Hi Hi! Originally, I was going to do "One Piece Wednesdays" and I had an overwhelming response to read and review OP at my own pace. And I decided to take this advice. :) So, perhaps subscribing would be the best way to catch my organic content-making style.
Good decision. I agree with everyone else -- One Piece is a journey to be taken at your own pace. I also want to reinforce something you said in your last video - spoilers are everywhere, so avoid searching anything about One Piece on the web. Looking forward to your journey 😀
@@matheussanthiago9685 So true. For some of us who have been following the series for decades now, one of the best things to do, is watching people's first reaction to it. It is the closest thing we have to watching it for the first time again.
The reason why most people here don't mind you talking about spoilers is because they just want to relive and enjoy someone's new perspective and experience when reading this manga. Trust me, they're just as excited as you going through this journey. You just can't get enough with one piece
It’s actually the more natural sounding Bug-gy! One Piece pronunciations are usually spelled out in Japanese so the reader knows exactly how to say it, but the Western audience doesn’t have that 😅 it’s a bit of a trial and error I’m afraid
@@ShellyishIf you're unsure how to pronounce a name. Try to sound it out in Spanish as it shares a lot of sounds and has a similar cadence within words, when compared to Japanese.
@@Shellyish IIRC, Buggy (バギー) was originally going to be called "Boogie" (as opposed to "Bougie"). One of the upsides of being current with the manga; I can safely use the wikis! XD
"surprisingly deep" knowing just how deep one piece can be, I don't know if I should laugh or cry I'm loving being able to see you experience this story so far and am really exited to hear what you'll have to say about future islands, characters and plot lines.
It’s really interesting what exactly connects with different people. I don’t think I’ve met someone who was that affected by Mayor Boodle’s story/words, people usually go for the dog’s sad backstory. For me, I love Luffy. Him blatantly calling himself a pirate to the townspeople NOT bc he’s dumb and doesn’t know the consequences, but because he’s already made calculations of their reactions and decided to skip all the drama and just dash like it’s all in good fun. I just really like this character trait of his. Deciding to do dumb shit on purpose.
I've always felt that the sequence of boodle losing his armor as he chases the crew is so beautiful. I love how Oda writes this trope of "someone who was forced on becoming a warrior can finally just live their lives"
You mean his *confidence? Yeah, that's obviously the best thing about Luffy. The fact that he's so confident and really doesn't give a shit about what anyone else thinks or says.
Considering how much you love character design, you're going to fall in love with this series. There are crazy, whacky characters of all shapes and sizes in One Piece
Since I don’t remember if you mentioned how you read the manga I’m gonna drop some of my favourite useless facts that Oda reveals in the question corner (aka as SBS) in between the chapters. The two blue fringes on the sides of Buggy’s hat is actually his hair. The two ears on Mohjis (the lion tamer) head is also his hair and if he let his hair grow out he will look like a rabbit. Oda has a character he designed for a character design contest as a kid called Pandaman that he hides in the background sometimes. If you want to look for him he is human wrestler with a panda head. It is unknown if it’s a mask or his actual head.
Speaking of Pandaman, he actually showed up in an Ultimate Muscle: Legends Vs New Generation (a.k.a. Kinnikuman Nisei Legends VS New Generation) for the Nintendo GameCube back in 2002. That predates _One Piece_ officially being released in North America, so I was shocked to see Pandaman here as well! O_O
I love your focus on character design. I've had so much fun looking at fan art as I go along. I'm sure everyone will tell you it's Buggy like a bug. I giggled. But your thinking is totally rational 💖
I like how you analyzed the difference of Buggy's and Mayor Boodle's view of treasure. This is a scene that a lot of people don't highlight but has a very big meaning on the series. Thank you for reading One Piece and keep up the great work.😊
One thing that always shines from Oda's drawing is his character design. He always manage to give this visually appealing design that also vaguely describe their persona. Its quite hard not to love it, so I understand the excitement! And also, I agree with the 'deeper than one would expect' sentiment. One Piece's light-hearted nuance and happy-looking visual easily fools a lot of us. So when some thought provoking lines emerge, we didn't expect it coming. And it's definitely part of One Piece's charm.
