love the car....my old man had one for a while....got it upto nearly 300,000 miles with his trips to aberdeen and back.....the 1.6 with the weird sounding engine....massive boot. good memories
I'll try and find out for you for sure Jack. Next April is the 25th anniversary of the first car coming off the production line in Sunderland and I will be going back there for a ceremony of some sort or another. Good luck with the car - I had two of them and clocked up nearly 200K miles (and no problems whatsoever).
strange how i know it from years ago, as i was born in 86 but love all the 80's music and films, but any hoo its a good theme :) classic car by the way, i also remember those
my dad had a 89 2.0 SLX T72 A great car but a little bit to rusty for TÜV here in germany ;-( but Now i drive a Primera p10 SRi my sister drive his 3rd Micra and my brother-in-law primera P11 Station Wagon
Do you know your bluebird was one of the very first to be made in the Sunderland factory? I know as I worked there at the inception and the blacked out centre strip on the bumper soon gave way to a full painted bumper.
@JohninRosc Hey, thanks for the comment. As far as I know my car was one of those built in Japan, though it's very hard to know for sure :) One thing I find odd about the car is the SR badge - it seems they made a few with that and then switched to ZX, of which there were thousands. That's awesome that you worked at the factory :)
Era of Lancia Delta, shares Nissan Skyline R31 & R32 engine, CA. Failed to replace the Datsun 510 in 86 for the older gen but long bonnet means good space for bigger engine swaps or twin turbos intercoolers etc. Real classic.
i was born in 95. i should like bugatti veyrons and piagani zondas ans such, but for some bizarre reason i love these three box cars, especially the nissan bluebird. the trouble is, insurance will be 4,500 pounds per year when i learn to drive! argh!
Sorry, just one rider to the comment I made yesterday. If the interior light in the centre of the roof is circular rather than square/rectangular, then it was one of the small amount of launch stock shipped from the Oppama factory in Japan until Sunderland was up and running to supply Europe (but most of those were C reg). I'm not a geek I promise, this is just something I know something about and I want to tell the world!!

Don't know if you saw top gear this week but there's a website called howmanyleft.co.uk. You can find out how many of any type of car is still registered in the UK. You have a real rare thing there!
@moglove109 True but thats almost as cheap as it gets unless you want to be seen in a KA. btw Try "I-Kube" insurance they can cut the price by 40%-ish.
@moglove109 Hi, I'm 17 at the moment and I might be getting a 1988 1.6 LS bluebird and I'v found insurance for £2548 so you don't need to worry too much mate. :)
If your Bluey is a T12 it's japanese built. Your chassis number should start with JN and should also tell you that yours is a T12. If your Bluey has a SJN chassis number with T72 in it, yours is one from sunderland.

Love Crocketts theme being played! Lovely car, would like to get one but finding one is a right job.
My dad had a 1990 1.6 Bluebird from new, until it was stolen in 2011. Only had 60k miles on it.
+Carcarlo Pravettoni no I'm not. However that's an offensive word to use.

sweet looking car . . . . even the 1.8 couldn't pull the socks off a dead man though. Notoriously under powered/under engineered.
