Kayla, please PLEASE bring back the fixer-upper series! It was how I found you and back in 2020 and got me to come back to playing Sims again after a long hiatus. Such a good series!
I will say... I appreciate the variety of swatches on item- particularly the paint splatter swatches in the artist kit. If these came out 3 + years ago, we'd get one 'normal' swatch and 3 paint splatter swatches. I like how they're adding more and better swatches.
I think they've FINALLY realized we don't nesicarily want a bunch of new items, so much as we want new colours and variety in the items. I miss the option from the sims 3 where I could just pick ANY texture and colour combo I wanted and customize every piece of something
Which is insane because recoloring is literally the easiest thing to do in making any item. People who have never touched a digital program can learn to do it at home in 30 minutes. 😂 it’s seriously so easy if you are really dying for new swatches of something that comes in a very limited (or simishly garish) palette
There’s some good garage stuff in there too. I immediately thought of the walls for the garage and the locker piece would go well with some of the Strangerville stuff for garages and survival bunkers.
I've seen a lot more talk about the nursery kit which makes sense because it's a lot more broadly usable, but I am obsessed with the artist kit tbh! I love love love making art studios, they're my favorite kind of "skill room" to make
LILSIMSIE FIXER UPPER MENTIONED! I was obsessed with that series back in the day! Towards the end all the houses people posted were SO intricate and full of debug and TOOL mod, it was really impressive
18:43 WAIT THAT'S REALLY SAD- Agnes Crumplebottom always wanted kids but her partners kept dying- she had a half finished nursery in the Sims 3 and she's giving her old unused baby bassinets in the description
Well, they finally got me!! first time I'm gonna buy a kit - that nursery one is precisely my style, but most importantly, has the gameplay from growing together! I don't mind missing the milestones, I just really want the actual infant gameplay items
Right?! I've got a couple of other kits, but they're from freebie runs, or bundles. Storybook is the *only* one I've actually bought as a single item. It's got the gothy style, a rocking chair (which I've been wanting one for ages but wasn't sure what pack I would prefer for the other stuff), AND a couple of extra functional gameplay bits without needing to pay the higher expansion/game pack price. I mean, really, if you don't already have Growing Together, then what's not to love!? The kit's a bargain!
Knowing EA it's probably just the items; the gameplay still being restricted to Growing Together. idk though, I haven't got either. Edit: nvm some of the gameplay is in the kit, I'm impressed!
I don't currently have growing together, but I bought this kit and tested it out on my infant sim, and the changing table works! For the baby mat not as much but still it's pretty cool! ☺️
@@cryingwatercolours that's mostly because the bulk of the infant interactions are tied to Growing Together, so giving base game players Tummy Time and those other interactions would basically defeat the point of having bought DLC for the infant gameplay. The original point was that everyone would get the infant life stage but only players with Growing Together could do the proper infant raising aspect.

This has been my biggest question since the kit was announced lol
haha I'm in college for art and I can attest that the clamps on top of the draping background is sooo accurate. Those spring clamps hold up basically everything in our studio
I think I'll definitely buy the Storybook kit. Changing tables and playmats for 5 bucks instead of 60 + a bunch of bugs that come with it is huge. I'm a sucker for occults and Victorian aesthetic so it's right up my alley too, I haaaaate the mismatched neon colors of older baby/toddler/kids stuff in the game (the new cribs and beds they added recently are much better). My only gripe with this kit is that I find the photo frame item really useless. Most of the time it's not gonna match your baby and having a random baby's portrait in the room is weird. They could've given us something better instead, maybe a gothic potty or a music box radio.
yeah the photo frame is an annoyance to me too, but also i play in the victorian era often and none of the baby furniture comes in natural wood tones aside from 1 and it’s driving me crazy 😭 i think i’m gonna have to mix and match tho, i will say i appreciate the new toy box for this reason! i used to raise up a storage chest over the top of a normal (annoyingly modern) toy box, and it always looked janky
Yeah I will say when I saw the baby portrait I was hoping it could be a new photo frame bc the photo looks straight out of CAS so I'm disappointed by it but yeah the rest of the kit is so lovely
I was thinking of the photo frame being pictures of maybe the parents or grandparents as children… I think it’s a piece I might use elsewhere in the home though.
