Thank you so much for your review, it was very helpful to give me an idea how these figurines look in real. You're the best! Keep the fantastic work going. Looking forward to more of your videos. :)
I have real attraction to doing Napoleonics in 10mm as I want to do really big battles in 1:20 scale eg, 36 figure French infantry units a la General de Brigade. I already have a large 28mm collection (over 3500 painted figures) but need a huge table if I am ever going to put even half of those into a game. Therefore your series of videos on 10mm Napoleonics is very inspirational, and the quality of the Pendraken figures make for an eye catching collection. I will have to buy some figures and have a go. In the meantime keep the videos coming.
Thanks I also have a large 28mm Napoleonic collection but as you say it needs a lot of space to do it justice. 10mm is definitely they way to go just enough detail on the miniatures.
Great tutorial. They are very nice figs too. I like how you painted them! The finished ones really "Popped" to Me! I you don't mind, what the difference between Pendraken and Magister Militum 10mm Nappys? I'm thinking of getting some 10mm Prussians and pained up a Brigade for Blucher, and was thinking I'd ask everyones thoughts. I can't tell from pics which ones are good. I can order both, but figured it was wise to seek outside counsel! Oh....I love the French Guard.... who makes the better Old Guard figs! ;-D I do think these gives have very nice proportions and good crip detail. The horses and riders look to have the right promotions. Thanks!
Thanks for napoleonics I prefer Pendraken. Nice detail and they are nice and easy to paint, Magisters are around the same size in height but are slimmer in build, Which is a more realistic proposition. I like the Pendraken old guard. I think it's more of a personal choice when it comes to. After all it's your army.
Steve, what width and depth are the cavalry bases ? I like my cavalry boot to boot for heavies but about 25% more room for light cavalry but to use say French Dragoon’s and lancers I was thinking of something in between. Of course I could use the same size base and mount 5 heavy cavalry, 4 light cavalry and 3 light. However your base size looks right. Cheers, Mike ps look forward to more videos as I’ve just started 10mm. so these tips are really useful.
Cheers the bases are 40mm square for all troop types. I base 5 heavy cavalry per base two bases to a regiment. 4 to a base for light cavalry again two bases to a regiment. Hope this helps. Steve
The hints are good as my next project is an1813 Army. I’m curious. What rules are you using with 40x40mm bases for light cavalry? Also what size would an infantry base be?
Thanks glade the video was helpful. The rules I use are one hour wargames rules or portable wargames rules. All troop types are based on 40mm square bases, other than command. Hope this is helpful.
Very helpful video Stephen and the results are very nice indeed. I'm going to save your vid in case I decided to try a change of scale. Are you the same Stephen Smith of the Elvenhome N Gauge layout? You voice sounds familiar. Cheers Keith
Very nice Stephen I've just started with the pendraken french just about finished my first unit did you get the army deal from pendraken if so is it worth getting or should I stick to buying 2or 3 units at a time
Thanks i must admit I just ordered what I needed to put together my basic armies. I have just started on my French army finished a dragoon unit plus command, all pendraken.
Thanks mate yes I think that's what I'll do just about finished my first 30 french line which were my test unit to see if I like them and I've got to admit I'm addicted really nice figures I'll be sticking with these for a while 28mm metals are just getting too expensive
Thanks for this. Just out of curiosity, why do you mount one rank at the back of the base, rather than two ranks, one rank at the front, or one rank on a shallower base?

Great tutorial Stephen it will come in handy I think.
Thanks hope it comes in handy
Excellent tutorial. The figures look great and I’ll definitely refer back to it if I find myself working in the smaller scales. 😉
Thanks mate glade you found it interesting.
Lovely work Stephen, I have often thought about 10mm, but don't think my big old hands would be able to paint such a small size, all the best Garry
Thanks mate. I do need a little help with an optional visor to see the dam thing's 🙂

Stephen Smith thx for the response! I think I’ll order sone pendraken to see!

Thanks again mate glade you enjoyed the vid, I'm note the same person, I must have one of those voices.
I was just wondering where you found the time to be so good in both hobbies!🤣

Unfortunately I have had to put all my 28s away for now. Really enjoying the 10mm stuff just enough detail to paint and the mass effect of 6mm.
Thanks for this.
Just out of curiosity, why do you mount one rank at the back of the base, rather than two ranks, one rank at the front, or one rank on a shallower base?
Thanks.
The bases are a habit more than anything. I used to play a lot of impetus, still do, and i like the look of the scenic bases.
@@stephensmith1256 thank you.
Daft question maybe, but how do you remove them from the sticks to base? Do they jst pull off easily?
Not at all. They are glued on with pva and left to dry. They come off nice and easy.
@stephensmith1256 thanks, starting some 10mm army gaming. In the past I've used blue tac to hold larger minis but that won't work to well with 10mm