I feel that in One Piece, every saga has a central theme, and each arc within it has a smaller theme that falls under the central theme. One Piece is a story about pirates. The first saga is the East Blue, I think the central theme of it is "what is a pirate in this world?". And in the Orange Town arc, the smaller theme is "what is treasure to a pirate?"
One of the big themes of this arc was "what we treasure". For Luffy, we know it's his hat. For Buggy, it's literal treasure. For Chou Chou it's his late owner's store. For Mayor Boodle, it's the town. I think Buggy does Comical Villainy so well. Especially in the anime series, his Japanese voice actor is BRILLIANT.
I think I actually prefer watching people in the "book-tuber" space find and experience One Piece for the first time, as opposed to people who have already experienced a lot of manga and anime before. It's at least my opinion that people with your background bring a fresher and more unique perspective to the series. A lot of us who have been with One Piece for a long time and who are deeply into other manga series as well tend to have similar ways of thinking, our minds having been formed by common manga tropes. So we tend to overlook some things. Like another comment said, it was interesting to hear you focus so much on the mayor. I do think that the main thematic takeaway from the Orange Town arc is about the meaning of treasure. For the mayor, the town is his treasure. For the dog, the pet food shop is his treasure. For Luffy, his hat is his treasure. These 3 get the most focus, and the common theme is, as you say, something with a lot of personal, sentimental value. Going by that definition of treasure, Buggy doesn't actually seem to have any treasure at all, which means that for a pirate he's kind of pathetic / pitiful. I do think it's a good idea to read at your own pace. If you really start enjoying the series, then I don't think it would make sense to hold yourself back from reading in order to stop yourself from uploading more frequently than just on Wednesdays. I think there are a good number of us here who would be more than happy to get the next video as quickly as you're willing to put it all together. These are definitely videos that I'm already looking forward to.
There have been many book tubers over the last few years start and fall in love with one piece Murphy naiper, how to train your Gavin, amber alise, etc etc. Murphy has a lovely why I love one piece spoiler free. It's so fun to watch someone start this journey that we love, and see the responses of those moments that live in our hearts. Aswell as see how they viewed it. Also, their theories. One piece has a lot of world building, and things you read now can still have relevance hundreds of chapters later. So enjoy the ride and have fun. Don't push to fast you may miss something important. It truly is a great story. 🎉😂🎉 Can't wait for the reactions. 😊
I was listening to you talking about Nami and how her grudge against the pirates may be more developped in the future. I mean I think you'll be a good theorist for when you'll enter the real part of the story with all the mysteries One Piece has to offer.
I sometimes get the feeling that One Piece was written to follow a generation of people growing up - getting more and more serious and complex as the audience grows older. But amazingly, Oda manages to convey very deep and important topics in these early arcs as well, while still keeping it simple and easy to follow for kids (in my opinion)
The idea of treasure is also explored through other characters, For shushu, it was his owner shop that he wanted to protect. For Luffy, it is the strawhat shanks gave him. For Zoro, it's the sword that he inherited from his best friend.
it was really cool that you brought up Buggy/Boodle's views on treasure. The whole idea of treasure throughout this arc is the most important part for me. Aside from Boodle, we see that for Chouchou his treasure is the pet food shop, and that Luffy has a great understanding of that idea.
You're absolutely right about the contrast between Boodle's idea of treasure and Buggy's. What people treasure and what they dream about are the two biggest running themes through One Piece and Oda's never been shy about that, it's one thing that drew me into the story when I first read it. Ironically, that also blinded me to one of the things Oda is doing in the early arcs, which I only noticed when rereading the early volumes to discuss the live action adaptation. Oda is also commenting on the things he told us people think about when thinking about the Pirate King - Wealth, Fame and Power. Many pirates have very shallow understanding of these things where Luffy understands them on a much deeper and more meaningful level.
