So this morning I was listening to Michael in the Bathroom (as I do every day) and something occurred to me. The line “god he’s such a loser” when referring to himself? I dunno about you, but it generally doesn’t seem to bother him to be labeled as such. But then I remembered Jeremy called him a loser and that just hurt me.

Second ; yeaah I also think he may have quoting Jeremy and the fact being a loser suddlenly bothered him might just be because Jeremy dispised him for that. Before he didn't care because he had jeremy, then he started being a dick, so he first blamed the squip then himself. And kinda jeremy but Michael is too nice to admit it.

I started thinking, Jeremy calls Michael a loser and it hurts him like A LOT but like he must be called that all the time and sure it's going to sting more from his best friend but it seems strange that it hurt him that much so then I started thinking what if it had like a really sad experience linked to it. Imagine a little kindergarten Michael just doing his own thing with his best friend and he doesn't think it's a bad thing to give his friend a kiss because boys do it to girls all the time but as he leans in his friend pushes him away calls him a loser and walks away tearing his little heart in half. But that's where he meets Jeremy because a small shy kid walks up to him and wipes away his tears gives him a hug and tells him he's not a loser. Then that's the way Jeremy makes him feel better when he's sad. He give Michael a hug and says 'you're not a loser'. Then after this it shatters Michael because his best friend just called him the word that sends him back all those years to when the big mean kids would call him a loser over and over before his knight in shining armour would come and save him. Could you just imagine. How heart crushing that would have been

Can we all cut Jeremy some slack? The Guy got abused by the squip up to this point and even if the squip was turned off in this scene it doesn't mean the effect of that abuse is suddenly gone. Plus the guy almost got raped right before this scene so if you think he's *not* going to be pissed and angry and confused you're wrong. The guy went from being a cornered animal that's sedated (aka the squip taking his capability to fight back) to being a cornered animal that can move freely (aka the squip being off here) with Michael being (understandably, but still for Jer it's obviously gonna distress him more at this very moment) aggressive here.

Yeah, it always bothers me when people ignore the fact that Jeremy is a victim too. Like. Really. I won’t say that he didn’t have anything to do with it, or that he did nothing wrong, but he was emotionally and physically abused and classically conditioned by the SQUIP and almost sexually assaulted in the scene previous. Just... people who make Jeremy completely out to be a villain upset me, because they ignore what he’s gone through. He’s not innocent, but he definitely is not solely responsible for all of his actions.

This and upgrade are why even at the end of this musical I can't forgive Jeremy. Sure, the Squip was the one pushing him, but he still chose to be mean to Michael on his own when it's off

Jeremy deserves a bit of a break, too. He was forced to make out with Chloe and the Squip didn’t help. Then an angry Jake chased after him prior to him running to the bathroom. And it was clear that he was panicking before Michael placed his hand on Jeremy’s shoulder.
And in Upgrade, yeah, the Squip was heavily convincing him. He truly believed that Michael was holding him back from being popular. What he did was wrong, but he was desperate for popularity.
Yea, I got so mad at Michael for being so chill with Jeremy like he didn't do all that shit to him. I don't think it's unforgivable, but if I were Michael, I'd be pissed.

Everybody is screaming about how Jeremy's an asshole but in truth he was emotionally manipulated into believing that he could never be happy if he was friends with Michael and also he was under a lot emotional stress because of certain previous events and I'm not saying he did nothing wrong I'm just saying that he had reasons for his behavior and also also he just saw his best friend for the first time in what? Weeks? Oh my god, Be More Chill is literally the movie Upgrade to a T; SQUIP is STEM.
It's a film about an AI implanted into the main protagonists head, who can take control of his body functions, and is planning to trick the protagonist to do things for his own gain. And the AI is smart enough to realistically do some serious damage if they were let out into the world without any limiters.
