know jango is a mandalorain despite what the new mandalorians say
Almech is also a black marketeer and sold out to Maul at the first chance he got. He has no honor and is no True Mando'a.
Do you have a canon source that says he is from Concord Dawn. I remember it in Legends but I thought that was retconned.
@@creeg8303 starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_The_Complete_Visual_Dictionary,_New_Edition says that Jango claimed to be from Concord Dawn. I take him as a much more valid source than Amoral Almech.
As mentionned, the visual dictionary (that I haven't read myself). Almec said that all of "all of the Mandalorian warriors where exiled and died on Concordia".
In my opinion, Fett was pretty much in a similar situation as Din Djarin. A guy with a mandalorian heritage, that has been kept all his life away from mainland Mandalore.