The charm for one piece is that it can be appeling to all age groups, the younger audience love the comedy, fights and the older audience can really get the deeper meaning in there actions, it definitely gives a silly goofy vibe, but a serious tone
Funny thing about cover arts. I think you've probably noticed that each chapter of one piece opens with a little cover art from Oda. Most of them is just cute little art for each chapter, but from time to time these cover arts tells side stories which actually takes place parallel to the main story. I think the first example of these stories is in chapters 35-75. It's not super important but it helps build a world even outside main story through this trick
The reason why we enjoy the details is because One Piece is a phenomenon with so much content, and it is on a visual medium to boot. Being vague will actually harm you because not every viewer will have every bit of the story fresh in their memory. Compare that to almost every other story out there, which are novels or perhaps a series of those, and talking about details will actually spoil large plot points. Meanwhile, One Piece will definitely have some spoilers within, but so much of its value is in the way the story is presented on top of the story itself. If you are familiar with the Wheel of Time series, way back in the day (prior to the last few books coming out) there were conspiracies about which people were in the evil faction, or what certain peoples motives were. In later books, you'd finally get answers, and you could go back to see the subtle hints towards those points that were trivial to miss because they looked unimportant at the time. One Piece works like that, where there are small hints and details about the world everywhere, but it is only in future arcs that Oda starts to slowly harvest all of the little hints he's planted in the story. Some of them might take nearly a thousand chapters to finally be explained and turn out as something that was more than just the innocent thing it appeared as. Hearing these insights and associated theories from a first-time experiencer are where so much of the joy comes from: everyone who reads the story gravitates towards different elements. Some people call out big plot points well ahead of time, and others go in completely the opposite direction with their speculation. It is wonderful to see those fresh, untainted insights when we have had our minds blown by the story so many times to the point where we felt outright stupid for not piecing things together ourselves! If you want to be careful in regards to spoiling people... chapter ~95ish is where the first season of One Piece live action leaves off (with one huge caveat I won't go into), which is the first and freshest group of the fanbase you could potentially spoil, but I have no clue whether they'd be watching a manga review. xD When it comes to the anime, it is episode 1070 which roughly equates to manga chapter 1050. So you really have nothing to worry about there for a long time. One question I have for you: have you spoken to your friend who you initially intended to do a read-along after she recommended One Piece to you to tell her about you having started this story?
If u love character designs ur in for a treat with this manga, Oda was probably a fashion designer in a different world because this man is so creative with his designs and very intentional, everything is there for a reason which is eventually explained in later chapters
Lmao! At the attempt not to miss buggy's pronounciation, you came up with one I'd never seen anyone say before :P Buggy as in, well, bug or bugged. So the second option at 2:50 was precisely the way it's usually said! :D
10:30 At first, when Luffy did not know that Nami was a navigator, but a Thief, Luffy was adamant that he would not work with her, up until when the information shows up that she is a navigator and that he can get the map to the Grand Line. To me, it shows that Luffy does not fall into the typical pirate image (plunder, pillage, and ransack kinda stuff), and that he wants more of a sea-faring crew, than a pirate crew, all for the sake of having adventures.
So good to see a new reader appreciate One piece like that, paying attention to the details, and more important liking buggy... most people don't take him seriously at first, but man... he is a good character... if you're liking this firsts chapters, you're really going to love the story... brace yourself, it is one hell of a ride, I'm loving to accompany you in your journey! keep those videos coming!
Love hearing you talk about the design's. For me the first arc's had really interesting designs in a way that they felt kinda childish but creative. As if Oda wanted to let a lot of things out he had thought of before creating one piece. And later on i felt like he began to go more into details and meaningfulness, because he realised he has more time for his characters to shine and present themselves. That being said, i really really love his character introductions, one piece characters get a lot of stage to show of just from one panel, body language and a few lines and we already have a multilayered perception of them if you know what i mean.
Yeah, Oda hits you with deeper philosophical questions than you might think. The nature of "worth" and "treasure" is something that keeps coming up because this is a story about pirates and treasure, and lots of pirates going after the ultimate treasure in the One Piece. You have to imagine what each pirate expects it to be especially seeing as 20+ years of hype would make it stupendous in rumours. Every pirate dreams of the One Piece and getting it, but then there are shallow pirates like Buggy who settled, eking out an existence on the peripheral. Luffy doesn't think like that, he shoots for the moon, and while he's mocked for it, that charisma of his begins to suck people in, and they start to believe as well.
Glad you liked bug-e's look, fun fact that might make you feel a deeper bond with Oda, his favorite character is Buggy. You got to meet Lionel Richie-I mean Lion Richie! One of the first pun names in One Piece. Personal treasure is one of the core theme's of One Piece and Orange town is the first big introduction to it, with luffy's hat, the mayors town, nami's love for money and tangerine's, in contrast to buggies shallow view of personal treasure. In the anime, they actual open up the series with a few original moments, with Nami scoping out the ship Alvida raids, with it flashes back & forth between to her sneaking aboard Alvida's ship to loot it while dodging the line of sight and Luffy, kobi and luffy defeating the Alvida pirates on the deck going on in the background.
