Rony Quiñonez i dunno, but chris said years ago they had a shit recording of this song and how this song was oddly similar to clocks the previous single, so chris just hate to perform it.thats why they dont play it anymore on any concert

I never thought I would find a live version of this. Chris made it clear in a few interviews that this was one of his worse songs. I highly and respectfully disagree myself
they still played this song at most shows during the Twisted Logic tour, some during Viva and Mylo though. Even a few times during AHFOD tour cuz audience requests and what not. It's just the band hasn't officially released material with this song on it. For example, there was a cancelled DVD filmed in Canada that included this song that later was released later for TV airing purposes only in some countries. You can find the cancelled dvd on youtube now i'm pretty sure unless copyright got to it first.
Accept it or not but speed of sound is better than clocks and its one of the best song by Coldplay. I still don't understand why Chris did not like the song or didn't like the way they record whatever that is.

This is the real coldplay......
'Real' what does that even mean? Someone who is a true fan of these guys is a fan of their artistry. For me, these guys just have so much passion for what they do and that's what's important. There is no 'real'. There is just Coldplay and the music they make. Sure, it's different now, but that's the industry, that's progression. If they were still the same you'd say they're unimaginative and stuck in the same thing over and over.

Oddly enough, this is not the 'real' Coldplay, they don't like the X&Y era because they were aiming for what people expected from them, instead of just being themselves and doing completely what they wanted. Current Coldplay is the most free, true Coldplay, where they show they like electronic sounds, pop rhytms while still loving and making other kinds of music with their stunning new and experimental sounds, with amazing empowering lyrics. They have all kinds of styles now, they like them all, and now they feel and are fully free to continue making whatever they love.
Coldplay is Coldplay. Just it matters.
Every album sounds different, there is no such thing as real coldplay, stop being deluded

Chris, I miss the piano hump
I think that, because of the falsetto, this is a very difficult song to perform live, especially in a large venue, though this looks like a fairly small one. The best performance I've seen was their debut, premiere performance on the British TV show, Top of the Pops. It's here on UA-cam. It was so spirited and sweet, with the audience's enthusiastically clapping to each beat. Chris does the heart patting thing at the beginning and end. Here, he looks simply beautiful.

This is my most favorite song of coldplay. I found speed of sound when i was in junior high school. Idk but the first time i listened to this song, it brought a peace in my heart instantly, I couldnt even move my head when it was played on tv because this song caught my attention that much, and speed of sound still on my playlist unitl now. Sadly Chris didnt like this song. Still, i hope i can watch live performance of this song. Thank you for creating this beautiful song. Such a masterpiece.

A lot of people think Chris hates speed of sound, this isn’t true, he said in his interview with Howard stern that he just thought the recording they did of the song (the one that made it on the album) was an awful recording of the song and that they should have done another take
