I am very happy to see other people move to chemicals, and openly talk about it. My first infestation 6 months ago, I was told the bugs were root mealybugs. For 6 months, I have been loosing plants while fighting them off. 2 weeks ago, I became so mad, and reached out to experts. I was not fighting Root Mealybugs. I was fighting Root Aphids, and a bad infestation. I had to get rid of many of my loved cacti. They moved into my Elephant Ear plants. Now that I have moved to chemicals, I have a great chance of my plants surviving. I clean the pots at 125°F. Then I spray them to prevent bugs from moving in. I take the soil, and put it into a large turkey pan, and cook the dirt at 385°F for 20 minutes. I pull it out, stir the soil, then cook it for another 20 minutes. This kills all the bugs and eggs. For the first time in 6 months, I am finally winning the war. I never knew these bugs existed. All my cacti were so healthy for 2 and a half years. I went to a greenhouse, and brought home the mothership of Root Aphids. I was so upset when I realized what I had done by mistake. Make sure you have a quarantine area when you remove the dirt into a cooking pan. I do mine in the kitchen, and when I'm finished, I mop the floor with bleach and water, and wipe down any area with a sponge bleach and water. I know this video is 2 years old, but I hope this helps, and I hope your plants are doing good! Watching From Iowa 🤗
I really appreciate ur struggle for the survival of ur plants . I can feel the pain u've experienced. Wishing u very best of luck for future........happy gardening. And yes ! finally my plants got rid of these bugs .......... In fact chemical should not be our first choice but sometimes it is the only option left to save our plants & that time we shouldn't hesitate to use them or talk about them .
Great video, thank you. Although the second insect was not roly poly. Those were mealybugs. They usually infest leaves and stems and hide in tough-to-reach places. They also roam around the soil sometimes
Facing the same problem in my balcony garden.. How did that insecticide work for you? Was that effective..? Did it harm any plant..? Can i use it in these hot days in UAE. Please answer
Hi 🙋🏻♀️ Sis It’s sad to know that the infestation of these insects was so bad that u has to take extreme measures . I am no expert in these but I have seen many using organic turmeric powder and limestone powder to treat the old soil as well as infested ones.
Gd to hear suggestions from u dear. Actually I tried termaric & it didn't work for me 😔. But for sure I ll try to arrange some lime stone pwd & use it next time👍 .
3 to 4 gm soak per litre water, stir n put directly through ur tub soil. Once in a month. M not making vlogger as lk u . Bt I lk discussion, solution....etc
Try nicotine solution look up a recipe. You use a organic tobacco steep and let sit for 24 hrs. Strain and add a small amount of dawn dish soap and spray leaves and stems with it you can water with it too.
@@GardeningInGulf I say they are insects that break down larger bits of wood in the soil. Centipedes eat wood lice ( Rolly Pollies) earwigs are another story. Considered beneficial because they break down garden debris like fallen leaves. Sadly they also eat live plant matter as well as decaying organic matter. All part of the soil biome.
I bought it from a horticulture shop in the industrial area of our city (Alain) . You can get it from any shop selling agricultural equipments & stuff.
thats diatomaceous earth right?..how do you manage to kill the insects if you keep watering your soil everyday?..it only works when soil is dry...what about the insects beneath the soil?

Hi
Its sad to see the insects in your beautiful pots ..
But when you used chemical for the insects isn't it harmful for your plant?
No, in fact it has helped in soil cleansing & now my palm is doing better.
@@GardeningInGulf Masha Allah good to hear that ... beautiful video's you are making best of luck for future 😃👌👌👍

Those centipedes are beneficial . Nematodes will take care of non beneficial bugs.
Seriously ! centipedes r beneficial ? But they look dangerous to me , what if they out grow in number ?
And what do u say about these rolly pollies?

Neem oil is overrated. Never helped me for foliage also.
I agree with you ,neem oil is only beneficial if used as a precautionary measure not as cure.
neem oil is not used to kill insects..it helps with fungi and also prevents fruit flies etc to lay eggs in fruits..
Yes .....M totally appreciate
Pls where can I get the chemical?
I bought it from a horticulture shop in the industrial area of our city (Alain) . You can get it from any shop selling agricultural equipments & stuff.