I really wish the toddler bed from the nursery came in an adult version it's such a beautiful bed. I bought both kits and I love them so much. Pastel pop and modern lux kits are next on my list.
As an alt person it’s genuinely so exciting to me that the nursery pack has an emphasis on gothic themes/decor and so many dark swatches. I definitely don’t do every build with all black everything but obviously I tend to lean to that a lot of the time as it’s my colour preference irl
I don't buy very many kits, but these 2 are definitely on my list. I make artist Sims all the time, and even though I have Growing Together and a bunch of baby CC, these are just so fancy (thanks Sixam!)
The dead flowers in the flower vase reminds me of the still lives I did in high school. For some reason the school had things like cow skulls in the storeroom for still lives. So among the baskets, fake flowers, statuettes and oddly a pinecone - there were skulls. I actually really enjoyed the two still lives I did of them, one I did with ink and bleach and the other I had to use only black and white acrylic. I miss doing still lives, I should challenge myself to do some in my spare time. Great video as always by the way!
i LOVE the accuracy of the art studio kit like the sticker residue on the file cabinets, the palette knives with the brushes, how none of the stools or cabinets match each other.. omg it is lovely
As an artist, I'd love if they implemented a more artsy-media pack as you've said, because the reality is, there are so many more artistic mediums than just painting on canvases and I never could have known all the people going into pottery, photography, glassblowing, fabrication, welding, and so much more before I went to college.
glassblowing and welding in the sims omg... or smithing!!! oh i'd LOVE smithing. personally im too heat-sensitive to do any of those things irl (im on meds that make me overheat really easy... like 65F outside is too hot for me lol) but i'd love to live my lesbian sword-making dreams in a smithing update for the sims
Satch suggested that you should be able to paint your woodworking creations. And honestly I can't stop thinking about it. It would be a cool way to make the creations you make for more decor (it might just convert the created chair into the build buy swatches. Instead of painting it.)

It would be fun, could have a rabbit hole/work from home job, work your way up from assistant, also an editor job where you have to call artists about deadlines and review storyboards, drafts, etc.

This video was great quality! We appreciate all of your hard work! The storybook nursery kit isn't my personal style, but I'm glad so many people seem to like it. This is why I love kits, they are so great for cultivating individual style! I absolutely love the artist studio kit - I can't get over how beautiful and versatile the pieces are. I'm going to use it in literally every build from now on even if it's not an art studio!
I feel like the artist studio kit would work well in a high school and mesh well with the items in Highschool Years and the Storybook Nursery Kit reminds me of something that could easily be used in a palace or for royalty, it's also reminding me a bit of Princess and the Frog where Tiana and Charlotte were children.
It looked like the Storybook Nursery kit had a Lamp that you may have missed (or I might be wrong). Either way I love these videos and I've been waiting all week for lilsimsie's review because these make me so happy. These kits are so cute!!
I'm so glad we have floor splatters. When I make an art room right now, I use the newspapers from pets/cats&dogs to lay down since we don't have tarps for that. But you can't make the newspapers messy with paint... Just pet stains... So even though the easel with paint stains can look right, everything around it looks pristine.
@@Kristenhas3cats that explains it. I don't have those lol. I went for the like weird home decorator stuff first. Like the maximalist kit... Though I use cottage living and the occult one with the Seance table the most now.
@@Kristenhas3cats the harlequin living room chairs alone... The tastefully done statues... The floor tile you can tweek to look like the coat from howls moving castle ... Even those gold wall paneling frames. I bet if you put the love struck floral print wall paper behind those frames it would look so wild. Just saying.
The new woodworking table is so tempting. I haven’t purchased a kit yet, I hate the pricing, but it’s such an improvement over the base game woodworking table.
I miss the Fixer Upper series so much but I’m so happy to see all the new content that’s come about as your channel has grown! Thanks for another video Simsie!
Finally something for infants! I hope we will get even more gameplay items with them in the future. Definitely buying storybook nursery kit!!! So pretty
I totally agree, I tried watching a handful of other reviews and I felt like all of them were missing the level of professionalism and interest as lilsimsie.
