Bro holy shit, Phil's hitting those high notes so beautifully
No joke bro, Ive always liked a good singer, along with a great band!
It’s not phil
@@cywinslow5984 say what? Dam sure is Phil
@@hevymetal30yeah it is I was wrong
"Over and Out" was taste of what was coming with "Cowboys"....
A lot of people say that Pantera just jumped onto a "new trend" or whatever... Nope, they were just growing and changing as a band.
You could say they created "groove metal" or whatever you want to call it... But what they became was their very own sound. You hear Pantera and you know it.
Great album. Sounds like Pantera mixed with Priest and Overkill.
the best ;)
replace overkill to queensryche
Absolutely incredible
Album is so killer !
I hope somehow Dime and Vinnie were secretly hidden
So- called " killed " 🤔
With all the shit goin on,and deception? I dont doubt it, God I Hope So...
It's the pantera album the world forgot.. like hair metal discovered british heavy metal, with thrashy licks. This was panteras' true masterpiece. Not saying that dimebag didn't do better, just saying the band as a whole murdered the 80s with this album
I'd argue it's a way better album than Priest's Ram it Down of the same year but Cowboys vs Painkiller thats a hard one
I adore this album. Wished they hadn’t excluded this one from their legacy. Definitely deserves the recognition.
It’s a crime this has not been reissued yet.
@@bumface1810 Agreed my friend
Yeah, Phil is already here and some of the songs could have fit in Cowboys from Hell imo, so they've got no excuses for denying this album's existence
You can praise this album, I don't.
Thanks for taking my 45 y rock rookie opinion as granted.
@@fpostolache ?
I can't believe they try to hide this. This style is completely period correct and they nailed it. 🤘
Proud to be Loud was radio worthy.

... PANTERA 🇺🇸 from the USA, simply Metal magic ... 🤘 🇺🇸
Its gay.
@@icepick3528 Maybe a little.....So were most bands at the time.
I like Phil's high voice on this and Cowboys
The Pant Era
I have to respect Pantera for nailing the sound of TWO decades!
First time ever hearing this. Phil is really showing his love for Rob Halford here. Dime's solo sound is still incredible even this early on.
Dimebag was always incredible, even when he was like 16 in the Metal Magic album, his solos were something to behold
dime has 0 bad solos
That’s Dime singing lead in this one..
This was the Phil that dominated the 80s metal scene on the Gulf Coast. Then he discovered Exhorder and radically changed his vocal style. You consider that vulgar display of power is only two albums from this. 🤘😝🤘
The guitar work on "We'll Meet Again", in particular, still gives me goosebumps. What a beautiful song.
Pantera should have held this album up as one of their own. It is absolutely wonderful. Thankfully I still have my copy on vinyl - in MINT condition. It will never be sold. NEVER! 😁
No matter what you think Dimebag got his start on 4 albums before your favourite Cowboys "debut" and he absolutely shredded on guitar. His riffs are sick.
And all 5 albums that followed are better. 😉
@@bumface1810 They are not "musically better", from an objective point of view. But they are more intense and more creative. Have more personality, so to speak. guitar distortion heavy as fuck, bad ass bass, bad ass voice, insane guitar effects in some of the songs, plus, the depressive ballads, etc. This album is "classic heavy metal". It's great music, but except from a few songs, it's more forgettable.
I agree this is a great album, but I just believe the 5 albums that followed are better- more metal, more original.
@@bumface1810 Indeed. I definitely prefer those as well.
@@bumface1810 per me sono peggiori ;) qui siamo al top
I love 80’s style heavy metal, and 90’s era Pantera isn’t really my cup of tea, but I am absolutely mesmerized by this album!
Does anybody else get goosebumps listening to the Solo on we'll meet again, like seriously for me its one of the most emotionally fueld solos ever!
Its great
Are you a 13 year old girl?
What fucking dude types that shit?
