Listening to the first one I thought “Wow, I really like this one! It sounds so familiar for some reason.” Then I see the song list and it’s literally called “The Ballad of Roland.”
I was listening to an old cassette tape I own of Norwegian folk music which an Episcopal priest made for me. We shared a common faith and interest in Norway and he actually spent time there during college. So I was trying to find two tunes in particular that I found especially haunting and moving so that's why I discovered your Part 1 and Part 2. What the hell??? Only 10 likes?!? This is soul music!!! I find it more emotionally profound than American Appalachian or even Irish fiddle music. I don't think either style has as much impact. So anyways - as my Norwegian grandpa would say after I brought him a beer and small plate of pickled herring - "tusen tak"! (hope I spelled it right!
Love from korea! Hi guys !! I am looking for a Norwegian song ! I don't know the lyrics but it sounds like that to me. Does anyone know this song? It's so nice😍 🇳🇴 Hei folkens.

I had the same reaction. Powerful and awesome. I'm now wondering about my ancestry as it felt so "known" for some reason
This Norski loves this selection of songs. Thank you.
Your welcome.
thanks for putting these together! I'm a Norwegian-American learning more about my heritage [and Norwegian is misspelled on part 2 :)]

I’m glad you enjoyed the completions. :)
I like the song, "Rolandskvadet", the way the women sing it. Some of the others seem derived from Irish songs or recent popular songs.
Lovely! I find all the Nordic countries fascinating.
I’m gonna post a Swedish compilation pretty soon.
Same feeling)