I love watching Kayla's reviews of kits because she always shows me things that I missed and gives me great ideas on how to use them in my games. I bought the kits yesterday and thought they were pretty decent - but now I'm a little extra excited to have them. 😆
We need an art expansion pack or game pack... pottery, maybe even printmaking or things similar to painting but with different materials, specifically charcoal- god and it wont happen but imagine glassblowing. All together thats like, five functional items- charcoal could be an option on regular easels. The world could be so cool it could be french or scandinavian or anything theres so many options- god. I want an art expansion so bad or even just a pottery game pack
Pottery game pack... pottery game pack... a cheap wheel and a nice wheel and a small octagonal kiln and a big front loading kiln and an addition to the maker career and aaaaaaa. When will someone hear my plea
that artist wallpaper would be perfect for shipping container homes or garden sheds! In high school my friends mum painted in a shed with big french doors at the end of their garden. it looked like that inside
I love the review- what’s most surprising though is how good the audio in the hotel room is! I can’t hear any background noise, the step down in quality wasn’t noticeable after a couple minutes, and the vibe was the same. Might’ve just been simsie’s commentary hiding the setup’s shortcomings but either way great video! I can’t wait to see her play with the stuff!
I would love to see a 10 years 10 generations legacy challenge. For each generation you add in the packs released that year and celebrate them each generation. Only thing about it, is it requires owning everything which excludes most people from playing it but I think it would be so cool to watch Kayla do! Especially since early on it would be more limiting with loading only base game. Each generation can get houses and clothing that was released their year. Just been in my head this year!
right? i feel like gameplay kits that add a skill or two would be good. i mean they'd need to be fleshed out which... i dont trust the sims to do but yk lmao
As a hobby artist I'm legit actually super interested in the art studio kit. The amount of this exact furniture I've seen in art classes and such lol And I actually use the paint from reference thing with that fancy art career unlock item bc it feels realistic so having more stuff like that is fun. Especially with the very clear use of some of the art stuff taught with the shading and lighting on those items that matches the style of the game but is still obviously for art in a cool way! The wallpaper!! is so good!!!
I waited for your post to see the kits because your reactions are my favourite. Now that I’ve seen yours I can go watch a few others Simmers’ reactions. Thanks for all the effort you make for us. Have a fun Twitchcon.
I liked your Storybook house so much that I added it to my world. I put it on the lot which used to have the Goth family on it and swapped out the Storybook Nursery items for the ones you had put into the house originally. It was a lot of fun.
Been waiting for this video! I always watch Kayla's reviews before any of my other go to simmers. Kayla was the first simmer I found and ignited my love of the game
Definitely reading to deep into it, but I wounder if the circus related things in the nursery kit, like the canopy, the toy box that looks like an animal cage, the rug, and the spooky swatch on the art sketches in the studio kit are hints about the life and death expansion pack. I'd love some spooky circus/carnival related things. Either way I'm enjoying the little Grim Easter-eggs.
omg i wasn't up to date on new kits (i refuse to buy new sims expansions) but when i saw screenshots of the nursery stuff i thought it was just a new really popular cc kit! it's insane to see the details you get when cc creators make something and this looks like a (really nice) mix between maxis match and alpha cc details
I love the nursery kit, but I think the word they were looking for was "Victorian" not "storybook". But it's adorable and has a bunch of purple swatches so it's fine. 😂
So cuteee lol! I wish they would add a functional paper sketchpad like in the sims 3 university. Idk something about them sketching on paper sitting on the ground was so endearing to me.
All Of The References To Previous Sims Games In The Nursery Kit Were Specifically Sims That Were Related To The Goth Family, From What I Could Tell!! Gunther Goth, Obviously, Being Mortimer’s Dad. Agnes Crumplebottom Is Mortimer’s Aunt, And Simis Bachelor Is Bella’s Dad. And Obviously The Ophelia Villa Dollhouse And The Swatch On The Stuffed Animal That Looks Like Bella.
