Good question. My wife goes grocery shopping without all the kids. Folds the seats or takes them out and she has plenty of room. Road trips require a cargo roof box or trailer hitch box.
I have 6 kids and a suburban but thinking on doing same as you for more people, really not worried about groceries or extra cargo, xl suvs has plenty of space to put stuff plus the trailer
AvaCathey Another option is getting a 9-seater Yukon or Suburban. A little tighter for the passengers as it seats 3 across all 3 rows, but you will have a useable rear cargo area.
If you can put a strong Rod behind the back 4th row. That will help. If someone hits your vehicle from behind. The impacted will be less. On the 4 row. U did a good job. God bless.

Where do you put the grocery bags? I got a suburban for this exact reason. I did not want to get a minivan. I think you're conversion is a nice tuch. This was surely a cheaper option than getting a new 9 passenger SUV.
Alan, by chance did you save the measurements for you plywood base. Sure would save me some time, thanks looks good just order brackets and bought used seat waiting for them to be delivered
Could you walk me through how you laid out where to place the brackets? Or do you know the measurements? I am installing a fourth row to my Suburban currently and don't want to misdrill.
Hi Troy. Thanks for asking. I don't have measurements. I could get you some if your using the exact same seats and brackets as I did. In the video, I screwed my brackets to a piece of plywood. Placed that on the floor then put my seats in place to lock them on the brackets. I checked my clearance to insure the back hatch still closes and kids had a little foot room. You can use longer bolts and 1/2" or 3/4" galvanized pipe nipples over them, to raise the back of the seats up a little. This gave my kids a little more foot room. Just remember that your seats will sit the thickness of plywood lower when installed. The plywood can be used as a template to get the holes in the exact spot needed. Double check under the car to make sure you don't drill into a hose or something. Adjust bracket placement if needed. Hope this helps.
