Dr Chung, you are a gem! I have recently been dealing with a fissure that my doctor thought had healed. Some bleeding has returned so a colonoscopy has been ordered to make sure nothing else is going on. I’m super anxious, because nobody wants to see blood, but you certainly have a calming way about you. Thank you for all you do!
Don't forget fungal infection can cause intense itching, particularly in sweaty people or in hot humid climates. I seldom have any problems apart from the occasional dry skin and when I put on a small amount of hydrocortisone cream I always add a little anti-fungal cream. In humid climates I like using a hair dryer briefly after shower to dry out residual moisture, also between my toes.
Over 16 years of itching, I tried everything and by everything, I mean everything (including Pranicura. Sorry.) The 4th doctor I consulted FINALLY suggested allergy testing. I showed a sensitivity to 6 things and, although it was not easy with some of them, I completely eliminated them all (or so I thought)... with no relief. What a disappointment! But one thing I showed a sensitivity to was formaldehyde. Most toilet tissue will say on the label (or you will be told if you contact the companies that make it) that there was no formaldehyde added. Oh... so you think it is formaldehyde-free? Silly you. The operative word is "added." Sure, they didn't "add" any formaldehyde, but most proclaim proudly on their label that the tissue was made with "100% recycled paper" (because we have to save the planet, don't ya know.) And there's the problem. Much paper is manufactured with formaldehyde added for a few reasons, and when the toilet tissue companies recycle that paper, formaldehyde ends up in the tissue. So, once I became aware of this, I totally eliminated toilet paper. Not pleasant at first, but I am here to say that AFTER 16 YEARS of itching, I am now celebrating Day 28 of No-Itching!!!!!! (By the way, many women experience itching in other areas "down there" and it has been linked to toilet tissue. If you are one, ditch the TP and see if your symptoms improve.) Here's what I have switched to for #2: www.amazon.com/dp/B0B3QZQ71R?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details. I follow that with a rinse with the hand-held shower head as Dr. Chung advises. Also, no soap is necessary. (I also use no creams of any type.) I am not all that good with "change," but I am now adjusted, and not itching 24/7 is really great! (For #1, I use 100% cotton squares cut from an old t-shirt which are easily washable.) Sorry if this is TMI. My only goal is to help those who have suffered as I have. WHAT A RELIEF!
@@pearlkally8325 Please reread my post. I do not use toilet paper at all. Zero. Nada. Zilch. Doing that is what stopped the itch. It was a bit of an adjustment, but for the first time in 16 years, the itch is gone. Be brave and try it out. I hope it works for you too. One thing I forgot to mention: I did use hydrocortisone cream for about 5 days to bring down the itch quickly as I had done a few times in the past, but this time I also eliminated ALL toilet paper. The itch did not return. I am day 28 of no itch.)
@@pearlkally8325 As the doctor said, you sometimes have to give things a little time to calm down, so I encourage you to do so after eliminating toilet paper. I really hope you get relief. You might also want to be allergy tested in case it is something else that is causing the problem. For example, there is a substance called cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) that is in just about every soap product (shampoo, shower gel, laundry soap, dish soap, even conditioners and tooth paste) and many people are allergic to it. In 2004, it won the "Allergen of the Year" award given out by the American Contact Dermatitis Society! That's another avenue to explore. Hoping the best for you!
Months and months and months of absolute horrible itching (external hemorrhoid) GONE because I stopped wiping and started cleaning with a bidet bottle I got off Amazon. It’s been a month now and I have zero issues. I tried so many ointments and such, spending so much money. I am so grateful!
Came to find out it wasn't anything else but atopic dermatitis. It's started there and came to my arms and sides. I'm healed now. Taking good care of it with some Epizone and cleaning myself every morning and night.
Hey Doc, question....is it safe to use an antihistamine based cream on our bottom area (mixed with Decitin, as you suggested)? I did a bit of research and it doesn't seem to be recommended, but I can't find the reasons why. Maybe it's safe enough to use for a short period of time, as per your 30 day suggested routine? I've tried it for a couple days so far and boyoboy is it ever effective. And thanks for all your great advice, it's often been very helpful as I navigate some new-to-me symptoms in my bottom area.
Doc can you make a video on internal haemorroids …. Two years ago i had rubber banding . It worked magic. And now i have one more again. Time to time it bleeds. What do you suggest. Please.
Thank you for answering my long time question about hydro cortisole cream... I just went over 20 days till i stop it, it because my GP told me i can used it for a long time, but when i browse on internet it said no more than 14 days. And about desitin cream, there two type of it.. the purple one and the blue one.. which one should we use? Is there any difference? Thanks
