I've had several ports of call changed or cancelled altogether, and I never had a bad day as a result. Cruising really is all about living in the moment and taking in the view.
We were delayed getting on the ship on our second cruise because someone was detained at the last port and caused the ship to be late getting into Galveston and we had to wait about 2 hours before we could board. It all worked out and we left about an hour later than normal. The nice thing is there was not a lot of complaining as the cruise line kept us informed the whole time we were delayed.
Nice job Tony...great content! I like the haircut! I thought you presented this in a positive spin rather than just complaining about things that could be a downer to many passengers.
I didn't know about #5. All the rest I knew about after 11 cruises. Ship happens and you should simply prepare a backup plan...oh and I don't ever check luggage.
Tony, this was a Good vlog, especially for first timers... We had to skip a Virgin Island on our 2015 cruise because a young man fell off the first night (he was intoxicated & tried to climb from one balcony to another)
Good information. One cruise I was on, back in 2002, had to skip a port due to weather. It would have been good to know about asking for refund of port fees.
Mine and my husband's cruise was delayed because of weather. We were leaving out of Baltimore. We were due to check in at 12pm, but ended up checking in at 4pm.
if you are flying from toronto, the only cruise ports you can fly non stop direct are (europe), : amsterdam, copenhagen, athens, barcelona, venice, edinburgh, glasgow, dublin. other cruise ports where you can just get off ship but no direct flight: naples, valencia, oslo, stockholm, helsinki, tallinn, riga, ....
Ah yes Tony, regarding #1, way back in 2006. We were on the Crown Princess, our first Princess cruise, when we experienced the great tilt. Just out of Port Canaveral heading to NY, the final leg of a 9 nighter. In glassy smooth water, the second officer felt that the auto pilot was in error and took manual control of the ship. Oops, his steering skills caused a 24 degree list. Long story short, we were fine as were most, some people hurt, minor damage about the ship. Back to Port Canaveral. Full refund, plane ticket home next day, open bar and double lobstertails that night. Crown Princess heeling accident can be found on line. Heck yeah, we still love cruising !
One of the comedians on our last cruise made fun of the workers on the cruise ship right in front of them (while they were serving drinks etc.) and I just found that really disgusting and uncalled for.
Being a recent suite class cruiser, they don’t tell you that the value you receive is merely psychological with RC, NCL, CAR etc. There really isn’t much value received for paying a 100% and up premium to experience the ‘ship within a ship’ luxury access. I think I would receive more value in the future by booking a cruise with a true luxury line. Would you book a luxury car on the NY subway for priority boarding, free bottled water, and premium seat cushions?
That’s a good point. I have also been looking at the different loyalty programs. It does seem that there may be a greater emotion connection to loyalty than actual benefit. Pretty wild stuff. - Tony
I’ve gotten nice perks when booked into a suite! Priority disembarkation in each port, free laundry, room service that included all food served in the MDR, concierge lounge, basically a valet/cabin attendant & other nice extras!!
now cruise lines are publically teling where your port is rather than just the famed destination is. florence ( la spezia, livorno), rome vatican orvieto ( civitavecchia), milano ( genova savona portofino portovenere), paris ( honfleur, le havre), london ( harwich, southampton), mont st michel ( cherbourg, st malo), berlin or potsdam ( warnemuende rostock etc), seville ( cadiz huelva), cordoba or granada ( malaga, mottil, almeria), cadaques figueres ( palamos), .....etc etc
Rerouting and skipped port happened to us last month. Supposed to go to Bermuda for 3 days. Were rerouted to the Bahamas. Supposed to be 3 ports but our ship only made 2 due to a hurricane. No need to go to guest services for port charge refund. It was automatically done for the 2 missed ports. That gave us extra money to spend on board. 😃. Also our ship lost propulsion on the last nite in 2010 and we chugged back to Miami 4 hours late the next day. I learned not to make early flight reservations.
La Lido Loca Always Carnival. 2010 was the Destiny (now the Sunshine) and last month was the Pride I have loved all my cruises. Have been on the Victory, Valor and Glory also. Going on the Legend to Alaska in June 😁. Hope you all have the best time ever on your upcoming cruise!!!
Love this! Problem is that my wife will not stand in line with me. Pity the person behind me. Stand next to a diaper wearing kid and they just might think the kid is fully loaded. lol
To be fair, there is some “comedy” that is out of line. On our last cruise, we found one comedian who constantly told tape jokes to be completely distasteful. There is a difference in being “blue” and crossing a line of decency. The rape jokes about children did it for us.
They actually do tell you about some of these things (port rescheduling, muster drill) but you have to go read your contract. To 'advertise' any of the rest of that just wouldn't make sense. Do they really need to tell us that luggage can get lost, there might delays, lines and we might get offended? That's just every day life and common sense.
Paris was canceled due to dock workers strike and Mareskesh was canceled due to political unrest. Been to Caracas Venezuela and now you can’t go there. The weather is not the only thing that can go wrong beyond anyone’s control. Junie
About your comments on the casino. Land based casinos are regulated by the STATE gaming commissions as opposed to a federal agency. There are some Indian casinos that are regulated by the tribe and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Some of the states commissions are very good (Nevada) while others are not. The main objection that I have in gaming on a cruise ship is that none of the cruise lines publish their "win" percentages on slot machines as so the Nevada casinos. Without that information, why gamble on a cruise ship.
ROFL.... #3. OFFENDED???? REALLY? If a person can't go to a comedy show and not get offended, they have way more issues than what the comedian says. HOLY COW, these snowflakes and their weak constitutions.
BECAUSE of such complainers The Quest show is no more (on Carnival)!! They even warned people NUMEROUS times before the show that it is adult rated and would get wild but still they got offended. Soooo, the fun-nest (I make that a word!!) show on the Planet is no more because of you sensitive cry-babies out there that should stay in your room after 10pm if you are offended.
Like the new graphics effects for the countdown. Nice job!
Thanks. Always trying to improve. :) - Tony
I’m glad you weren’t discouraged from cruising due to your first experience, otherwise we wouldn’t have the wonderful La Lido Loca we do today!
Thanks! It’s funny how things get started. I think because of that experience nothing is to surprising now which is a good thing. :) - Tony