Totally! You can feel the EVH influence there as well
Vito Bratta of White Lion did a lot of solos like that.
Both obviously fans of EVH.
This album kicks ass. Isn't the usual Pantera, but I'm glad this exists. Phil Anselmo really got a good start here. Cowboys From Hell, he definitely was at his peak.
I can say this is my first time hearing this. Kickass music a tyme machine in the past
I prefer the sinister, growling, rage fueled Phil from Vulgar Display of Power onwards rather than this Halford-esque version of him. Not saying he didn't do a great job here
@@fanofgodjimindiva2497 Definitely. This is good, but the 90's was his prime.
CFH was the beginning of Pantera, this album should've never happened.
Even for the late 80's this is horrible.

Glam:
We’ll Meet Again
Hard Ride
Down Below
Speed:
Power Metal
Burnnn
Death Trap
Heavy:
Rock The World
Over and Out
Proud to be Loud
PST88 (Heavy/Glam)
I could add Down Below to Speed, 'cause it's fast enough to fit Speed Metal
@@ridesthemetalmonster9058 True, I consider it speed glam if thats a thing haha
I think I’d put rock the world in glam
@@phantom_wolf5274 I could see it being in there, but it sounds like old school heavy metal (like Priest)!
We’ll meet again: GLAM what? Or Hard Ride: GLAM how? Album cover outfits and haircuts all natural without a even little spark or glitter or blond painted scratched up hair😂 they look like a War Tank drivers/operators/Troopers special forces/special ops battallion like really just give em MG’s with grenades. Its pure Heavy Metal all the way musically and theme imaginary. When some slower more harmonized melodic heavy metal song is wrote and lyrics are not about fucking rose tattoos and whiskey tears or what ever it is pure heavy metal. The guitar sound lyrics and vocals are really showing their place where they are and well bass with drums are actually delta blues oriented throughout till the ending is a bit faster😂 its like there aint no fuckin stoner metal or glam metal genre🤦♂️never ever existed, some kind of slick clean flashy leather and jean and cowboy boots blonde hair make up duudes lookes like ladies never ever played glam metal
"Death Trap", with some minor changes, like the voice, could easilly fit their last album, "Reinventing the Steel." It reminds me a lot of "Yesterday don't mean Shit."
right on, that's a good comparison. great track.
band: "we need another advance"
label: "what the hell did you spend the first check on? You haven't even been in the studio yet!"
band: "well, we had to buy hairspray. Lots of it. And red crayons..."
based exhorder pfp
Guess the crayons were for the cover art?
Well meet again!!!! What a killer song.. Love 80s Pantera.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM and have done so since it was first released in 1988. It is SOOOOOO heavy. Diamond Darrell was stunningly talented. RIP buddy. And never turn it down.
My favorite Pantera album. Phil and Rex better play some songs off this when they do this tribute tour with Zakk and Charlie next year. Phil, get them vocal chords of yours in shape buddy. You got some high notes to hit my man.
😅 Never gonna happen. Not to mention he could never sing this stuff again, range wise.
That'd be great but it's not gonna happen, it's a Pantera tribute so they'll only play the most famous songs. Only hardcore fans of the band know this album even exists
@@fanofgodjimindiva2497 or the three before this with terry glaze on vocals.
Phil made them better and eventually mean as fuck
That’s be cool, but it won’t happen. They prob haven’t played this live since early 90s. Found this though. ua-cam.com/video/1y7AsmK9A4w/v-deo.html
No chance ! You are more likely to hear them play Down songs then this !
