As tempting as it is, I usually try to avoid super discounters because with such low prices, someone in the industry usually doesn't get paid well for their work. The agates are really nice though!
The agates at 16:00 are sardonyx also called zyanmar agates. The are a heat treated agate to bring out the colors. If you cut them or grind them down you may habe to treat them again.
@@JnVrockhounding Just to be clear, they are not simply treated to bring out natural pattern or color. They are dipped and painted. See Agate Ariel's "I Bought $1,000 Worth of Rocks from Temu So You Don't Have to" video. She cuts them all open.
If you test them, they are not solid Sterling. Marking does not mean anything when coming from China. Sorry.... But, many things on Temu are a bargain.
@@RockhoundingLife oh absolutely, I meant no disparity, for the price they are very nice, I have seen other rock hounds/lapidary show their purchases and at least 1 cut them open to find nothing but white. As I said I meant nothing negative, but they're for admiring as they are, not for lapidary work.
@@maryarneson5815 the pictograph "agate" that i cut was all white as seen in the video. The video is more for peoples information. I had some viewera ask about the site so i thought it was worrhwhile to test their products. I guess i could have cut ome of the polished agates.
They are not Botswana agates, they are sardonyx agates. They are white agates that are put through a heat treatment and then dipped in a solution to bring out the bands. If he cuts them, they will just be white inside with white bands.
Interesting video. I think you're right that those products are a good place to start for someone who is new or curious about the hobby without digging deep in your wallet. This is an amazing hobby, but certainly not a cheap one....
I have purchased jewelry materials from China for many years at similar prices. 99.999% chance that the bezels are thinly silver plated. They don’t hesitate to stamp 925 on them. The Chinese companies sell “ sterling silver 925 stamped Pandora bracelets” for $1.00. Clearly fake.
@@scottlemurianboxeryes. You can get some quality items cheaply there. I saw a video- woman ordered several sterling silver/ moissanite rings. She tested them in the video. Most of them did turn out to be sterling and moissanite. She was surprised - because the prices were pretty low.
@@RockhoundingLife before you do that, look up sardonyx agates. They are real agates, just heat treated and dipped in a solution to bring out the bands. If you cut them, they are white inside but still show the white banding.
@@soul_adventurist Oh yeah that sounds more like it. I was so confused when the banding clearly went from inside to out, but it was colorful on the outside and white banded chalcedony on the inside. Edit: I just read that if the color doesn’t go through to the middle then it’s a fake sardonyx agate. In this case it’s white/grey Banded chalcedony from Madagascar that is treated with some kind of chemical. The more you know…
I'm a bit leery of the adjustable size setting. Having taken silversmithing at NSCAD, that is a very iffy thing to do with sterling silver because it is so soft, and I wouldn't sell them as such without testing. Any adjustable 925 ring usually has no 'mechanism', rather an open cut so you can squeeze together or open. And I know, nitric oxide is expensive and not even sure if you can purchase it here. Apologies for the negative comment. ;(
I'd prefer to test it myself rather than rely on others especially if i talk about it on social media. But rest assured i will post the honest result as i am genuinly curious.
@RockhoundingLife actually I did. You didn't test the settings or cut any of them to see if they are plated or not, didn't cut any of the stones to see if they were real or dyed, nor did you test out the hammer to see if it would hold up to normal use or check if it was a full tang or just a rubber handle glued to a quarter tang. Again this was not a review.
Ohhh good grief! New rockhounds please don’t buy from Temu! You get what you pay for. And Temu cherry picks items for influencers. I’m willing to bet the hammer wouldn’t last long, the ring, earrings jewelry making stuff isn’t sterling silver (my favorite metal for jewelry) at best it’s plated. Also willing to bet that red quartz is glass!
There are plenty of rockhounding supply sites that are more reputable. Kindof the point of the video to show people what to expect if they order from here.

I have to agree here. Those agates did not look at all natural.
@ they’re still cool agates. I have quite a few of them. As long as you know they are treated to bring out the pattern and color.

@ no they’re not. They are a clear agate until they are treated.
I was surprised with the the quality of those polished agates! Nice banding!🤩
They are nice but possibility they are dyed.
I bought the agates too and so did another youtuber who does rocks. Cut one open and see what's inside. Much of the "stones" Temu offers are not real.
I'll be ordering some of these items. Thanks for sharing.
Your jewelry looks awesome!🤩
Thank you!! 😊
Are you going to test those bezels and verify that they are truly sterling silver?
I was wondering the same thing
I don't have the chemical to test them. But when i hold them up to the settings i buy on Etsy they look.and feel similar.
At best they are silver-plated brass. U will not get anything that is through and though silver or gold on temu nor any real stones

I was taught as a young child that if you can't think of anything nice to say, then it's best to say nothing. So, here it goes, "Nothing".
You are leading by example
You will find your professionally polished agates are painted/dyed
Dyed or not. They are still extremely well tumbled.
So are glass marbles

Thanks Jason, did not realize Temu has such big discounts
Easy to sell cheap when you use slave/child labor!
the jasper looks like brick
Yeah it wasnt jasper

I'm guessing those are Canadian dollar prices, right?
Looks like some interesting stuff.

That was fun! When you showed the earring bezels I instantly thought of the little cabs from last weeks video haha.

Im pretty sure they are made of silver plated nickel. Pass most common silver tests but the weight feels off.
You won't get the discount if you already have a temu account it is only for new users
Isn’t everything from China? That’s why soooo cheap.
WOW!!! Sure looked like a Ho bunch of cheap crap to me!🤔
Temu gives products away for free if you make videos using them! Poor quality products!
The jewelry settings are the exact same as you can find on Etsy and Amazon.
100%

I've gotten good stuff on temu of good quality too, you just must have a bad experience

Ill cut one and show it in a short this week

I find they arent very good either. Its very difficult to make the adjustmemt actually. Same with the ones i get on Etsy.
Ok. I just saw that the 90% off is only for new users! Uggggg! I’m not new
I have allways thought that temu is a scam corporate who just shows great pics and sends u 💩
Bjt u seem to have nice stuff👍
You get what you pay for with some but other stuff is useful like the jewelry settings.
They do a bait and switch. They send people higher quality things for review than what you as a normal buy receive.
