Does anyone know a little more about this show. There's none of Mick Taylor's regular set list. It seems more like a Roger Troy show, but how did Taylor get involved?
I am local to the Davenport area. It is definitely the Davenport band-shell. There is a Blues Festival that goes on here annually. I know being a three hour drive from Chicago, in the mid 80s, that was the place to be for sure. My guess is that Mick was there more as a fan to watch his heroes than anything else.
Mick Taylor, Roger Troy, Colin Allen, and David Cohen. Looks like a summer tour. Apparently they played Born Under a Bad Sign on this tour. I’d love to hear Mick Taylor on that.
I don't get it-what are you talking about?! Keef is a master riffmeister/rhythm player who plays nice Chuck Berry style solos. Taylor is a superb legit lead player which Richards is not. That's it. They were so good together because of that. You can ask Mick Jagger what he thinks--he'll agree with me and a sizeable percentage of the guitar community as well!
Richards is overrated, Jagger writes almost all of the songs, Richards supplies one or two riffs in 50 odd years of playing and people think he is a genius, pffft.
I doubt the world will see another great blues man as good as MT again
Left Davenport at age 10. Figures all the good stuff would start coming to town once I was gone.
The late Roger Troy on bass. Great voice...great chops.
he doesn't look very old, do you know about how old he was when he died?
Great voice
He never hits a bum note and what a slide player.
God of blues guitar absolutely
Beautiful BB king style playing at 20:00

It`s not his guitar and amps. Probably a guest.

@@philfrank9226 Same guitar he used with the Stones (in the studio) and Jack Bruce
And Bluesbreakers drummer Colin Allen.
Not. Very. Good.
What is this fucking bullshit? Where is Keith when you need a good solo?
When you really need a stuttering, sloppy pentatonic, Keith is the man to call.
lapaz62 You mean a syncopated, rhythmically complicated NOT pentatonic, because he's probably in Open G, genius of a solo, you call the Riff Master.

@@Marcus_C51 Fuck Mick! Long Live the King, Keef!
Mick is so overrated , he couldn't lift Keith's jockstrap.

lapaz62 Now that has to actually be the stupidest comment I have ever read.
I think they’re both great, and even better together!
Mick Taylor and amazing blues player and one of the best slide players ever... just listen to Moma lyon at 36:23 Were you born yesterday btw?