As a caught up One Piece fan for the last 11 years, I just want everyone else to see what the community sees in the story. Subscribed and will be watching all of these.
I don’t know if this is insightful by any means, but as a young person (17), I love One Piece because of how fun and free it is. It’s honestly the only manga/anime I’ve been able to consistently laugh out loud to. I love its ideals of freedom and just carefree pirate adventures, reading it makes for a great de stressor.
I love the theme of orange town overall of how everyone defines treasure differently. Buggy is more stereotypical with it being jewels and gold. Whereas Boodle it’s the town, Chou Chou it’s the pet store, Luffy it’s his hat, zoro it’s (arguably) his pride, and Nami loves money and tangerines. It’s great to see the concept of treasure explored in so many different lights.
I find it interesting that you love the character designs so much. A lot of people will say that the art style is one of the big things that keep them from getting into it. I know it was for me. Took me awhile to get past the first few arcs. That said, I found that I fell in love with it the more I read.
One Piece is very much a modern oddysey and its beautiful. Glad you're enjoying this amazing series! Get ready for some amazing times, the loving, laughing, and crying only amps up and up and up.
@@Shellyish and most things are relevant and wrap back around, so absorb as much as you can! The world building and characters are what most people adore this series for.
My best friend passed a couple months ago, but sometime before that, she had stumbled upon your videos and pressed me to watch them. She adored you and I'm sad that I hadn't started watching with her then. It's a bit bitter sweet, but I'm excited to join you now on your journey and I hope One Piece keeps you enthralled 😁
Oh my goodness. I'm honored and my heart breaks for you. I'm so deeply sorry for your loss. I recently have worked to memorize this quote by Francis Weller "The work of the mature person is to carry grief in one hand and gratitude in the other and to be stretched large by them. How much sorrow can I hold? That's how much gratitude I can give." You have stretched me large today and for that I am grateful.
Really love how much One Piece does to make us think about things like treasure, dreams, and found family. They're the type of themes you'd really want explored in a long running pirate story but Oda really goes above and beyond with exploring them and laying these ideas out for you in a way you can apply even just to your own life. :)
A lot, if not all, of One Piece arcs have a theme to them Here in Orange town it was very obviously treasure - as you mentioned with the conversation between Buggy and Boodle, but also, the pet store was Chou Chou's treasure and the Straw Hat is Luffy's treasure. I think it is one of my favorite aspects of Oda's writing - how he makes you think about a subject like that. So be on the lookout in future arcs for themes as well!
I love when book people read One Piece. Manga or anime nerds are great, but a "book nerd" always comes at it in a different way that opens up new angles to the series. I can't wait till see you to some of the bigger arcs. Welcome to the crew! It's a party.
Hi Shelly I love the character design too, so glad you're talking about it! Those hairdos, the mayor and the lion tamer! I thought of the Peter Pan lost boy Cubby, who wears the onesie with the cub ears 🐻 And wow, yes that was some serious battling against a seriously tough opponent! Loved that we're learning more about the devil fruit powers. Also appreciated what you said about treasure, because I had started to notice how many characters in the first 3 volumes that I read made it clear what their treasure is, and none of their treasures are monetary! It's nice to have certain threads that weave through the separate episodes. Another thing that I started to realize was when the girl thief targeted pirates instead of wanting to be a pirate, is that Luffy and his friends have also only defeated pirates. He only helps, never attacks the good people. So it's like a silent wink and a nod that although he keeps saying he wants to be a pirate, and the thief says she won't join him because she doesn't like pirates, actually he's done nothing "piratey." The readers can see what they aren't seeing, that they are actually on the same side.
