Not sure if that's a genuine concern, or simply an attempt to create a heated conversation, but I'll reply anyways. That map is absolutely correct... for navigational purposes. Since our planet is a spheroid (no matter what those flat-earthers say) if you want to draw a flat map, you have to distort it in some way. Merkator projection (which is used almost for any map) keeps angles, shapes, and directions, which was and is important for navigation and flight control. As a drawback, areas get increasingly distorted and "bloated" towards poles. Most famous example is that Greenland appears larger than South America, while being 8 times smaller.
@@HiArashi13The earth has a foundation and 4 corners, so how is it spherical? How are we spinning at 10,000 miles an hour and at the same time feel no movement? Why is the UN logo and map, flat and not spherical? Open your eyes. Africa is way bigger than North America and the world ain't a ball.

So Borrell thinks we should improve relations with the Global South by doubling down on Ukraine, and he thinks "the issue is not a real lack of ammunition production capacity" but a "shortfall in funding". Some 'realist' he turned out to be.
Where do you infer from that Borrell wants to "double down on Ukraine"? I don't think he's too interested in confronting Russia even, he's a bit like Schröder rather: a convinced pan-Europeanist, although maybe a bit more self-contradictory. As Spaniard he's not even really invested on Eastern Europe, that's a German problem... he's much more interested on the Mediterranean region, Latin America, etc.
@@LuisAldamiz 5:20 Borrell writes: "We need to find ways to provide Ukraine with the latest technological developments." What part of that is not "doubling down" on the West's failed policy in Ukraine?

The West as a concept, has been on the back foot, going back as far as the Vietnam War. Neoliberal economics (coupled with neocon military policy) was the West’s last throw of the dice, to reassert a global hegemony it was otherwise losing. But when the 2008 capitalist crisis, crashed the living standards of ordinary citizens in the countries of the imperial core, increased military spending has become politically more problematic, no matter how much scaremongering and sabre rattling was deployed by western capitalist elites in their poltical and media classes. It’s caught between the devil of a populace now economically suffering, and the deep blue sea, of an increasingly confident Global South. Something is about to give in the imperial core. You can feel it. .
It’s based on white supremacy. How they are superior to everyone else. Look how they underestimated the capabilities of the Chinese during the chip war. China is on the verge of complete victory in chips. They can now manufacture chips down to 5nm, while the west has problems with 3nm reliability, with only 65% per wafer. China has a significant lead in AI and new Chinese AI chips are a decade ahead of NVidia, the supposed western AI chip leader.
Agree 💯 I commend your astute insight of the change that is taking place in the socio-economic landscape of the world, which began at the turn of the century, and has reached a tipping point circa the start of this decade.
As opposed to what? Silly socialism? Don’t get me wrong, you have a point about the west. But I can tell what your political values you are, and you’re just as delusional about the prevalence of your values. We’re headed to neoFeudalism where the corporations take their next form and the nation state dies or is merged with them. That’s already a thing with China being a massive corporation with Xi jing Ping as ceo and black rock being the third largest economy in the world and Elon musk being a private citizen who controls rockets. And though the “west” is indeed dying, the future dominant powers will still emerge from what is now called the west just as the west emerged from Christendom and Christendom emerged from Rome.
The world is fracturing into distinctly different systems. The West has dominated by money and corporation for the last few centuries. China is a unique mix of Socialism and Capitalism, but certainly not run by Corporations. Russia is the largely same. The rest of the Global South now has an Anti West agenda. To continue to dominate them is going to be an uphill climb going forward.
China was never colonized. Also, ironically, Russia was once seen by the Chinese as a western imperialist aggressor due to the unequal treaties in the XIX century. And yes. Russia itself was once a colonial power. Reputations can change. The US is undergoing a dramatic demographic change. Who's to say it won't eventually de-westernize politically? It's on its way to become a multi-cultural melting pot like Brazil with politics as diverse as India's.
Are you high? The west doesn't have the native population, their economic dominance is falling by the year, and nobody want to join the armed forces. Western fighting age men hate their countries with a passion. Militarily, they are already defeated in the NATO-Russian war that is in Ukraine. It is all but officially won. This shows such a weakness that Yemen is literally attacking western ships, without fear of military reappraisal. The US/UK can air bomb yemen all day long but that alone does not win military victories.
Autoritarianism is not inherently bad. Vertical power structure is in fact more transparent, than homogenised flat puddle of democratic apparatus. The latter is much more inertial both in political views and in corruption. As in it's hard to get it corrupted, and it's even harder to purge corrupion, if it's deeply rooted.
@@spacewargamer4181 You really don't know what you're talking about, only repeating someone else's words. After 8 years of Yeltsin's democratic presidency, the whole country was left in ruins (figuratively speaking), inflation was skyhigh, crime situation even worse. I admit, it is very likely that his early retirement was forced by Putin's party. But here's the thing. After Putin came to power, Russia experienced huge economic growth. In his election speech, he promised to crush criminals, and he delivered. Authoritarian? Yes. Rebuilt country ruined by 8 years of "democratic" governance? Yes. Qoud erat demonstratum.
The actors vs the real people. The collective west of today is a troupe of second-hand actors. The BRICS are the mature people and brilliant diplomats.
The US itself might undergo a dramatic political shift due to its equally dramatic demographic change. Once black and brown people (put together) form the majority of the country's population, I have a feeling it will begin to de-westernize politically.
I am happy to witness this during my lifetime. Americans have always been so unhappy under the thumb of the western Bourgeois class. We will be free soon.

