I've been interested in the resurrection jars to the point of collecting many of them and making an aquarium into a pond by adding all of the jars to it for microscopic observation and discovery. @Fishtory ....I'm surprised you don't have AT LEAST one....My only problem with them is if it will hold water.....I hear alot of them leak. I guess it could be an easy fix....I've just never had a leaky tank so I never had to fix one. I had a 30 gallon tall for 30 years.....thing never leaked...lol
I have an old tank with a black metal frame. It's pretty scratched. I found it abandoned in a flat and I've had it for 15 years now. It's probably more than 30 years old 😂
I just set up a 29 gal Metaframe. Using a UNS Delta 90 canister filter, Current USA background LED bar, Inkbird 308, & AI Reef light. Black Angelfish, Black Phantoms & Bleeding Hearts for now. *Don’t worry tank not 70 degrees lol
Don't forget the Candle under your tank for heat!

I feel like I was deprived of this experience by my parents. I desperately wanted guppies as a child but I was only allowed goldfish.
As soon as I moved out and had my own place I got a tropical fish tank and mollies 😊

Great video man. Hope all is well....I got a weird recommendation for a video of yours today. Even tho I watched the video LIVE.....Your spat with Joey was the FIRST video recommended to me today. I thought it was kinda weird to get a recommendation for a video from two years ago. Did you change the Headline of the thumbnail or some other change? Google slate aquarium or eurobrace metalite frame ... any of those should pull up craigslist or facebook ads for antique tanks...sometimes very inexpensive still

My guess with the angel fish being kept at 70°, is that the original collectors probably found them at a time of the season where that was around that 70° water temperature and w're probably forced into shallower waters where they were caught. So they replicate these conditions, continue to think it's a solid foundation, even though the fish probably migrated there because of a cold season or some other threat. Just my novice thoughts. 🐠

I have honestly quit the father fish method. To many issues especially with leaf litter just way to much algae issues unless you really have an established planted tank. Leafs really shouldn’t be added that often 1-2 every few months.
In my opinion a natural tank should sustain its self with its own plant’s waste and fish waste and will recycle its own nutrients with a small boost from leafs and stuff here and there.
Overall i have just been having way more success with my own style than his i still enjoy my natural tanks but i’m starting to have a few doubts about the method. It seems to be going very industrial. I dont even really see the same father fish as i seen when i first started.

He didnt have it right all along hes just stuck in 1955 and seems not to have absorbed any new information since then.
He ( Father Fish ) subscribed to my channel and has left several wonderful comments about my planted tanks even though he is well aware that I use filtration in the form of sponge filters and hang on back filters and do regular water changes. I do many things differently than he does or suggests and he is very open minded and non judgmental about newer tech. I'll admit that at first I thought that way a bit but I actually watch his videos and livestreams. I mostly like that he doesn't come to channels and judge people on how they choose to keep their own aquariums.
Well thats part of what im poking fun at, here. Im not disagreeing with it working, but things can be improved of course. As has he altered his systems...he uses sponge filters and nutrient rich substrate
@@Fishtory The only reason I mentioned that is due to all of the very negative and many times repeated comments about him (FF) on places like Reddit and online fish forums that seem to be almost copied and pasted over and over and over again by keyboard warriors who more than likely never owned an aquarium or attempted to keep a single fish alive over night in their entire life. All of course behind his back without giving him the ability to comment or defend himself from that . Personally I find it a bit cowardly and that's all. I don't agree with every single thing he says but there is a lot of wisdom there to be honest. I learned many things from you as well like catappa leaves and redundancy among others. Thank you for all that you freely give to this hobby.
@@guyfawkescorys I think that people who disagree with FF don't really follow his channel, so some things are taken out of context, and others without explanations and development.
FF is just against sterile tanks. But he repeats that his method is adapted to small fish in very well-planted tanks, if you want an aquascape or big fish, of course you can't apply his method.

Where can I get female dwarf gouramis? The pet shops only have males.
So i see them at petsmart or petco even sometimes, usually sold as powder blue dwarf gouramis. Sometimes even as "female poder blue dwarf gourami". But yes its annoying how they tend to split the genders to the point you dont find them both ordered together at the same shop

father fish has a youtube channel though,he does the work to reach to new people and upload new videos weekly for years now ,hence the recognition.Waldtad wrote a book decades ago and did nothing since.In fact many people like myself would not have known about walstad if not for father fish.
@@blueXcssactually Diana Walstad has put out some content on UA-cam this year. She doesn’t have her own channel but will occasionally make appearances as a guest. She also just released a 3rd edition of her book and she moderates on a few aquarium forums.