In reponse to being able to talk in detail. Ive listened to many different reviews of one piece, and still get shocked by different takes. Sometimes it even changes how i view a character or storyline. Its theory crafting at its core
On the topic of treasure. I actually think that Buggy considers gold/jewels treasure not just because monetary value, but because if he has manages to get alot of treasure that must mean he's succesfull pirate.......or indeed a King amongs pirates.. After all the Story is called One Piece. It is about the the greatest treasure and it supposedly makes you the Pirate King. Still we don't know what the One Piece is, but we know it's important. Luffy's hat........the town of Boodle all seemingly don't make you a King. So it's not real a treasure according to Buggy.
I've been reading One Piece for 2 decades now (damn), but I'm still so excited to see people discovering the series for the first time! Please feel free to go all out and in depth if you feel like it. In fact, we're into that lol Like a lot of comments here, I definitely recommend taking your time. There's a tumblr post that goes something like, "One Piece isn't a manga, it's a friend." So please enjoy the series in whatever pace you feel most comfortable, and really take in the mystery and wonder of this ridiculous world with your dearest friends. Can't wait for your next video, whenever you're ready to share! P.S. regarding names: most characters in this series either have phonetic names (Nami, Zoro, etc.) or "English"-sounding ones! E.g., Buggy is pronounced how you'd probably say the word in English. So don't be too worried about mispronouncing their names at all!
I accidentally discovered these today and have watched them all back to back… and like the story of One piece, there aren’t enough of these videos lol.
I still can’t believe you’re embarking on this journey! Last year I decided to watch the anime and I’m almost at episode 1000! But I was able to watch passively because of the dubs. Reading the manga requires more attention, but it’s on my list of things to read. I can’t wait until you watch the live action TV series once you know the characters well.
rlly interesting theories so far :) your point about treasure is def a point oda hammers into his readers from the beginning and it’s emphasized the most w luffy’s straw hat being as important to him as gold is to buggy. excited for the next video
Hello Shelly, really happy to have you as part of the crew!!! the one piece comunity is really awesome, we will do our best to protect you from spoilers. Keep the amazing work and we will be waiting for you in the New world.
Please put your One Piece videos in a playlist, it'll help keep your journey through the series organized and easy to find. Also, don't worry too much about pronounciation. The confusion with the main cast's names are the ones that matter and we'll let you know when you're saying it wrong, so just go with your first instinct on how something is pronounced
"Treasure" is a big topic on these chapters. Buggy's idea of treasure is very different to the mayor's. It is also mentioned that Shushu's (the dog) treasure was his owner's shop, and Luffy's treasure is his hat.
I think a good idea would be to take note of moments in the story that resonate with you and just watch small bite-sized clips. I often find myself rewatching iconic scenes just because of how well acted, voiced, or visually stunning they are.
The anime would help with pronunciation. I've also seen people who primarily read the manga pick specific chapters they would want to watch animated, beautiful scenery or fun fights are usually on the list. You can find episode to chapter conversions online quite easily if that's what you want to try.
From your first video, i agree with the man that recommended you One Piece. Gonna love it and maybe already is. 12:59 it's very precious to be able to have fun, Oda would be happy. 14:44 these curiosity makes the story very compelling which is nice that you are thinking 16:32 interesting perspective of engaging content 18:57 Oda makes the powers creative, funny, empowering and interesting mixing it with the characters which is very intriguing and fresh. Curious to hear from you 20:05 starting to get some deep nuances that 'hides' on the story. and you can dive in or not which is also amazingly wrote and accessible for various audiences 23:35 this shanks, luffy and buggy moment start to build up the connection through the world and that is incredible and satisfying
The depth of One Piece is truly a great thing. Oda is someone that likes to look at things symbolically and find the different ways he can represent an idea. You get a great taste of it with both the mayor and Chouchou in this story arc.
The whole arc is about personal treasure from chouchou’s store, luffy’s hat, and the mayors towns versus Nami and buggy’s perspective of money and artificial treasure.
Edit: I totally forgot that I had commented on your first One Piece video, so I'm changing my comment to avoid repetition. Just wanted to say that I'm loving seeing someone fall in love with these characters and the only thing I do feel the need to repeat is that you should buckle up because it's going to get soooo much crazier!
A few things I love about Buggy's introduction. Luffy and Buggy are the first two characters that get introduced knowing they have a devil fruit, Luffy and Buggy rhyme and also that their devil fruits are inverses of each other. Luffy can stretch and is immune to bullets while being weak to swords while Buggy can separate himself and is immune to swords while being weak to bullets.