The 80s are always better than the 90s, even pantera work confirms this
I've definitely been one of the naysayers with the reunion, everything I've seen indicates that Vinnie was adamantly against it, I found it extremely disrespectful, but I'll say if you want to celebrate Dime and Vinnie, release these albums, send half of the proceeds to Dime and Vinnie's families, today is my first time hearing any of this, and I've been diving into all of this, Dimebag's legacy can't be understated, the man lived and breathed every single note he played, his passion was infectious, for Christ's sake, even watching the home video Watch It Go, I wanted to quit my job and lock myself in my room practicing until I got that good, I've been playing the guitar for almost 40 years, and Dime was responsible for the majority of that, and I'm not unique in that, it's just another countless testament of the impact this man had on everyone the music reached.
this side of pantera is awesome for its time in the 1980s. that riff at 4:55 DAMN!!!
I love this album.
Forever a gem of an album. A materpiece if you ask me. Hail old school PanterA.
This, Cowboys from Hell, and The Southern Trendkill are probably my top Pantera albums.
Good:
Death Trap
Hard Ride
Burnnn
Favs:
We’ll Meet Again
Over And Out
The best Pantera album ever!
This is my favorite PANTERA album ,c.f.h is 2nd in line I do
Like metal magic, Projects in the
JUNGLE I like all there stuff!
This album is absolutely killer.
needs a new release as all from 80's albums: top speed metal !!
PROUD TO BE LOUD!!!
Goddamn, Over and Out rips! Really wish this was on Spotify or that I could find an affordable vinyl copy
I liked it better when megadeth did it.
One of my favorite albums by pantera i was hooked when my brother got it in 1988 played the crap out of it
In the ' 90s, I had a tape with just such a sound, thank you.
Before the world knew him as Dime we called him Diamond. 🤘🤘
In Cowboys and Vulgar he is still credited as Diamond. He only became Dimebag in Beyond Driven.
@@HeathenDancetrue. My vdop CD has the band members on it and he's still diamond Darrell on it
@@JaBismarck I salute those who actually own the physical albums, and are not just internet digi-fans.
phil looking like such a badass... like if I saw him or any dude walking around with a permed up hair like that, I would back tf down.
No hyperbole, this is a great album. Well worth the listen. Dime slays.
Over and out is one of the best Pantera songs
I'm a newbie. I ONLY listened to this album 100 times in my life. I'm a beginner. I Suppose that the regular metalhead has listened to this around 500 times. I'm getting there!
You don't get points from how many times you listen to a album!
As long as you dig it who cares?
For years i wanted to listen to the early PANTERA outputs. Now, that we have Covid times, i found the time to do it. This band came to me with the incredible "Cowboys from Hell" which blew me away back in 1990. They entered germany and in Hannover, together with Judas Priest, i saw them on the Painkiller tour. It was ....stunning! What i do hear here is something which is....good! Yeah - it rocks! Really. But i am asking myself how they were able to upgrade this kind of heavy metal to the brain-crushing ultra-heavy stuff they performed only 2 years later and brought it to the top with the masterpiece "Vulgar.....". For me, this is very hard to believe. But they did it someway. Has someone of you have a clue what happened to Pantera between 88 and 90? Greetings from germany.
Godflesh happened
They became friends with Kerry King from Slayer, he probably turned them on to heavier music
Look up Godfather123 on UA-cam. It shows them playing clubs and debut a song called Art of Shred. They were friends with metallica in 84 and others in the business. It was just a natural progression and getting older
So fucking badass
Power Metal, We’ll Meet Again, Down Below, and Burnn are forever 💙
Every song/solo on this album is badass, but We’ll Meet Again’s solo is absolutely incredible. In Dime’s top 5 for me, possibly even my favourite. That phrasing and feel is incredible!
Some of the riffs from the heavier songs also reminds me of Annihilators first album…
This album is sick as fuck
Back when Pantera was AWESOME! 🤘 😆🤘
Back B 4 Phil joined PANTERA I saw him a few times around metry
Wit a band called Razor White !
Lucky bastard
В 1988 я думал что круче Метлы Ганзов и Мегов н кого нет.Пришел к этому только сейчас когда мне уже 50.
🤘Great album🤘the better of them stage glam Metal🤘
que tema well meet again, discazo. uno de los mejores de pantera. el solo se va a la bosta. over and out es brutal.