Well, it looks like I'll be revisiting my community lots that have art rooms and giving them all a glow-up. I can't wait! I don't even have Lovestruck yet, but these KITS have me excited. What? My high school art room is also getting revamped. Wow, I have some work to do. Let's go! Thanks for the overview. Welcome to the West Coast!
I love the darker aesthetic of the nursery kit. We get a ton of pastel stuff, which I love too, but I gravitate towards darker themes so seeing that in the game is unexpected but so welcome! Also, way to go working so hard for the content Kayla! You’re awesome! Hope you have fun and get plenty of rest when you get home!
Storybook Nursery is the first Kit I have ever bought on launch day, and I have no regrets. I love it. Also, I only have bought 3 other kits at all (I got Blooming Gardens when it was made free, so not counting it. That make Goth Galore, Cozy Bistro, and Rivera Retreat)
I wanted to love the Storybook Nursery so much but it's complete false advertising & I hate it. A Lot. It's not Storybook. It's Victorian Goth. Why lie!? Just say what it actually is.
I love both of these kits sm T-T. I especially love that the white and gold swatch from the storybook nursery kit matches my real life furniture set! (which originally belonged to my aunt's grandmother!). they're in the same style, as well, which I think is so cool :D
I love the artistic kit but to be honest I wish some of the items were optional. Imma just wait much later I didn't feel like wasting my money on that and instead I just bought a game for my ps5 instead.
the dying lilies with the fallen petals and the little mausoleum on the side of the dollhouse feels like both kits are nodding towards the Life and Death pack coming up
and the grim reaper in the art posters and the little rabbit in the circus toy box looks like it’s holding a scythe
yes but also the mausoleum is a reference to the goths, all previous goth houses have had graveyards
exactly what I was thinking! the jar with fruit item also has a "dead" swatch. the nursery kit could also be for the "life" part of the pack
Hilariously the lily is called “Lilium Mortem” so yeah it absolutely sounds like a nod to it!
I'm excited, love the kinds gothic spooky vibes

It looked like the Storybook Nursery kit had a Lamp that you may have missed (or I might be wrong). Either way I love these videos and I've been waiting all week for lilsimsie's review because these make me so happy. These kits are so cute!!
She missed 2 item lol
it would be so so cool to see a series where kayla tries to recreate sims 4 dollhouses as liveable sims houses
I love that the second swatch on those wall sketches it painting of in game fruit bowls and vases - such a cool detail!!
The pleasant view wallpaper is so good, and sixamcc’s stuff is fantastic. A big reminder about how great cc creators are m
Amazing transition to San Diego
The quality of the small items is soo much better than for example the bathroom clutter kit!! CC creators only now please EA
There's a throw cloth with paint on it, but I think it might be in city living. Oh and there's a tarp in the camping pack
@@Kristenhas3cats that explains it. I don't have those lol. I went for the like weird home decorator stuff first. Like the maximalist kit... Though I use cottage living and the occult one with the Seance table the most now.
@@mickymcmillan813 Oh hey, we must share taste because those are my favorites! People are crazy when they say the maximalist kit isn't good lol
@@mickymcmillan813 Those panelling frames are great. I use the wallpapers all the time from that kit
The new woodworking table is so tempting. I haven’t purchased a kit yet, I hate the pricing, but it’s such an improvement over the base game woodworking table.
The goth doll house has a shark pond in the back too? Definitely made for you!!!
I miss the Fixer Upper series so much but I’m so happy to see all the new content that’s come about as your channel has grown! Thanks for another video Simsie!
Finally something for infants! I hope we will get even more gameplay items with them in the future. Definitely buying storybook nursery kit!!! So pretty
as an artist who lives in a small apartment, im gonna live vicariously through that artist studio kit LOL
sixam is one of my favorite cc creators, and the nursery kit truly blew me away!! kudos to him
The nursery kit might be the first kit I buy it’s so cute 😭😭 and the pink swatches are perfect for my Barbie legacy challenge
i've turned my black widow challenge into a vampire legacy so the all black nursery decor came in perfect timing, I'm so excited to use it😻
not gonna lie I really missed this video yesterday, no other youtuber reviews kits as good as you Kayla, at least to me
I totally agree, I tried watching a handful of other reviews and I felt like all of them were missing the level of professionalism and interest as lilsimsie.