I can’t help but get giddy whenever I see someone getting into the series for the first time. I’m loving your thoughts so far! Definitely gonna check out the rest of your channel, as I’ve been meaning to get back into more “traditional” western books
Treasure is a huge theme even this early on in one piece, not just the mayor but Chou Chou too with his shop, luffy with his hat and Zoro with his sword
One piece has such good comedy throughout. And because of its length it is able to pull off the dichotomy of such funny moments and also such deep emotion.
I’m glad you’re enjoying this type of review, I’m loving the format. It feels conversational and natural. The themes throughout the story are excellent. This treasure one in particular is great because we rarely see it brought up in story at all in such a broad scope. Luffy’s treasure is his hat, Chouchou’s treasure is the shop, the mayor’s treasure is this town, and Buggy’s treasure is actually a treasure lol. I’m loving the Odyssey connection and the connections you’re making overall. The amount of attention you’re giving the story is excellent. Even picking up storytelling aspects I assume a lot of people don’t pick up on or realize. One of my favorite aspects of Oda’s storytelling is how characters or concepts are introduced. It’s almost like every reveal of the story is drip-fed to us. We will get hints and clues of someone or something up until that person or thing makes their grand entrance, like Buggy in this arc. The suspense leading up to the reveal makes the ultimate reveal super satisfying. If you like the characters, you’re going to have a fun time. There was a UA-camr that counted all of the named characters up to around chapter 1000 a while ago and there more than 1000 I believe. One of Oda’s greatest strengths as a storyteller is that he is able to get you to care about characters quickly. Chouchou and the mayor are great examples of this. Or even Koby, Shanks, etc. Later on there are even characters that will win your heart in a page or a few panels. Excited to see you continue your journey!
Hey there, always great to follow along someone's journey along the vast, wild sea that is One Piece. Also, apparently Buggy's name was Boogie The Clown before Oda had a change of mind, so you're not far off either way lol
Love hearing your thoughts! Yes, I really like the theme of treasure of this arc too, and I'm such a fan of Oda's character design. I don't think the anime is necessary, although the voice acting (in the original Japanese) *is* pretty fantastic. Most names will be reasonably close to how you normally say it in English, I think.

@@Shellyish IIRC, Buggy (バギー) was originally going to be called "Boogie" (as opposed to "Bougie"). One of the upsides of being current with the manga; I can safely use the wikis! XD
I love your conversation about treasure.
I love that you are picking up on luffy’s tendencies so early as well.
Great work!
Awe! Thank you!
"surprisingly deep" knowing just how deep one piece can be, I don't know if I should laugh or cry
I'm loving being able to see you experience this story so far and am really exited to hear what you'll have to say about future islands, characters and plot lines.
Yeah, personally I laughed, this lady will be crazy for future One Piece
Why not both 😂😭😂
It’s really interesting what exactly connects with different people.
😂😂 That’s awesome!!
The mayor Boodle is supposed to look like a poodle. That's why his hair and armor looks like that :)
That makes so much sense!!!
How did I never realize this?! Hahaha
@@Ryroebecause OP is a one of a kind story like no other. When completed it will stand on top of the entire industry of anime/animation.
Don't let the playful art style deceive you from the deep themes in this story.
I love your focus on character design. I've had so much fun looking at fan art as I go along. I'm sure everyone will tell you it's Buggy like a bug. I giggled. But your thinking is totally rational 💖
Well thank you!! ☺️😂
Yea Oda is know for having amazing character designs and its only gets better from here. @@Shellyish
I like how you analyzed the difference of Buggy's and Mayor Boodle's view of treasure.
This is a scene that a lot of people don't highlight but has a very big meaning on the series.
Thank you for reading One Piece and keep up the great work.😊
nice pfp!
I love both central themes. :) Thank you for sharing.
The central theme of East Blue saga is dreams (and pursuing them).
Thank you, Matthew! :)
But amazingly, Oda manages to convey very deep and important topics in these early arcs as well, while still keeping it simple and easy to follow for kids (in my opinion)
protect this woman from spoilers!! I want to see your first impressions as true as possible
☺️☺️☺️☺️
The idea of treasure is also explored through other characters,
For shushu, it was his owner shop that he wanted to protect.
