These are so neat! I think I have to make that tote, or, a purse with this idea for sure. Thank you so much for all this sewing inspiration goodness. I am really loving your teaching methods, watching you do the free motion, and you obviously have a great time, also.
Hi Julia what a fabulous design, I just love it. I treated myself to some of these marker, they are absolutely wonderful. As always Julia you design such beautiful creations. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and creativity with us all. I hope you are all keeping well. Sending you all my love as always Julia, you are such an inspiration to me. Xxxxxxxxxxx Dorothy 🙋🏻😘❤️🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Hi Dorothy, I am having fun with these markers and find that they are very easy to use. I feel like a kid with a new box of crayons! LOL. Have a great week. Hugs, Julia
Yay Julia, got my first set of Arteza fabric markers with 10% discount code. Can’t wait to use them and thanks so much for another fantastic and inspiring tutorial ❤️
Hi Julia - These turned out adorable. I love your designs. Wish I could hang out in your head for awhile. Love everything you made. Pretty colors on the markers too.
Oh Julia, what a sweet whimsical design and execution 🥰👏 - luuuove your coloring technique and left side free-mo quilting complement to the appliquéd hexes on the right!
Great project and wonderful instructions. For me I go an inch and then backstitch and go forward, It seems to help me have a bit more control. Thanks for a great video.
Such a fun project ! Having decorated my share of cakes free motion script came a bit more easily to me. LOVE painting and drawing on fabric to embellish the handbags that I make. Thanks for sharing this idea. I read somewhere (not sure if it’s true) that if you use Frixion markers too aggressively a shadow of them may appear if the project gets very cold. Like anything, I take online info as questionable. 8-)
Yes, I have heard that with the Frixion pens also. I have not experience any reoccurring but some have. I hope someone comes up with the same pen that is formulated for fabric. The concept is wonderful! Thanks for watching, Julia
You would have to be such a sweet lady. You're fun to watch and I love the things you do. Your projects are unique. I loved the zipper pouch you showed. I love all the colors and layers. Your work is never boring. Its 3 dimensional and just amazing. Great video today.
They are very different. The fabric markers are easier to control. They stay on top and do not spread into the fibers. The Inktense will spread but I love the watercolor effect they give. The markers are easier. Hope this helps. Julia
I’m making my granddaughter a fabric photo book. I want to make it simple but not look that way! I have soooooo many pics but I also want to add free motion. I think. Any suggestions to help. I love your sight but now I’m overwhelmed 🥺🤷🏻♀️
I was wondering what is the cheapest sewing machine that you can do with a free motion stitching on? I have a brother Project Runway machine can I do it on it? How do you drop the feed dog?
Hi, I looked on-line at the Project Runway machine and it looks like you can lower the feed dogs with a lever. ( Some machines have a plate to cover the feed dogs instead of a lever to lower) You may want to refer to your manual. It looked like there might be more than one model of the Project Runway machine so I'm not sure if I was looking at the correct one. If a free motion foot is not in your accessory kit, you will have to purchase one. Hope this helps, Julia
I really love the Inktense too. The fabric markers are more controllable. They stay on top and don't bleed into the fibers. I love the Inktense for the watercolor look. Both have different uses. Thanks for watching. Julia
Hi, I am traveling in warmer climate for the next few weeks and do not have the stencil with me. I am guessing that it is approximately 5" across and 3" tall. Thanks for watching! Julia
stitchesbyjulia I'm sure you were so relieved . My Niece in Colorado got a couple of inches that melted the next day. We got a rainy day, and now it's days of beautiful autumn weather.
I just have a regular sewing machine, is that outlining possible on that? can I just use the markers to outline and will they bleed if it gets washed ? thanks!
Hi, I use a regular sewing machine to do all my free motion stitching. You do need a quilting or darner foot. Also disengage your feed dogs. You can also use permanent markers to outline. Pitt pens or Arteza Fabric Markers work well. Stay away from alcohol markers ( Sharpies), they tend to seep into the fibers and spread. Thanks for watching! Julia

Which do you prefer. Arteza fabric markers or derwent inktense pencils?
They are very different. The fabric markers are easier to control. They stay on top and do not spread into the fibers. The Inktense will spread but I love the watercolor effect they give. The markers are easier. Hope this helps. Julia

I like Inktense better, and the blocks last forever. ❤️your project, all of them!!
I really love the Inktense too. The fabric markers are more controllable. They stay on top and don't bleed into the fibers. I love the Inktense for the watercolor look. Both have different uses. Thanks for watching. Julia
So Loving your work Julia, What size is your Bee stencil? Xx
Hi, I am traveling in warmer climate for the next few weeks and do not have the stencil with me. I am guessing that it is approximately 5" across and 3" tall. Thanks for watching! Julia
I love them all and love your fabric choices. The tassles were a nice touch on the bags. How did the winter storm affect you?
We were on the very edge of the storm with mostly rain and only a dusting of snow. Parts of ND had over 2 feet of the white stuff! Yuck!

@@stitchesbyjulia thank you!
How long did it take you to become so adept at free motion stitching?
I've been doing it for several years. I started with the "herkie jerky" stitch and sewing around appliques. I really enjoy it. Julia
How are they for bleeding beyond he lines? I'd like to do a design on white canvas sneakers. Any info would be appreciated. TFS!
Hi, I have not had any bleeding beyond the lines. They stay on top and do not bleed into the fibers. Hope this helps. Julia