She just posted this today so you didn’t miss it.
What actually sold the storybook kit to me was the rug and the idea of building a cirkus inspired nursery
U forgot to show a woodworking station from the kit too haha
I love the review- what’s most surprising though is how good the audio in the hotel room is! I can’t hear any background noise, the step down in quality wasn’t noticeable after a couple minutes, and the vibe was the same. Might’ve just been simsie’s commentary hiding the setup’s shortcomings but either way great video! I can’t wait to see her play with the stuff!
The next heir in my legacy is an artist this kit is so perfect gonna go buy it now thanks simsie !! ❤❤
We love how the sims team loves to make Kayla struggle 😂❤❤
I love that the rug matches the toy box, in the way that the rug has a circus swatch and the toy box is a zoo train carriage. 😍😍
I've been uncharacteristically excited for these kits and I always gotta watch my fav Sims youtuber's review 😆
I love that there's so much Bella Goth Lore hidden in the Storybook Nursery Kit.
3:00 i wish bust the dust didnt flop so bad, i would love more gameplay kits
right? i feel like gameplay kits that add a skill or two would be good. i mean they'd need to be fleshed out which... i dont trust the sims to do but yk lmao
As a hobby artist I'm legit actually super interested in the art studio kit. The amount of this exact furniture I've seen in art classes and such lol
And I actually use the paint from reference thing with that fancy art career unlock item bc it feels realistic so having more stuff like that is fun. Especially with the very clear use of some of the art stuff taught with the shading and lighting on those items that matches the style of the game but is still obviously for art in a cool way!
The wallpaper!! is so good!!!
13:24 Caryn and Connie are gonna be losing it over this new plant *and* versatile swatches
I can already hear them screaming over the cracked swatch ❤😂
Thanks so much for scrambling to get this out for us! I know we all really appreciate it!!
she is working hard for all of us love this for kayla😭😭
This is dedication hahaha
Definitely reading to deep into it, but I wounder if the circus related things in the nursery kit, like the canopy, the toy box that looks like an animal cage, the rug, and the spooky swatch on the art sketches in the studio kit are hints about the life and death expansion pack. I'd love some spooky circus/carnival related things. Either way I'm enjoying the little Grim Easter-eggs.
omg i wasn't up to date on new kits (i refuse to buy new sims expansions) but when i saw screenshots of the nursery stuff i thought it was just a new really popular cc kit! it's insane to see the details you get when cc creators make something and this looks like a (really nice) mix between maxis match and alpha cc details
i'm so in love with Artist Studio. My next dreams is an upgrade on te Florist job, my fave one, i just love selling overpriced floral arrangements
Making the intro days in advance is wild
Well, it looks like I'll be revisiting my community lots that have art rooms and giving them all a glow-up. I can't wait! I don't even have Lovestruck yet, but these KITS have me excited. What? My high school art room is also getting revamped. Wow, I have some work to do. Let's go! Thanks for the overview. Welcome to the West Coast!
The fact Kayla got jumpscared by the Grim rewards screen was funny as to me, I also got jumpscared by it after checking out the new items 😂
At this time🤯
Storybook Nursery is the first Kit I have ever bought on launch day, and I have no regrets.
I actually may get the nursery kit. My rich Sims deserve to have nice things for their babies
When you get home, I would LOVE to see you do a video on all the Easter eggs in the Storybook Nursery kit!
Kayla implying that a kit for purchase makes it base game. obviously it's better than buying a full expansion pack, but still
It’s kind of base game in the sense that if you can have/ want cc, you can have the items, but I do see your point
Thank you for your dedication to us and filming this in your hotel room 🥺🥺💚💚
I love the artistic kit but to be honest I wish some of the items were optional. Imma just wait much later I didn't feel like wasting my money on that and instead I just bought a game for my ps5 instead.
Why would you want less items
what do you mean you wish some of the items were optional? asking genuinely
I would totally use some of the storybook nursery items in an elder house. That rug with the flowers, those curtains? Perfect.
Ain't never been this early before lol
