Thanks for this video. I am just beginning my coin collecting as a 50 something. I have been roll hunting and filling “books” but I realized that they only have the one spot for P or D. They generally only show the reverse so I like the idea of the flips in an album that I can swap out coins and see everything. I also feel it will be a better way to store them.
I agree with most the video. I personally am making a set of those folders for my pennys, however I have a fancier version for my Ike's and nickels. I think folders are the better option, but I have 2×2 of specific coins/ varieties or of ones I don't have enough to start a book really. I think it comes to personal preference. I'll be watching more of your videos though, new sub!
I agree on using the 2 x 2’s and keeping them in the coin holder pages. I have opted to spend a bit more to get the pages with metal reinforced holes. My 2 cents worth…
Amateur here! Organizing a family members prized coin collection and want to do right by him but I have no idea! Please help! He would like me to use an album style so he can easily flip through so I'm thinking of 2x2s or acrylic storage to use in an album. He doesn't like the albums that have slide in/out plastic sleeves (hope that makes sense). Where can I get a good, simple album with vinyl pockets and which are the best ones? I'm also open to other suggestions!! Would like to get this done for him asap. He is almost 88. Thank you!!!!!
No contest, the 2x2 mylar window cardboard staple type are far superior to the cheap albums or even the premium ones as they can cause damage to the coins. The 2x2s do a great job of protecting coins while being relatively inexpensive.
Your sir are right. I have been collecting for near 60 years and have used all the above. I now have all my collections in Albums both The Green and Brown no name dropping. I have had to add 2x2 pages to my Type Set The Brown album company have pages to fit the album 12 2x2 will fit. I added 4 pages to complete my set. Storage of your coins is the key to collecting. Why would you bye a $1000.00 coin or one at face and not protect it. Take care and be safe.
2x2 flips have pvc in them, You may think that they protect your coins but that’s wrong. There are many recent videos about pvc being lethal for your coins. I know for sure Silver Picker made a vid about pvc so I recommend watching it or other vids.
BTW: The US has never minted a "penny" we make "cents" not pennies as that is a hold over from colonial times that persists in the US and Canada. The cardboard cheap albums do nothing to really protect you coins and will over time damage them. Use the 2x2s with crimped staples and store them in a good place inside your home.

I'm assuming there's some sort of 2×2 size equivalent for British coins?