Problem is that it's not "anti-imperialism" but mostly shift from one imperialism to another. Not even in many cases of western imperialism to eastern (Russian, Chinese) one but often enough from one western imperialism (France's typically) to another western imperialism (the USA).
@@PranicEnergy - France is third world with US ownership of its companies rather. Sure: France (or rather its oligarchs) have looted Africa big way but France used to be a great power long before it had any colonies whatsoever, and that power status mostly derived from its agriculture (hence it became the beloved of physiocrats, who were defeated by market capitalists but still had a strong point that has been largely forgotten in these two last centuries of brutal industrialization). What France largely lacks is minerals, including energy providing ones. In the past this fueled wars with Germany (France wanted to grab some of those Rhineland coal mines) and later the infamous uranium colonialism in Niger especially, as well as its dependency on GB/USA re. oil colonialism in West Asia. All this could be reversed if France (or Europe in general) would go radically "green" (renewables + green hydrogen) in terms of energy production, sadly it is not happening (or only extremely slowly) because of US interference (Russia doesn't help either). If Europe wants to survive as credible operative great power in some capacity, it needs to produce its own energy fundamentally from renewables and retake the industrial production capacities that has been abandoning out of complacency and excessively high cost of life (notably housing). This renewable (+ green hydrogen) need also applies to other countries without significant fuel resources such as China or India. It's not even about global warming only: it is that all fossil fuels and also uranium are being exhausted and won't exist in any meaningful capacity by the end of the century, probably quite earlier.

The 20% against the 80% is a losing game. The 80% are mostly resource rich, producers of food and military strong.with nuclear. The world is polarising.
In the past it was sustainable, because even though they were resource rich they didn't have the industry to refine and process those resources, so the west could simply nurture instability, then use bribery or force to create unequal partnerships on poor countries and take all their assets. Now with China helping industrialize the third world, and with BRICS enabling cooperation between those countries, the west has lost its leverage. The dollar reserves are their last weapon, and even that is starting to fail. Argentine is the exception, but their president is crazy.

I failed to see sadly that Western populace is mentally aware of this and start learning and working with non-Western world. Using history as our teacher, it took decades for British to realize and accept US had replaced UK as global dominant power, and likewise it may take decades too for Western to draw and conclude that Western dominance is beyond reach.
The main reason the UK lived in a bubble and saw itself as a global superpower long after that period expired is that they still retained links to many Commonwealth nations, which the US did not have a long history with, such that the UK was the central point of the "Anglosphere" culturally (no longer economically). The US was isolationist before World War II, but took over the British Empire in return for saving the UK from certain destruction during that war. Because the original British Empire was around a quarter of the world's people and land, it was a very significant network of nations who in some ways shared common goals - this type of unity is harder to find among the US and its vassal states. The American Empire is nowhere as old and well established as the British one was, and will never get that large and influential globally in future as time goes on. US Power reached its zenith in the 1990s, in the wake of the power vaccuum left by the collapse of the USSR, and has been in decline ever since.

That map is incorrect .... Africa is way bigger than North America ....
Yes at agree
You know them western barbarians. They gotta be #1 at everything, even map size. Why else they try to dominate the world?

Borrell simply incapable of changing course even when he sees the ship sinking.
@@ronrice1931 - Fair enough if it is a recent quote. Most of EU now seems willing to rather disengage from Ukraine, as seen in the reactions to Macron's aggressive and resentful declarations. But I'll grant you that neither Borrell nor the Spanish government said anything about that, they'd rather remain silent because they imagine Macron as an ally in their pan-Europeanism, even if for them Ukraine is a liability rather than an asset.

Thank you Norton for this perfectly written and interpretation of the Grobal South , it's factual and not many analysis can present as well as you .
Agree 💯
I commend your astute insight of the change that is taking place in the socio-economic landscape of the world, which began at the turn of the century, and has reached a tipping point circa the start of this decade.
Yes they want WW3.

@LuisAldamiz France is third world without African colonies.
@@LuisAldamiz you don't know what imperialism is...

Why should they dominate? Their crap of making the south the terrorists when they are and always have been. Everyone if they want to fight against “the rest” they can do it on their freakin own. No one to fight for those arrogant greedy colonialists
