I hate window units because they are just so noisy and the one we had really only cools one side of the loft. I had contemplated upgrading our current HVAC, but with all the rising prices these days, it would take years before saving up enough to do that. With the advice of my father-in-law (used to run an HVAC business), he recommended we get an inverter instead. Should be no problem. Cleaning water goes into a catch bib attached to the heat pump and is drained into a bucket below. About a gallon of water is used.
Hey, fellow mainers! Is that really the only way to clean the blower part? No way to take it apart? Id rather not use a pressure washer inside my house let alone something with electrical stuff.

What do you charge for this service? Hour and fifteen per head so if you were to do a deep clean on a 3 head system does your company charge a standard hourly or do you charge per head in need of deep clean?
My older car had this problem because of a. slow refrigerant leak. Recharging the refrigerant solved this problem for a year or so. Better to find and fix the leak.
There are three hook type clips that must be disengaged along the top near the wall. the center one is easy. Once you see that one you understand how the other two work. The one on the left isnt too bad but the one on the right is a bear. Good luck. and I could not find this simple bit of information anywhere else on the web.
Thanks for sharing. I need to have it done, I've been getting sinus issues from the mold I believe. Do you mind saying what the cleaning cost, was it under $100. THANKS SO MUCH for the video !!
I'm in MA. I get 250-300 per head, depending on location and condition. If you look at the cost of supplies, labor, vehicle, insurance, etc. you can't do it for less than that and expect to turn a profit.
Thanks but its not deep cleaning. Deep cleaning is when you remove the blowing wheel.... If you can share how to do that with Fujitsu it will be helpful
how: disconnect power and then keep removing screws, unhook cables mostly on the right side until the black pan part can come out (unit needs to be levered off the wall at the bottom a bit for this).. then the wheel-motor thing can come out and be cleaned - also gives better access to the evaporator coils, but still not possible to make this like-new, as corrosion and mold sits in places that one can see but not really clean. Did this on my Fuji twice in 8 years and need to do again.
I did remove the blower wheel on mine twice in 8 years.. it's doable. Disconnect power from the unit and when the cover is off proceed to disassemble it, mostly on the right hand side the electrical connections that go inside, one being the motor. At some point its possible to lift out the wheel-motor assembly (it's one part) for cleaning. Takes about 30-40mins first time to do that.
The work was done by MAC Heat Pumps and they perhaps can give more information. This batter powered unit worked great. The plastic bib to contain spray water is important.
This looks like a similar unit available from Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B07L6XV6CZ/ref=sspa_dk_detail_3?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B07L6XV6CZ&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExMzROUUpBWloyWThMJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwODU0OTgyU0VCTUE2UTJGR0MzJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA4OTg0NTA0T1Y0SFpBVFdWQjAmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWwmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl
not properly, no. He'd have to take more apart on the right hand side and take the wheel-motor assembly out for doing that properly.. but even then there will still be mold in any of the three evaporators in places that are not reachable with those parts having to stay put (and they corrode). I've done the wheel + evaporators on mine twice in 8 years and it's needed again (smells).
Fujitsi f'd up with the design on these things. Who has a pressure washer that they want to bring into their house/apartment to do this? Had they made them so you could remove the blower wheel assembly out from the side (which would have been very easy to do), you could just take the damn thing into your bathtub or outside and wash it off and then install right away. You'd still need to use foam cleaner on the evaporator, but that is common for any AC system. Manufacturers don't make anything anymore with servicing in mind.
I've been a big fan of these units and sadly neglected to properly clean them; my local service company quoted me 3 hours per unit! Very happy to have seen this video. Now for really bad news, I have 8 indoor units and 4 outdoor units to clean the next few weekends. Guess I'm going to get VERY good at it and I'll happily retain the $2-3k it was going to cost me.
Good job. Mike here living in SoCal. My last name is Crosby. Lots of family from Machias and Whiting. We could be related. Do you use the heat pump more for heat or AC?
Thanks Mike for your comments. We use our heat pump almost entirely for heating. It nicely replaces a wood stove we formerly used. Our electricity is 80% renewable here in Maine so heat pumps are a great fit.
According to the Fujitsu manual ( holland) the 2 little filters should not be washed but replaced. These filters are, i guess then, impregnated and that should be the reason.By the way these 2 little filters cost a fortune and hardly nowhere to get, so i just let them in. One is for bad smell and one for germs. Does anyone for sure know wether they can be washed or not?
they are "worn out" after 6 months and useless.. and yeah, no source, not even for the "catechin" to dip them in and refresh them. The mold+corrosion going on in these units renders those little pieces of cloth a joke anyway - I've had mine apart twice in 8 years (wheel+motor inclusive) to clean and there is spots where it's impossible to clean mold+corrosion.
wariow Behind the wheel is also where all the Mould sits. You can’t clean it with the blower wheel still there. Also the blower wheel needs to be brushed, no chemical will get rid of standing Mould. It needs to be removed just like a toothbrush in your mouth. Lazy!
What a pro. Good to see someone taking pride in their work.
This is what happens when you put a camera on someone the whole time and tell them you will show the world. 😅😅

