aka. the song that never fails to make me CRY
im seeing dear evan hansen in may in toronto so i thought id be fitting to do at least one animatic before i go!! ive wanted to do a full animatic for this song for a while (i tried to make one in 2017, i have a clip still up ;D) so here it is, a day before i have to go back to school....i decided to "experiment" a bit and go out of my comfort zone just a tad, since the song is pretty short! im very happy with the result, but i dont have time during the school year to do animatics this way lmao

But honestly this is the best one I've seen so far. The fact that Evan didn't make up with the others is hard but it shows how he really messed up, and at the end when he takes Connors hand I like to think that it was like making the paces, like, I'm sorry I use you to get my life together.
Or I'm thinking to much, idk, but this is beautiful
I felt sorry it had to end this way for Evan. But i came to the show ready for the redemptive ending. I only wish Evan didn’t have to go through all that heck to hide how broken and alone he felt.
I really love this interpretation of finale, it’s just so well done
For me it feels like Connor says: “thank you Evan. I can finally rest”

I have been listening to it for 2 years
The sadest part of this whole musical is that Connor was right. I bet a though he had was "the world would be better without me", and he watched as the people who knew him, and those around the world get better. All because he left. Its utterly heart breaking. It's why I dont beivle this musical can have a happy ending, because Connor is dead. He lost a battle, and people dont even morn HIM, they morn the idea of him. It all started with those fake emails. Those emails were never Connor. Evan didnt even truly know Connor before he died. My heart hurts from this musical.
I know how you feel. I mean I was ready for the bittersweet end and Evans resolve was forgiving. Although the buildup to it can be a handful. I usually love happy endings but I’ve grown a bit soft towards ending on a redemptive note.

Ok, so I saw this on Broadway, and it was wonderful, but this animatic really portrays this moment beautifully❤️👌 idk I just thought it was great to show how Evan is finally at peace with himself, and doesn't hate himself anymore. Great animatic Cosmo!

This is the most gorgeous DEH animatic I have ever seen. The raw emotion, the use of the night rather than day, Connor’s passing and their friendship, ALL of the character designs...Don’t mind me, I’ll just be sobbing over here. Phenomenal, breathtaking job! 💖

Can I just talk about how good the last song of musicals are. Like their always so bittersweet. The story just finished and that's all you'll see of those characters but it's so satisfying for it to have an ending. People always say the first song in act 1 or 2 is the best but the last song just wraps up the show and essentially, describes the show and moral of the story. Anyway, apart from that little vent, this was amazing and I can't wait to see your future works

I just realized this video was uploaded two days after I saw the show in Costa Mesa. DEH is a beautiful musical but a lot to emotionally digest. I’m happy Evan found resolve but also sad it came at the expense of what he wanted most other than to be with Zoe.

I love how you used the actual background setting of the apple orchard that they use in the musical (like, when you go to watch it live in a theater), from the way the plants look, to the way they're spread out, to the blue colors. I'm not sure if that was intentional or not, but regardless, I love it. I don't know why, but I do. Beautiful animatic darling, short and simplistic, but beautiful and charming.
