2024 Odessa Desert 100 Race | Honda CRF450X POV

The 52nd Annual 2024 Stumpjumpers Motorcycle Club Odessa Desert 100 endurance dirt bike race, April 7, 2024.
This was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. Harder than running a half marathon with no prior training. Harder than riding my bicycle 200 miles over 2 days. Harder than any backcountry ski, mountain bike, or hike I’ve ever done. 100 miles over incredibly rough, rocky terrain. I got a flat front tire at 22 miles in, and decided to push through the next 78 miles to the finish. As a result of having little control over my front end, I crashed over a dozen times, one of which smashed a hole in the side of my clutch cover at 86 miles in, and leaked out all my transmission oil. I was determined to finish, and I persevered until the end, crossing the finish line at right around 6 hours of nonstop riding. The next morning, I couldn’t remember a time when I had been this sore. Every single muscle in my body ached. But other than one bruise on my leg, I came through uninjured, and am incredibly thankful for that. What an experience.

Ya, I'm pretty sure we had only had 1 giant zip tie, 2 large zip ties, and the rest were 2 or 3 small zip ties chained together to fit around the tire