This cleaning cost $140 in 2019.
@@herbcrosby Thank you!
my 2018 model Fujitsu looks totally different and none of the screws are shown as in this post...grrr.
Just curious, Is he not able to take out the blower wheel to clean it? I have the same AC.
With this particular model the blower wheel is not removable.
I have a Fujitsu, and the blower wheel is not removable.
Where did you get that portable water sprayer?
The work was done by MAC Heat Pumps and they perhaps can give more information. This batter powered unit worked great. The plastic bib to contain spray water is important.
This looks like a similar unit available from Amazon:

herbcrosby ::: He was very professional, thorough and careful! I hope you tipped well!
$833.00 😳
@@herbcrosby SpeedClean CJ-125 Portable CoilJet Coil Condenser Evaporator Cleaner
The first time I did mine it took me 3 hours....lol Of course it didn't help that I had almost no idea of what I was doing. I'm a pro now...
Apparently I have a cracked water pan, is that something that can be fixed?
yes. try to use water proof epoxy
@@lordjaashin like flex seal?
@@spacavento I'd go with jb weld waterweld
Does this process clean the blower wheel?
yes it does
not properly, no.
Can you help me.I want to buy mechanik.Where can I buy in Turkey?
I would have liked to be shown how to open it. It's not obvious!
What do you charge for a job like that?! We have one and it desperately needs done.
This cleaning cost $140 from MAC Heat Pumps in Bangor, Maine. They did a great job.
Why not show how to get the housing off?
Disregard. Best video, thanks.
Don't use a cordless drill, it's just plastic.
OMG I didn't know cleaning these things is so involved. I bought a dual system. My house is dusty. I didn't know what I was in for.
Why am I watching this? Oh yeah I can't sleep and it's 3 am so yeah why not?
Anyone get the brand name of the pressure washer he was using???
Speedclean coiljet made in the USA
where did you get the cover bag from?
Unsure, this work was down by our local installer.
Nice. Thank-you!
He spiked the top cover
Can you do this to my lungs? :(:
No need to turn the breaker off never ??
yeah, that's step 0
Am I the only one that got some ASMR out of this? 😂
Pitty that you don't show how to remove the outer cover!
Just posted a more detailed video showing how to remove the cover: ua-cam.com/video/E8X7lEIwaPU/v-deo.html
Shame you don't show how to take the cover off
Came to see how the front panel is removed. They edited that part out 😅

No ones gonna say that he sprayed the 2 accessory filters
he didn't remove the blower wheel to clean?
No, the fan spray on the pressure washer is apparently designed to reach in there.
never like an explanation that includes "apparently". lol
wariow Behind the wheel is also where all the Mould sits. You can’t clean it with the blower wheel still there. Also the blower wheel needs to be brushed, no chemical will get rid of standing Mould. It needs to be removed just like a toothbrush in your mouth. Lazy!
Biggils mine was so disgusting no way could it have been left in there and gotten very clean.
Excellent job , I know what it takes having done this before
