This can definitely work in Honduras. The challenge here is the water and plankton, I'd have to investigate more on that matter. Do those snails eat the trash? Did you import these? Or are they endemic? Thank you for shwing us this, this sums up years of experience. I will try and apply this here. I'd have to find the right endemic specie. They say they are invasive, but they sure are a good source of protein. How much water do you have to be pouring in there? Is the bottom no permeable? This is great info! People can benefit from this here, in rural areas, it does provide jobs and well, protein too.
Would i be able to grow them all in one pool? I would be eating them 24/7 as they grow older so it wouldnt overrun the pool right? Its a 10 by 30 and i might buy two so that i can move the crawfish and sort through them to get the big ones.
I've heard prices of 2000b per kilo in Thailand. Not sure if country folk would pay that but bkk hiso folk are. Ps, what does your wife call them in Thai/Issan? Thankyou
We've never heard of them reaching that kind of price Kris, even if they're harvested at full size. They're usually priced around the same price as the large freshwater prawns. Toon calls them Gung-Crayfish to the locals who ask what they are.
I agree Jonathan. Problem is that Toon is at the helm of the crab tank & I'm now allowed to fiddle with it in any way.....Let's just say, at the moment, it's a tank that has a few crabs in it & not a lot going on in there lol.

Incredible fish tank. They survive on little water which is remarkably interesting. Are they selling well already or still in the process scaling up? And did you consider to add a few more fish tanks in future?
Love what your doing. In Oz yabbies are mainly herdavours so no need meat to spoil the water.Chuck a chem free hay/ straw bail in there is all they need along with the floating weeds
I think you should’ve made the wall higher so every now and again you could put a goat in there so you’re not creating more work trimming the grass down just an idea you’re certainly making good progress keep it up
Loving it! The progressive stock ponds are a very old way of producing fish or crayfish, it’s good to see a system in the field! You guys are doing good and setting an example. Love and Respect!
I had Crabs once , They were itchy, So I threw on them a cup of whiskey 🥃 and a handful of sand ,,,, They got that drunk and violent, that they stoned each other to Death 💀🤔⁉️😂🤣😂🤣😂🇦🇺
Question at the homeland of my gf they set up 400 cm x 200 cm x 150cm deep box for catfish farming. They think they can just put water and the catfish and feed. but do they need filter and do they need air? and how many catfish should go in there?
How cool!! I love seeing the different ways people raise these guys. Here's a neat video I saw about how they do it in Texas: ua-cam.com/video/U2YFhW-60KE/v-deo.html

Hi John, that blue netting is no good but I've seen a few growers using it out here. We currently have juveniles for sale. Details are on our website www.porpeangfarmthailand.com Cheers.
About once every three weeks. Sometimes we miss a batch & they hatch in the tank with all the adults. Most get eaten but there's usually 50 or so that still survive.

I wanna work for you... But why not work with a more peaceful species, marbled crayfish seems really easy...
Thank you for sharing your knowledge how to make a handle Cray Fish.

very cool!! thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching Ray C. It's much appreciated.
Hey Leigh I used to breed yabbies and had corrugated perspex cut in strips and glued on top of each other. It gives the little ones high rise living.
Yabbie Condos lol.
Awesome setup Leigh. I'm always impressed with how quickly you learn new skills and get success with your farming endeavors.
The guppies dont eat the baby crayfish?
No Ryan, never seen them nibble on one unless it's already dead.
Keep it up great vids 👍
My volume was set too high, Toon scared the crap out of me with her HI YA at the start.
Do you know what your breed of dog is? Because I swear the street dogs in Panama, and Colombia looked just like that dog.
All our dogs have been what they call Thai soi dogs (mixed breeds.)
Thank you for the reply
How exciting! New to this and will watch all your videos. How do I get started with buying or finding them? Thanks Leigh! Subscriber from Florida, USA
Sorry what is the green stuff called in the first area ? I have a hard time with ANY accent lol it's my 🧠 lol 😆
I would watch a cartoon based on your backyard
Lol brilliant
How old crayfish breed?
6-12 months.
Won’t the crayfish just dig underneath the pond barrier?
Not the red claw crayfish. They do use existing holes as hiding places but it's a species of crayfish that doesn't dig. Cheers.
I've always said that 1 and a half to 2 inches is big enough, you agree Leigh?......
Any more is just a waste mate.

Apple snails.
Apple snails.
