These are always super fun, but in a real match you don't see them often. Tight sets = bad idea (get blocked easily, less shot options, and high % of net violation). However, it is awesome when a setter is so good that his/her attackers have no blockers or a 1-on-1 opportunity. That's basically the only time you see "straight down" spikes in high level play.

Most of those are just falling balls, the only one really extremely impressive was the one at 3:00. That setup was perfect. The ball didn't linger in the air longer than necessary, it was still on its apex for the spike (unlike the others where the ball is falling and accelerating)... beautiful

@@elephantmocha4104 Some yeah, but I really stand by my point, >most< of them are just falling balls... The spiker is timing himself to the ball, not the other way around.
A great spike is one that is given to you, not one where you need to go get it.
Most of these spikes are powerful, but they would not work very well in a match. However, there are some pearls (the one near the 3 min mark is fucking perfect).

And yeah, practice spike don't count. It is a way how kiddos increase their ego but in the game, where you have to pass through a block...not a single 3rd meter spike from them. Pathetic

Anyone notice the gender? In high school for homecoming we'd have a volleyball game between the varsity girl's volleyball team, and the varsity boys football team. Invariable the boys football team would CRUSH the girl's volleyball team, having practiced volleyball not at all, after the girls' had been practicing for years and were well into their season. The spikes the boys could do were unstoppable.

Powerful yes, but let's see them do this with the tall opposing players with their arms up. I'm not professional, I did however dominate the volleyball court in rehab lmfao. When you see people super winded from a fun game of volleyball it really shows you the damage that drugs, alcohol,( a drug) and cigarettes can do the the human body. Up until that point I had never really wanted or had the chance to try out volleyball. As soon as I got my first spike and block on a guy trying to spike it I fell i n love with playing. Every single day for those 30 days I was getting healthier and playing volleyball for a good hour +. Thankfully it helped me get somewhat back into shape and provided me with an outlet to get my anger and issues out..... I won't go into that since it's not related and only someone who has been an addict will truly understand.
P.s. I didn't realize how many injuries you would suffer from volleyball lol. Jamming of the fingers to twisting an ankle after going up for a spike or block. I sprained it during one match and had to take a day or two off lol. All in all the volleyball part was a great experience.

this video has so many dislikes because half in not more are not 3rd meter spikes just mini jumps by tall people, a real good one is the clip of a 6'5" dude who jumped 38 inches and made a spike a foot over the net with fucking power to his slam, that is a 3rd meter spike.

I mean, Spike something at 3 meters might sound crazy but it isn't, usually professional players hit it at 3.5 or 3.7 meters (we usually hit it at like 3.1 or 3.3 on college/university level)

It's deceiving because there's women on the court. That means they're using a 7' 4 1/8th inch net(women's height). The men set the net up 7 inches higher so these spikes wouldn't look so ridiculous. Still some insane vertical jumps on those guys!

no? do you mean the blue thing on the thumbnail? thats a basket..(or what ever you call it) to put the volley ball in when youre done. its on the other side next to the coach so he can toss the ball for the player to spike :) (sorry for my english hope that made a bit of sence)

    • @15buch

Fran Meca That‘s wrong. If the ball hits the ground then a player can hit the net or cross the line. An error (ball on the ground) happened first so the other error doesn‘t count.
But there were some spikes that really wouldn‘t count but that aren‘t so many. :)
