    The first Episode is about Morgan's trauma and loss. The second episode is about how she is fumbling for her place in the galaxy. The third episode is showing how she has become that which she hated.
    In the second story, the townsfolk aren't mad because she didn't get the contract, they're mad because she's been running them into the ground. The promise of an imperial contract was the only things he had to offer as recompense, but that promise probably didn't involve 3 Star Destroyers parking over their heads to enforce even stricter work quotas. She probably promised money and resources to build factories that make the starfighters, but what they got instead were turbolasers pointed at their heads, demanding they work themselves to exhaustion.
    The third story leads directly to her appearance in Mandalorian. The distress signal was picked up by Bo Katan, who told Ahsoka about it, then Ahsoka goes there to confront Morgan about where Thrawn is.
    We don't know if the New Republic would have interceded themselves, They might've considered it not worth the effort, but if they were going to do something about it, the need to do so gets cut off by Ahsoka and Mando's involvement before they do anything. It's possible Nadura was acting on her own here.

    The first episode does a great job of showing what terrifying weapons lightsabers are. It took literal magic swords to give Morgan’s mom even a hope against Grievous.

      which is how ashoka probably got there AND how she knew she would be there in mando when she told mando to go meet a jedi on corvus

    With the Ashoka arc, I don't think it helped they broke it up by slapping Dooku in the middle. As fun as baby Ashoka and Anakin accidentally giving her anti-Order 66 training was fun, but Dooku's arc was definitely more compelling.
    04:10 not quite, Filoni dusting some off the non Night Sisters clans back out of Legends. Their light Magick is an interesting story point here for me.
    I don't think the second episode is 20 years yet. They haven't retired the Venators yet and Thrawn is the wrong rank for it to be Rebels era. Hard to say though.
    In regards to the distress signal ... I think it was an automated distress signal, but that was Katee Sackhoff, it's not the New Republic that heard the signal.
    With the third episode, it's definitely got the feel of a prologue to the Mando episode, it puts that city into the state we find it in... The path of suffering as it were.

      I agre about the third episode, I just think how she accrued this power is way more interesting than a whole prologue to the conditions we're already aware of

      Which is why they split it up differently in Tales of the Empire. Fans complained, not realizing Tales of the Jedi was like that because it was in chronological order, timeline-wise. This time they made it 3 then 3, but the storytelling now backtracks on the timeline.

    You make a very good point regarding the point of these.
    as you say, these short stories needs to be independent, and not a de facto commercial for something else.
    coincidentally, that is why I was so disappointed in the Ahsoka series, that pretty much did the same thing.

    We welcome the return of the Mountain Clan.
    While all of the Nightsisters are Witches of Dathomir, not all of the Witches of Dathomir are Nightsisters.
    As is only proper more and more pieces of the EU / Legends Iceberg are floating back to the top where they belong.
    ProTip: Turn on the CC/subtitles. They tell you that is Pellaeon at the meeting, and they tell you the NR contact was Bo-Katan.

      it's regrettable how many people insist in the rhetoric of "return" and "coming back".
      Legends, and it's previous name Expanded Universe, were never at the top as you claim.
      there was the Canon that mattered for the company, (in pre-Disney era, that was called G-Canon) and then there were works released licensed under the Star Wars name.
      concerning Lucasfilm and most Importantly George Lucas himself, anything EU/Legends were good stories but ultimately nothing more than glorified Fan fiction, so claiming stories from the difficulty navigated and sometimes swamp-like mess of Legends are "Back" in canon is simply factually incorrect.
      I know this is a sore subject for many people, but please, do use the correct terminology.

      @@davidbergfors6820 bro.... the tiered Canon system of Lucas was indeed a shitshow of the highest order, and when he owned it, sure, he can be elitist about Movies and "HIS" TV series (clone wars) being on top, then Novels, then Comics, then Games, then TTRPGs etc...
      But he sold it.
      And before he sold it, it was LUCAS POLICY to ship out things like the ENTIRE TTRPG SOURCEBOOK LIBRARY to authorized authors in order to "minimize contradictions" to any level of Canon.
      Since the sale and the classification of all EU materials as "Legends" we exist in a new place, where everything is on the table and simultaneously exists as "True", "False", and "Sorta" until and unless used, altered, imported, or directly and specifically negated by a new product. I call this state "Schroodinger's Ewok".
      Relaaaax boyo. The term stands as anything can become Canon now, and the GOOD writers are picking up all the deep cut layers we all loved from the EU... (and ignoring, at least for now, the dumb stuff from KJA)

    • @davidbergfors6820
      @davidbergfors6820 19 днів тому

      @@johannesbowers7467 the system is way easier than that. Legends are just that, legends. Myths, not true. Anything brought from Legends Into Canon is the "true story the legend is based upon".
      Still nothing you said contradict the fact that EU was never Canon. As the creator of the property, it is completely within Lucas' right to dictate what is real, so it's not elitist at all.
      And since it was never Canon to begin with, it can't be brought "back" into Canon.

    • @johannesbowers7467
      @johannesbowers7467 19 днів тому

      @@davidbergfors6820 brought back into "a" (lowercase) canon. As the Creator himself dictated, he allowed all Lucas authorized products SOME Credibility higher than "just fanfiction". And defined the greater and lesser degree of authenticity depending on the media format. He also did fully endorse some EU Items becoming full canon by his endorsement allowing them into the clone wars when he was producing it elevating it to Full "G" Canon. ( Capital G for george), thus setting the precedent.

    • @davidbergfors6820
      @davidbergfors6820 19 днів тому

      @@johannesbowers7467 for example, elevating darth bane into Canon did not elevate all of Bane into Canon, merely giving credibility to the stories inspired by the facts.
      And if Revan would ever be Canon, The Canon version would never be what legends made him to be.
      The rhetoric is misleading as it is commonly used. Saying it is back in Canon insinuates it was at the same level at a previous point in time wich it simply wasn't. Thats my point.

    I and my sister both didn't care for these 3 episodes. We felt like it was lacking it character growth and story. Other than the first episode; it really doesn't give you enough of who she is. She's angry at the deaths of her people, and that's it. I get that in the 3rd episode, she had received the calling from the Night Mothers, but we knew that from Ahsoka.
    The last 3 are the best ones; because we really get a scene of the Empire, and of Barriss Offee. We see her journey into becoming who she is by the end, and how she rescues Linn.

    Judging by the fact that in Fallen Order Cal goes to Dathomir's mountains and there's noone, I don't think it went well for those clans either.
    Also, most of your questions would be answered if you realized the signal was to Bo Katan. It's a connected universe, it'd be completely weird if the story of one character wouldn't be connected through different media.
    Like, you can watch EP. 3 by itself, but it will make no fucking sense if you don't watch the previous movies, that's a movie that to understand, it makes you watch other movies, is EP. 3 an ad for Ep. 2 and 1? That's just like... How franchises work...
