  • I have taught millions of people to solve their first 3x3 Rubik's Cube using this beginner's method. For this tutorial, I collaborated with Matty Hiroto Inaba, ranked 6th in the WCA (World Cube Association) who will help you solve your first 3x3 Rubik's Cube!
    📚 EXAMPLE SOLVE: • Example Solve Beginner...
    💪 LEARN TO GET FASTER AT THE BEGINNER METHOD
    • Solve the Rubik's Cube...
    🚨 By reinserting or twisting pieces of the Rubik's Cube, you can put your cube in an UNSOLVABLE state.
    Your cube is unsolvable if:
    If at step 7:07, you have one, or three yellow edges next to the yellow center
    If at step 10:19 you can only get 2 corners in the correct spot
    If at step 11:16 you do everything correct, but the cube never gets solved.
    If this happens, you need to (CAREFULLY) disassemble and reassemble the cube.
    I demonstrate this during the example solve: • Example Solve Beginner...

    READ BEFORE COMMENTING!!!
    ⁉ Common Questions
    5:10 Some people struggle figuring out which side the edge needs to go. While facing the edge, look at the top color of that edge, and then look which center of the cube has that color. This will be either the left or the right center, and is also the side the edge needs to go.
    6:15 A lot of people are confused at this (how do we insert a random edge in that position?!). That's why I have this video where Matty shows the entire process more carefully: ua-cam.com/video/FjiIGVS0MqI/v-deo.html

    This is a great tutorial; I learned the cube about 24 yrs ago, (taught by family, before you could find a million videos on everything online) & my son who is 22 recently took an interest in learning. I told him to practice the top layer to get a feel for it. About a week later, he came and said, "I can solve the cube now", I said, "uh, what? Seriously?" Then he showed me & I said, "I gotta see this video!" You solve it upside and backward to how I learned, which vexes me as I'm set in my cube ways, but it's basically the same. I'm a bit out of practice too so looking forward to sort of relearning with your method. I've also done some practicing with corners first method yrs ago so going to see if you have any tips on that. Which is the fastest method in your experience? I haven't searched your channel yet but will. Cheers & happy cubing!

    • @Beanpolr
      @Beanpolr 15 днів тому

      @ZMG_ It appears the entire cube is all messed up after solving the first corner, don't worry about it. Continue solving the individual corners regardless of what the rest of the cube looks like. Eventually as you do the right algorithms to solve the corners, it will organize itself again, until you finally get them all and it looks like his does, where you just have to shift the bottom.

  • @kesshami
    @kesshami 14 днів тому +2

    Small suggestion, since you are trying to teach, it would not kill you to go slower with the steps at each stage instead of expecting everyone to be able to memorize the algorithms in the same videos. We don’t all have a second practice cube. I constantly rewound to remind myself what the heck you were talking about. And you didn't explain the second layer well enough to account for all the possibilities.
    Also, there is never a need to disassemble a cube. I had a problem that you said to disassemble the cube for but I simply repeated some of the second layer steps once I had figured them out on my own by applying them to colors you didn't apply them to(yellow squares) I finally got a configuration on the top you covered.

    • @klee9016
      @klee9016 8 днів тому

      @kesshami
      I couldn't figure out what he was talking about with that either. If a cube needs to be disassembled it needs to be returned to the store unless someone has been throwing it up against the wall or something.
      Using Smartube instead of UA-cam I am able to slow down the video to .25 and figure out the first two layers. He goes so rapidly with the top layer that even with it being completely slowed it has completely screwed up my cube nine times now.
      I'm starting to wonder if he has deliberately done that.

    • @goldeer7129
      @goldeer7129 2 місяці тому

      You need to only look for edge pieces that do not have yellow on them because the goal of this step is to do the 2nd layer, which has no yellow on it so we don't care about these pieces yet. If all the pieces have yellow on them, do as they say in the video

    One thing though is that I feel like the part at 6:15 could have a bit more detail as I'm currently stuck on how to insert a yellow edge into the spot without completely messing up my cube.

    I realized it wayyy later but when teaching a beginner, loads of people just doesn't explain every pieces and the basic functions of the cube.
    It is quite a crucial step yet it gets overlooked surprisingly often. A girl who sits next to me tried to do one side but instead of seeing the pieces as 3d shapes with 2 or 3 sides, she was seeing all of them as 2d flat colors that is composed of 54 different pieces. And that even made the cross step hard for her

    Hi - I'm new to this and thanks to your videos I can solve the first two layers by myself (F2L) - it was easier as i thought! - but I still have to look at the algorithms for PLL and OLL. Its not easy to memorize such long sequences. Today i ordered the "Yoo Cube" (via your link - with your setup). Also 1x FZ-Rush and FZ-Calm to make my First Cheap Cube "workable". I'm curious to see when I'll be able to solve the cube independently (on my own) without looking at my selfmade cheat sheets :)

    I have ADHD. I am 45 years old. I still do not know how to solve one of these. I guess that people who teach these videos “try” to explain in layman’s terms how to easily put the pieces in place. What I figured out on my own by watching this video today is that not one single person has ever said that you are multi tasking or “thinking ahead” (which is horrendous to my brain)with every single moveyou are making. kinda like chess. I need a “if you have ADHD” how to video lol. Or just tell me to go start an ant farm lol.

    Yo tysm Matty!! Just a word of advice, No one gets it the first try. When you don’t have time to get it right, When will you find the time to do it over? It happens to the best of us. It will take some time But just never give up! Just like a wise person said, The best way to succeed is to try again!! If any of you are trying to solve a cube but just can’t get it. NEVER. GIVE. UP!!!!!! You will make it!!
