We don't have a drug or gun problem. We have a mental health pandemic !. Never forget that the same government that allows hard drugs , is the same government that kept A.A. and N.A. meetings closed but allowed the purchase of alcohol and weed for 2 years .We need to care for each other more . Hugs
I feel for the people who fall prey to our enabling health care system and all the people who profit off this misery. Some people may be beyond change and I get that but many are not and there's little offered other than a lifetime membership to the ever expanding crutch club. Trust me when I say that you are better off not being a member.
Whatever we are doing to help, is not helping … try something different … force addicts to get help, jail dealers for life so the supply stops… do something different …
Only town I have seen in my 59 years of life that had graffiti begging ppl to stay. Saw Jeremy Dyck the Surrey drug dealer hanging around Canyon Cable in Hope for 3 days Lisa Baines was murdered in the same building he lived in in Newton that killing is unsolved he was a regular as was she at Kelly’s Pub where Jeremy and Jason sold drugs as well as other places both hang around the homeless in Downtown Chilliwack.
Change means spending money, that means electing people who'll do that. Nothing invested in communities means nothing to do, few jobs, depression, means drugs and alcohol - organized crime thrives in small towns, not much law enforcement either
I worked as a pharmacist at the Pharmasave both Miachel and Dr. Grover are great to work with, Always took care of patients even at the hardest of times and never turned anyone down. Really great pharmacists and Dr. I think the numbers would be a lot worse without them.
@@BC_Geoff well perhaps all folks should THINK of the consequences now using drugs. The warnings have been out there for quite some time now that fentanyl is turning up in almost all drugs now so it's life or death should one decide to use. Does one value their life more than getting high on drugs and then ending up dead?
Many people began using opioids in the States for pain-related injuries because of overprescribing by doctors. They became addicted and had to turn to non-prescribed ways to feed that addiction when they could no longer access the meds legally. Very few social supports to help them existed, so they became trapped. Class-action lawsuits have been filed because of this. Not everything is black and white.
It’s not about compassion it’s about the community banding together and saying enough is enough and saying if you use or deal drugs you’re not welcome here. You don’t get rid of a rat problem by feeding them under the table.
Many ppl are pro drugs in this town and some govt employees will tell you they are with Hell’s Angels. Various businesses are owned by H.A. ppl or employ them . I would not be surprised if organized crime money is being laundered through some of the local businesses old issues of the Hope Standard as far back as 2012 talk of the economy being bad and downtown needing to be rehabilatated.Various storefronts closed for years you don’t see that in neighbouring Popkum and Chilliwack though Wendy’s just opened up a new store.
I visited Hope a couple of times, its a beautiful area, wonderful community but it seems like leadership is stuck in the past. The town has a lot of opportunity to be an incredible city with lots of potential but its just waisted. The first lady said it perfectly, at what point do you realize using the same strategy isn't working and try something else. It seems the younger population actually want to do something.
This is not new for Hope. I was thinking of moving there 15 years ago and was told it was a depressed town with a lot of drug addicts. The place should be renamed "Hopeless".
Today behind the SDK Market on Wallace St. I saw hard drug debris female cashier was wearing a Champion t shirt talks a lot about gang ranking. The mayor was told about Tina the public library employee teaching a child how to give a nazi salute he did not care. Sara the librarian quit or was fired after giving a speech in the library saying she hoped ppl didn’t think the library was racist. Some ppl with a red jeep were at the Owl Laundry today the licence plate holder said World’s Greatest Grandpa the woman with them insulted me several times said I was going to get beat I pointed out to her she was the one with the broken leg the two guys one was fat the other grey haired and slouching HA here in town hates their East Van gang which sells heroin. Pharmasave on Wallace St. staff talk openly of being HA or East Van and the RCMP laugh at their shifting gang allegiances the manager there gossips about ppls medical conditions to complete strangers. Yesterday one of the ppl running the local SDA church told me a local teen had died of an overdose. You go to the Silver Chalice Pub some staff and customers will clearly state they are HA.
Prescription drugs have harmful side effects ,that sometimes are worse ,than what you are taking the drug for ,in the first place … It’s a vicious circle…
You figure that these people would take in the environs of the beautiful forest instead of being strung out on drugs. Peoples beliefs do impact their propensity to use drugs. I also believe there is a correlation with higher education and lowered drugs use.
Nature here is great saw 4 eagles yesterday flying low by the boat launch at 42O Rupert St but 5 fires in 6 months none solved Marlee’s pot shop was the subject of a b and e.
They do some good reporting like on the Saputo connection to the American Mafia but they push an agenda and unlike CTV News they lie. Sell off the CBC like the Tory party leader has promised over and over he will do.
The real problem is childhood abuse and trauma!! This is the deep root cause of the problem!! Giving them free drugs and safe drugs is making it worst!!!