The bigger the ship, the longer the line. Great list.
Lawd I had to head far back on your vids lol covid has us stopped but I am so excited to cruise! I can't get enough of the vids!

good list bro! Yeah we've encountered some of these things...When you least expect it, expect it ..Digging the fresh haircut..you going somewhere?
She got aggressive with the blade. Must be cruise week! :)
Awesome information once again. Thank you.
Thanks!
One cruise one of our bags arrived the next morning. We have missed a couple of ports because of weather No big deal another sea day
I like the way you're doing the new video guys!
Thanks Shelby!

All so true! Great info. Also, casinos and shopping areas are closed while in a port.
Great job Tony thanks for the tips # Team Tony

Thanks!! This is good to know!!

Thanks for dropping knowledge on us! Safe cruise!
Thank you Mr. Tony

Wow that’s pretty bold. No way I would make fun the staff. How did the crowd react? Did the comedian get the laugh they were going for? - Tony
Sounds like a comedian begging for a heckling.
The ship WILL leave you if you’re not on time. 😳😳
Exactly that's why for first timers it's safer to book excursions through the cruise line. That way they will wait for you.
Stephanie M yes it will
They don’t advertise the actual price just some heavily reduced version of the actual price.
Do more vids on excursions for Carnival. There are not that many vids about excursions. A whole vid of being on one but not a compilation
Drunken fights only saw 1 but i guess its a thing
Thanks.
There are commonly long lines to embark and disembark. These lines could take an hour or two.
the listed destinations are anywhere from two to three hours drive One way from port. six hours lost in your twelve hour day.

What about the wifi? 😀 we pay for WiFi but is it fast ?
Never cruised before and I'm wondering what time does the safety drill happen?? I heard it happens shortly before the cruise leaves. Is that true??
Usually right before sail away. The ship we are on right now had the muster at 3:30 and the ship pulled out at 4.
@@LaLidoLoca Thank You for the reply.

Tony, are you using a different camera or lighting? Very clear video and like the overlay graphics.
I got a new lens to get that shot. Thanks for noticing. Been trying to improve the quality where we can. - Tony
I carry everything on...
Carnival always have issues with their ships. They are a crappy cruise line
Did ya'll get on another ship or they fixed it and ya'll cruise was just delayed?? 😮
To be fair, there is some “comedy” that is out of line. On our last cruise, we found one comedian who constantly told tape jokes to be completely distasteful. There is a difference in being “blue” and crossing a line of decency. The rape jokes about children did it for us.
So why happened to y’all when the ship broke? Did another ship come get y’all? Did your cruise get cut short?
They dropped our stop in Cozumel. Eventually they fixed the ship and they took us to Key West.

Some passengers can do awful acts on the ship. We were on cruise where man murdered his wife. Terrible!
Great point and so sad. - Tony
Harry Dolen...how horrible for you and passengers. That puts a real damper on a vacation.
WOW!! Was that the cruise in Alaska??
@@bbergs8628 yes, Emerald Princess
@Harry Dolen - I knew someone else who was on that cruise! Truly awful for all the passengers & crew!! So sad!
