curious can you use this equipment for pinpointing where on the rj cable the problem (aka the finding part not just the diagnosing part) ? Or is this just for finding what cable ends correspond to what cables in big telcom/server rooms? I imagine by the 8 LED or so it can tell you when its a crossover vs a standard configured r-45 cable as well.
Ive used this model for network tracing it was almost silent one minute then bleeding all over the patch panel the next and i couldnt narrow it down it was so loud. Had to return it.
Why did you not try out the "tone and cont" feature?
can this be used to trace unenergized electrical cable to find where wire is in wall or shorts?
Do the sequence of LEDs change when testing a cross over cable? Can you readily detect that a cable is a cross over??
Same brand as Tacklife CT01. But tacklife comes with carrying case. Tonor isnt.

Now I have exactly this Bside FWT11 tester and i don't want to kill it the same way so quickly hahaha...
Well, so my question is that. Don't you know if this tester have some problem with poe sw ports?

I'm a computers and network enginear and I allso install IP cameras, and last week I by mistak conect thia tester wen the 12V power was connected to the other side with POE injector
and it burn me the tow 4,5 led's
so be carful with that .
and if someone have advice for good tester in low price, I will be glad the heare
and abaout the scan noize, it use when you have a lot cords like telephone crone
and you want find the other side of th cable
so you use the clips with the RJ11 connector in one side of the cable
and go to the end of the cables and looking for the one
that make the hight's noize .
i never read anything on this being rated for PoE
LordVekten: Good question. Did you ever find an answer? Or have you just avoided live PoE ports and cables?
I know it was 2 years ago, but I haven't had an issue with PoE switch ports at all with this model. I've been using it for about a year now and we have about 200 PoE switch ports so I feel fairly confident that it should be fine...:-)
That only happens on these cheap all in ones. Its because they put tone out on all 8 wires, incliding the brown pair (lines 1 and 2) which are the poe lines. (Fluke,tempo,triplett tone generators have a rj11 and put tone out on the blue pair). The correct way to tone a live network wire is to use alligator clips and put tone down on 1 wire and ground or 2 wires of different color that are not brown. This way you dont have continuity on the switch end and no risk of poe being pushed to the toe generator. This can be done easily by just cutting and stripping a short cat6 cable at 1 end, and cut off the brown pair ends.
Dont forget to put inside a ) 9V battery in tor the tracer
