Also, Roscoe's is popular, but their food is not the best representation of soul food. It's basic. You needed to go into the Crenshaw area for soul food with soul 🤤😊. Did you get to the In N Out? Also you can add salt and pepper too taste, some people mix in hot sauce as well. I feel you I grew up on them but I'm not a fan anymore. Glad you enjoyed my city!
Grits appears to be similar to a hot cereal what Caribbean people eat called Cream of Wheat. However, we eat it with sugar and cream OR condensed milk, with nutmeg or cinnamon added! Grits is just so different to the way we eat it.

Some eat and love them with sugar, some don’t. Grits are similar to porridge that would be eaten in the UK I believe. Both are made from ground corn if I’m not mistaken. I don’t like them and didn’t grow up eating them but my father would eat Cream of Wheat which looked like grits to me and just having to wash the pan would almost make me sick.
