    This can definitely work in Honduras.
    The challenge here is the water and plankton, I'd have to investigate more on that matter. Do those snails eat the trash?
    Did you import these? Or are they endemic?
    Thank you for shwing us this, this sums up years of experience. I will try and apply this here.
    I'd have to find the right endemic specie. They say they are invasive, but they sure are a good source of protein.
    How much water do you have to be pouring in there? Is the bottom no permeable?
    This is great info! People can benefit from this here, in rural areas, it does provide jobs and well, protein too.

    Would i be able to grow them all in one pool? I would be eating them 24/7 as they grow older so it wouldnt overrun the pool right? Its a 10 by 30 and i might buy two so that i can move the crawfish and sort through them to get the big ones.

    Hey Leigh I used to breed yabbies and had corrugated perspex cut in strips and glued on top of each other. It gives the little ones high rise living.

      Not the red claw crayfish. They do use existing holes as hiding places but it's a species of crayfish that doesn't dig. Cheers.

    I've heard prices of 2000b per kilo in Thailand. Not sure if country folk would pay that but bkk hiso folk are.

      We've never heard of them reaching that kind of price Kris, even if they're harvested at full size. They're usually priced around the same price as the large freshwater prawns. Toon calls them Gung-Crayfish to the locals who ask what they are.

      I agree Jonathan. Problem is that Toon is at the helm of the crab tank & I'm now allowed to fiddle with it in any way.....Let's just say, at the moment, it's a tank that has a few crabs in it & not a lot going on in there lol.

    Incredible fish tank. They survive on little water which is remarkably interesting. Are they selling well already or still in the process scaling up? And did you consider to add a few more fish tanks in future?

    Love what your doing. In Oz yabbies are mainly herdavours so no need meat to spoil the water.Chuck a chem free hay/ straw bail in there is all they need along with the floating weeds

    I think you should’ve made the wall higher so every now and again you could put a goat in there so you’re not creating more work trimming the grass down just an idea you’re certainly making good progress keep it up

    Question at the homeland of my gf they set up 400 cm x 200 cm x 150cm deep box for catfish farming. They think they can just put water and the catfish and feed. but do they need filter and do they need air? and how many catfish should go in there?

      Alas, the George Michael growth is no more me ol chestnut. Although I, and many many others I might add, were huge fans of the rugged outdoor look, a stong wind came in from the south and blew it off. It's not all bad though, just applied the salad cream from the fridge as a cooling balm.

    Impressed with what you are doing,well done,I am doing something similar in the south of Thailand,have you any juveniles for sale?I've just got to complete my barrier and get the fisheries inspection completed then I'll buy a couple of thousand.Is Fisheries OK with a shade cloth barrier?I was thinking they could get a grip on that and climb out.

    How often do you check them gotten pregnant?

      About once every three weeks. Sometimes we miss a batch & they hatch in the tank with all the adults. Most get eaten but there's usually 50 or so that still survive.

      It is neither lol, arthropod Crustacean, basically a Malacostraca family, also known as water insects. But this will put a smile on Leigh's chops, the Malacostraca family make up the worlds most biomass....