Yes . And not just “allow”. You said it right , mental illness is the coming plandemic .
huh?
Truly a huge problem. Kudos to the people taking action and giving care, without judgment. 👍😎🇨🇦✌
so sad that even Hope is not spare with this.
Absolutely no where is spared

Been there, done that. It's far less effective.
Hats isn't there to support the homeless
They turn so many away when there is lots of room
They enable the addiction
They seem to only want to spread the gay agenda.
I've been to this place. It's a lonely, quite depressing town.

I used to live in Prince George and pass through this highway a lot. These towns are quaint and sleepy.
That moose looked great.
What happened to Canada

If you don’t want to get hit by a car. Don’t stand in the road. There is a solution to this problem. Don’t do drugs.
Jail or rehab thats your choice.
Or addicts use until they get a toxic batch of drug and die of illegal drug toxicity , it is heartbreaking. I don't have answers .
Here is an idea? How about NOT USING DRUGS?!?!
wow i don't think they thought of that before

Sorry Mr. self righteous but it's more complicated than that. Btw where you brought up in a shitty home environment ?

@@BC_Geoffwould that not harm the need for their service? Remember, it's all about 'harm' reduction. 😊

Hope gives Hope. Addiction has been a problem for a few decades now. There is no specivity.
They ran Rambo out of town for this ?
He was great for the tourism industry the statue of the sheriff from the movie is new and popular with the tourists taking pictures.
Now that public drug use has been re-outlawed, people are now overdosing in private with no one to help.
"folks" is the dog-whistle. It means 'them', 'others'.

Some of them care some are already on drugs or in gangs.
Dr Prescriptions are the main source of the addiction that started them off
This is not new for Hope. I was thinking of moving there 15 years ago and was told it was a depressed town with a lot of drug addicts. The place should be renamed "Hopeless".
They have no controlled drug usage program.?

What a terrible job this NDP government has done to people...
This has been going on for years and years. Don't blame the NDP for this.
It's right out my window every day minute

60% First Nations. They WERE doing just as you suggest before their homeland was confiscated.
Why drugs? Alcohol is right there for you when you needed it and not criminal when used properly.
Yup, Henry filled up a grocery store in Chilliwack with her favourite juice. 😅
Alcohol is a drug and it's caused gigantic problems in families and communities.
What ?!?!?! I mean seriously what did I just watch ?!
what concerns you about it?
11 deaths hell where I live 11 is a one day thing
Cant fix this the way everything’s going high prices imagination take over as sense of community is lost over decades. Society is hard nosed
Its simple. Look at countries who arent having these issues and go from there.
Wasting taxpayers money.
Tired of my tax dollars being wasted while as a tax paying citizen i am required to pay more and more and more and more and more
Hope-less, BC. You know why? Because the mountains block out the sun 90% of the day.
Nature here is great saw 4 eagles yesterday flying low by the boat launch at 42O Rupert St but 5 fires in 6 months none solved Marlee’s pot shop was the subject of a b and e.
De criminalize drugs ? WOW who could have seen this coming!
CBC is top propagandist channel
They do some good reporting like on the Saputo connection to the American Mafia but they push an agenda and unlike CTV News they lie. Sell off the CBC like the Tory party leader has promised over and over he will do.

because of Liberal and NDP system is multinationed
Birdy num num
Rambo fought for your right to be a junkie!
What was really needed was Bruce Willis and Die Hard. Seems more fitting. 🤣
You can thank the drug dealers Eby & Henry for this.
The Trudeau and NDP drug policy is a total fail the BC Conservative drug policy and crime policy is much better.