Over and out tiene una onda megadeth!!!! Personalmente para mi discazo y una lastima que reniegen de esta etapa!!!!!!
can't believe this is Anselmo's voice
I hear a little bit of early Queensryche in this.
This is where they should have stuck with. The tone of Dimebag's, Phil's voice, and composition, the band is on a killing spree! young and wild and heavy! Fuck yeah!
they ought to be proud of this! badass..
Hello!I just discovered this album about two weeks ago. This totally rocks!I love Pantera! ❤
Cool combination of early Queensryche and Judas Priest
Phil was 18 yrs old doing these vocals
9:22 is what you're here for.
Power metal is the meanest guitar riff to play !!
I tell you what I like listening to the old stuff like this. And that change in history with their music. Vulgar display has got to be that joint. It is such a joint in time, and it's got to be everybody's favorite album. Cowboys is awesome, but there's something about vulgar. That just hits the nail on the head. And it was such a different change in time and it kept heavy metal alive. Go ahead and leave your comments. Because everyone has an opinion, and it's just interesting to hear opinions.
he sounds like a mix between bobby blitz, rob halford, and a cat getting strangled and i fucking love it, wish pantera didnt sell out and do cowboys from hell
They didn't sell out, they just changed their sound to something heavier and it worked, they ended up "creating" groove metal
This is when Pantera was good.
Nope pantera has always been good. Power metal is a contender for top 3 best Pantera albums tho
Great album, like Pantera, many greetings from Sicily Mazara del Vallo...Pantera💚❤💚❤👍👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
Diss is a badass classic album by da greatest band ever RIP Dimebag & Vince Legends 4 real !
PANTERA RULES !
great. this album is amazing
Love those high notes 🤘
Diss sounds like early PANTERA !!!
Que solo e riffs matadores o da música "Over and Out", nossa!! Pantera é muita foda!!
Power Metal and Over and Out Darrell shreds. Official release would be awesome. Painkiller before Painkiller. Funny seeing the pictures in the 90s thinking Pantera was once glam. It’s Power Metal. Edit: Down Below : Dime shreds more
Just had to put on kiss to make sure they captured all three bands and boy they did
That riff in Death Trap is fucking sick!!!
We ĺ meet again..Albeit very 80s pop.. l love it...
this albums sounds amazing! why did they try to hide this from their discography?
They should kept this style its sounds way better than their 90s stuff imo
Please do more pantera albums.
This is in my top 5 favorite riff-heavy albums. The riffs on this bring an excitement that Randy Rhoads brought in ‘81.
Literally just found out they had 4 albums before cowboys! 3rd song into this one and can definitely feel the evolution. It's subtle but definitely there. Not sure if I'd give it much thought if I didn't know it was who they became. That's just my honest opinion....
love it , wish the made some merch for the older albums
Like early Queensryche's first album too
Almost seems like a different band from the one that recorded Cowboys From Hell. Phil had an amazing voice back then -- such clarity, vibrato and range! A shame he doesn't use that aspect of his singing voice anymore. The distorted aggro stuff is okay, but he can, or at least could, do so much more than that.
Yeah he paid for it. He really can't anymore. I agree though it's awesome
What range, musically. From full blown 80s power metal to Groove n Thrash. How is this the same band??
Mantap lagu2nya....👍🏼🤘🏼🔥💥
Hm, a lot of people like to diss on Pantera's glam metal years but I actually quite liked this album, it gives me Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Helloween vibes and I'm all for it!
Best album they ever put out.
Wow, this sounds like Priest.
this is some fun shit
King diamond

Anyone knows where can i find these Panthera 80s albums on vynil, CD ??
Always loved the first albums. After cowboys they lost me. I am from south ms. They were popular where I grew up
I love all of their albums. Sucks to be you.

It sounds like iron maiden and Metallica mix. And i love it
