I may in fact be retarded, but my brain couldn't place the half of the disconnected voices I heard during that part in the story with the shades. Too busy dealing with the sadness of having lost the twins at that point, and thinking about everything that happened up to that point in the area, I guess. So thank you for this comment, really adds to the scene in retrospect!
God, when I heard the lyrics after that specific cutscene, I knew this was the song of our WOL and the pain, blood, sweat, and tears we endured coming to a final fruition.
The moment this song first started, it instantly became my favourite moment in any game. Just the sheer emotion of it all, and the fact that we all experience the same path through the area as there is no skipping this segment. I do feel sorry for all story skippers who missed out on this feeling.
Everyone is different, true. But there are people who shit on this song and it being the bgm in Ultima Thule. Literally had someone say in shout chat after we did the Chi fate “This bgm sucks. Enjoy your secular Christian music” and teleported out. I’m like, “Hey, homie. You have the ability to turn bgm down and play something else. Try that instead of bitching”. Dudes act like they’re so starved for attention and acting like an edgelord in chat is how to get it.

I'll always remember the music and such (the music has almost always been stellar but this expansion they nailed the timing imo and everything about it). This game literally teaches you that it's okay to cry. It's okay to reach bottom, to feel despair. Still you must always search for the light. One step at a time. Day by day. You'll suffer through life but there is still things to enjoy in life. I'm a therapist and this is how I envision pain. I've been through very dark times. But couldn't put into words what kept me going, how I "got out of it" . I think that, It was my friends, the people who loved me and cared. Some of them are gone now. But still. Day by day, I found some joy. I never thought I would be able to experience happiness when I was deep in depression. The fact that a got better gave me the power to belive that we can change. We can feel better. If your struggling, there is always someone out there who will care. That person if you wish, will just give you.. A little push. Tell you how important you are... I never cried playing a video game. And this one at multiple moments dug deep into the fears and anxieties I have. I realised, it's okay to cry, to let your emotion be there with you. They will pass and another day will begin. Your journey is just beginning warriors of light 💜
I had lost my mom to breast cancer before EW came out, and when I first heard this song I broke down into tears. To me, this song was like a message from her to keep moving forward and make a better life for myself.
I'm so sorry for your loss, losing a parent is such a world rending event. It's terrific that this amazing song can give you a small measure of solace.
to Yoshi-P it was. Apparently he yoinked this song from Soken as soon as possible and listened to it every day driving to and back from work to get himself into the right mental state to work on Endwalkers.
You know this music really hit me hard the first time i heard it in it's complete form. That day i had broken up with my girlfriend because of cultural differences in our family's and it was pretty hard on her. I tried playing the game to ignore the pain but that scene where the warrior of light is succumbing to the weight of the despair and the memories are helping him move forward just broke me .
Take my sub and my upvote - great work! I legit needed a box of tissue and salty potato chips to recover from the final chapters of Endwalker - that was, well - a lot!

I started right before ShB released, so I got to that content late - this was my first expansion where I just picked a job and rode it all the way from 80-90 doing nothing but story. It was great. They really outdid themselves on this one, and I'm so excited to see what comes next!
I remember walking up that path thinking that these guys finally made a patch worthy of being called a FF game. I hated when they brought the main cast back. The feelings I felt for their sacrifice was for nothing. Now that I know there aren’t any stakes for them I stopped carrying about all of them lol
that's one really bad take on it. There were stakes you didn't know what was going to happen. there were hints to it. Actually i thought the twist was amazing and im glad i have all my NPC friends i've shared heartfelt dialog with for years.. You view it so negatively. it's actually sad how terribly you view it.

This song in a cutscene: cuts deep. This song in the field, constantly looping, and BGM overriding battle themes: obnoxious. Srs, it's great in the cutscenes where it was first heard, but this song was what finally convinced me to install an add-on to replace music in the game.
Feel that hard. The big 'oh shit we gettin' ready' EW song playing for basically the last half of Laby was enough to make me go from absolutely loving the song to despising it. I avoid this zone just to let this song still ring more true when I do visit. I weep for when the time for FATE farming comes. :(

That’s wild. I always turn mount music off when I go to ultima thule, and I usually let the song finish its loop before I teleport away.

when i was doing endwalker this song just kicked in i was already in tears. when i heard Ardbert i was already sobing.
