- 'Radio Friendly Unit Shifter' Recorded 1/1/91. The lyrics appear to be unfinished. With the album 'In Utero' the band wanted to shy away from the polished sound of 'Nevermind' and put out a record that was less 'Radio Friendly', thus the song's meaning is self explainatory.
I was always kind of surprised Radio Friendly Unit Shifter wasn't the opener for In Utero
it's sort of like enough space by the Foo's isn't the first song on TCATS
the latter half of in utero was where all the fun and energetic ones are
this should have been the first song on In Utero so powerful
@Abe Aure Its so interesting. First 60 of 61 In Utero gigs it was RFUS first. Its unbelievable the 61st and last was not.
@@dcoop1422 well it was 2nd, they used to do this on some other shows too, play a jam for fun at first and then move on to their setlist

Yeah and seems like they were writing pieces of the 4th album during In Utero Times... And it was gonna be more experimental and less formulated.
WAY before Nvm came out. The songs you mentioned as well as RFUS, All Apologies and Sappy have their roots in 1990 or earlier. Sappy was written in 1987. Even Rape Me was written (bar the bridge) about 6 months before Nvm came out.

As good as the album version. The sheer power of the track highlights Cobain's mastery of Rock songwriting and shows why the group were the last important Rock band.

It actually is right, that's what's so cool about it. There's an all Apologies from the same session. Kinda crazy to think about.

They wrote Bleach songs in 87-89, Nevermind songs 89-91, and In Utero songs in 90-93. You have to have songs written before you can make an album of them
