I don't understand why I can't do this--you make it look so easy! I'm using Schminke tundra blue and hand-made burnt sienna, on Arches hot-press...yet my colors just don't want to disperse and flow out like yours do. My paper is good and wet, with no puddles...guess I'll have to try again. I need to get some less expensive watercolor paper to practice on and stop wasting my pricey Arches.
Hot pressed papers are different than cold pressed. They are more for detail work and not looser paintings. Paints will not move and bleed on it same way as they do on cold pressed paper. There could be your issue. I do advise you to get cheaper paper for practicing. And definitely cold pressed for landscapes and loose style paintings.
@@MarenaART Sure, I understand the differences between hot and cold press, been using hot press paper/illust. board since the early 1990's--but for airbrush, not watercolor. I'm getting better at this technique with more playing around with the paint. Will get some cold press paper--maybe 300 lb. as I hate the buckling of 140 lb....also will get cheaper paper for play. Thanks for answering! 🙂
