- This aliexpress DIY flash cart for the N64 is cheap and handy.
Compared to the Everdrive 64 from Krizz, this Pico-powered device can only be loaded with one game at a time. However, with its cheap, and accessible price tag, lets you access a ton of games and features.

i do own a everdrive and a cheaper aliexpress version but as soon as i read ". Only one game can be burned at a time" they lost me its cool to see the pico still being used for so many things but having to load the roms 1 at a time is painful
Aye, its biggest limitation is space. Which is a bummer, but still able to do some cool things for so cheap. I like the everdrive, but the asking price is preposterous. I'll be looking in to the SummerCart64 next.
Thanks for checking out the video and commenting.
@@DReviewTing i know you can get sd card reader modules that sit on top of the picopi as i have used them in the psx memcard project. im guessing in the future it might be expanded to allow us to do that but i think for it to work correctly it needs some kind of nand to temp write the rom to thats normally how the everdrive's and stuff handle multi roms and the picopie just doesnt have the space as you said.
You're comparing a Rolex to a Timex. The price difference is the biggest feature.
@@DReviewTing Why not use some SRAM to create a buffer the roms load from? Allow them to be pulled from an external source and be written to the SRAM, which is then mapped to the addresses used by the N64 with the Pico acting just to translate them from 2x256mb SRAM chips into the N64's address space?
Still more cost effective. As great as the ever drive is, it's still too expensive new.
I use a PicoMemory card for my PS1. I put in an old 4gig SD card and It's all I needed for my PS1 saves.
I've seen that! I want you try it! Amazing!
Thank you for commenting!
Duuuude I'd love an everdrive but I'm cheap. I might actually pick this up!
Thanks for the video G-man!
Same! I'd love an Everdrive, but they are crazy expensive. This is a good little alternative!
Cheers Bawb x
Wait for version 2, which should hopefully come with a micro SD slot.
🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
I hope Beckmann continues to work on it. Also the people behind the TransferBoy!
The dev has officially stated that he lost interest to continue its development
Hopefully the community picks it up. Beckmann seems busy with a lot if things.
This is pretty neat! Love the thumbnail design by the way, really well done!
Thank Nimbus! The thumbnail style has been my go-to style for the last few haha.
Appreciate it mate!
5:10 looks like you played my mod XD, pretty nice it worked
Oh man, I absolutely loved playing it. The music was so good, and Shrek in the Dam level had me dying haha. Amazing mod! 😄
If this can be made to stream data over USB without removing the cartridge from the N64 or turning off the console, this could be the perfect budget N64 homebrew dev tool.
That would be phenomenal!!! Excellent thinking.
I'm glad that these cartridges exist and I'm glad that people are using them to rekindle memories with their love for the Nintendo 64 it ain't like the original cartridges are going to be going down in price they too expensive
I agree, completely! There are some games that I'd never get to experience without these sorts of carts, or emulation in general. Some games are going for CRAZY money these days!
Interesting idea. I love all the projects popping up with the pi pico at the heart of them.
Same! The modding community are really utilising it. I can't wait to see what the future brings!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
The zelda didn't save, probably due to the cart not having a battery and sram together to hold it, but it was a very nice video.
I'd say you're exactly right. Just means I'd have to complete it in a single sitting haha!
Thanks for commenting and checking out the video 😄
Cool man
😎👉👉 cheers!
Ohhh now this is dangerous!!!! 😮
Incredibly 😄 I love it!
The key is its a start. You could fork it and.put a spot i2c with the whole us collection and a menu. Not 2 hard.
Exactly. It's a start, but adding an SD card reader is way beyond my understanding, haha. Hopefully, in the future 🙏
is'n portal bigger than the 16MB ? ho did you manage to get it on the cart ? (also they should have added a sd slot and PSRM for quick loading into psram from SD)
That is actually a very valid point! I didn't even look at file sizes when flashing. Portal is 22mb, and even DBZKart is 25mb! I'll have to look in to that a bit further. Unless when the uf2 is converted, it is able to reduce the size further maybe?
I agree, an SD card reader would be absolutely sick! The biggest issues for me is both capacity, and saving.
Ok. Can someone please get one of those DE-10 Nano "cheap" clones that are coming out soon, and make a NEOGEO multicart out of it? Thanks.
I'll need to look into that, I'm not sure what that is haha. There is an NEOGEO emulator for this, but I couldn't get it to work at all.
wrong link in description
I checked there, and both seem fine to me 🤔
@@DReviewTing your github link is forwarded for PicoDVI-N64 the video solution, no picocart64
everdrive is stil king
If it wasn't obscenely priced, I'd agree.
no, also its very expensive I can build 5 boards for 25€ c.c
Interesting. 5 of which board, and how??
SummerCart64 is better than the everdrive
The SummerCart is next on the list!
Jesus loves you!
I love Jesus! I'm sure he's a subscriber 😉😅
Why didn't they add a SD card to the project?
Why indeed. Hopefully, it is in the work.
Thanks for watching!
Fork the project add what you want.