I meant to talk about the chapter covers, but forgot. ☺️
I did tell my friend that I’m reading One Piece. He was very excited.
If u love character designs ur in for a treat with this manga, Oda was probably a fashion designer in a different world because this man is so creative with his designs and very intentional, everything is there for a reason which is eventually explained in later chapters
It's such a joy hearing you describe this magical world. It makes me so happy. I'll be following your journey. You are one of our "nakama" now
Lmao! At the attempt not to miss buggy's pronounciation, you came up with one I'd never seen anyone say before :P
Buggy as in, well, bug or bugged. So the second option at 2:50 was precisely the way it's usually said! :D
😂 Thank you!!
Loving these One Piece videos! There are so many great moments, characters, and stories that are ahead of you, and I can't wait to see your reactions.

It’s so cool, how much you’re loving the character designs. You’re in for a treat. Oda has endless ideas for unique character designs. 😉
Imagine when she sees big mom 😂

Yes! It’s gonna be so much fun. 🤩
The more the story progresses, the wackier the character designs become. 😆
I love hearing you gush about the character design and art. Surprisingly I don't see many people really go in depth on the designs.
Oda loves the draw backgrounds and fills them with neat little character moments. Definitely something to pay attention to as you read
Bougie the Clown is amazing 😂 love it
😂😂😂
the city is the mayor's treasure
Just like the Straw Hat is Luffy's treasure
and the store left by its owner being the puppy's treasure ♥

With Zoro it's also his swords, in particular the Wadō Ichimonji because it is a reminder of his dearest friend and the oath they took.
@@creativerealms 100%. The theme of treasure overall is an important one early.
That moment with Chouchou and Luffy was the first that made me emotional.

You have stretched me large today and for that I am grateful.
@@Shellyish Thank you ❤️
Really love how much One Piece does to make us think about things like treasure, dreams, and found family. They're the type of themes you'd really want explored in a long running pirate story but Oda really goes above and beyond with exploring them and laying these ideas out for you in a way you can apply even just to your own life. :)
You just made me realize something about Luffy's powers that I never considered! Subscription EARNED!!!
A lot, if not all, of One Piece arcs have a theme to them
Here in Orange town it was very obviously treasure - as you mentioned with the conversation between Buggy and Boodle, but also, the pet store was Chou Chou's treasure and the Straw Hat is Luffy's treasure.
I cannot WAIT to hear your thoughts and theories on the latter more complex and emotionally deep story arcs.
Ah, yes! Luffy's hat! :) Great point!
I love your raw reaction to the series, please don’t get spoiled, you’re point of views is very unique I love it
Awe! Thank you!!
I've been reading One Piece for 2 decades now (damn), but I'm still so excited to see people discovering the series for the first time! Please feel free to go all out and in depth if you feel like it. In fact, we're into that lol

So please enjoy the series in whatever pace you feel most comfortable, and really take in the mystery and wonder of this ridiculous world with your dearest friends.
Ha! More coming soon… like today.
Yes we love to listen to your own perspective to grasp a better understanding of the plot in general 🙂

"Treasure" is a big topic on these chapters. Buggy's idea of treasure is very different to the mayor's. It is also mentioned that Shushu's (the dog) treasure was his owner's shop, and Luffy's treasure is his hat.

The anime would help with pronunciation. I've also seen people who primarily read the manga pick specific chapters they would want to watch animated, beautiful scenery or fun fights are usually on the list. You can find episode to chapter conversions online quite easily if that's what you want to try.
Thanks for the tips!
So excited!! ☺️
Heck yeah! Glad to see you again!

Fascinating.
I can’t help but get giddy whenever I see someone getting into the series for the first time. I’m loving your thoughts so far! Definitely gonna check out the rest of your channel, as I’ve been meaning to get back into more “traditional” western books
Thank you!!!!! ☺️☺️☺️

I just got your One Piece reactions shown to me today! Welcome to the journey!
16:25 yup I've been requiring and rereading for 20 years or so
And now you have met the greatest character in all if fiction Buggy D goat lmao
One piece charactee designs are sooo iconic and memorable!
Loved your thoughts on boodle and treasures. Keep it up!❤
Thank you so much!
I really love your character (designs) and writing analyzations! I love those kinda things being a comic creator myself ;D
Awe! I love that you create as well!
