Thanks for using my Charger Hellcat in your show. My best speed for the weekend was 179.3 on Sun. after lunch. That was do to a nice tail wind. Best time Sun. morning without a tail wind was 176.9. Had a great time this year. By the way. I was using BP 101 Sat & Sun.
Very similar experience with my 2016 Hellcat Challenger at the Texas Mile during March, 2018. Topped out at 175.2. Fastest Challenger was just over 200, but had some significant tweaks to it. Extremely safe and stable car and experience, great fun, great people involved, all with a daily driver!
"it gives you an idea of how aerodynamics work". Interesting quote when driving a Hellcat. I don't think the Charger is particularly aerodynamic, though it looks cool. I sat it one today at the dealership. Nice car!
When asked about the weirdest cars she'd seen do this, I was hoping to hear the story of someone bringing a minivan, or a VW Bus, or a school bus, or a cargo van.
This year I ran a 175.8mph in my Challenger HC (ref, last year was a 173.7mph) Still haven't updated your review with the correct information, awesome.
the Texas car mentioned that's all electric is the zombie 222, a fully modified 68 mustang. the owner's is a pretty cool guy to, i actually rode in it when I was in Austin, cool car.
I had the M5. I now have the 2016 Hellcat Charger. Both brilliant cars, but don't kid yourself. The Hellcat is very fast and that power from highway speeds makes the M5 feel slower. However the M5 always feels more refined and planted. Both great cars and a lot of fun. Either will impress and the Hellcat is a superior package for the money. After 11K miles the Hellcat is also the more reliable car. The M5 was back to the dealer three times in the first 4 months, but that can also be attributed to bad luck. Again, both great cars.
200 hp gets you an additional 13 MPH because of the law of aerodynamics.. to double the speed takes 4 times the power...your pusing one hell of alot of air...
The altitude must really mess you guys up bc I did a 1/2 mile race in my Hellcat Charger in Florida this past January. We did not have idea conditions as it was 36 degrees and had rained the day before so the air strip was a mess, but I got up to 151 at the half mile (other Hellcats got a bit more) and my car was stock back then. I think your guy said 140 something at the half. I would like to try that mile up there sometime in Colorado but that's a hell of a drive from me.
Just curious Roman....how is your 2016 Hellcat holding up after all the use and abuse you've given your car? Any issues or does it still feel just as solid as the day you got it. I'm just wondering because I just got a 2016 Challenger Hellcat M6 and had 1059 miles when I got it from the dealership. I have just over 1200 miles on it now. Only my weekend car. I'm very anal about my cars and usually buy new, but had to get this used because I can't afford new. I know my car was a demo car for most of 2017, used by a dealer owner for 500 miles. The other 500 miles was by first owner, but they only had it for 4 months. My car appears immaculate inside and after I tested everything out, seems to be brand new with no noticeable abuse, but you never know. Just wondering how it holds up if abused some before I got it and any abuse I may do to it in the future. Was a dream car of mine, but still want to have fun with it too. Thank you! Love your videos!
Now I'm calling BS on those Charger numbers. One, I was there all weekend and didn't see those numbers from any "stock" car let alone a HC. Two, stock HC Chargers and Challengers dip into the mid 170s at sea level. I was at The Texas Mile. I'll give credit where credit is due, but let's be honest here boys.
at that elevation whatever hp you lose doesnt really affect your topspeed because the air is so much thinner and less drag, a lot of the time turbo/supercharged cars with smaller engines clock a higher topspeed
Well the 500hp mode...would actually be less than 500hp at that altitude. When he ran the first run in 500hp mode, it had a trap speed of 107.7mph on the speed ticket. The old 425hp 6.1L SRT8 challenger ran 108mph 1/4mile trap speeds..so it would have similar 60mph times..which was 4.6 seconds. So with the skinny street tires 500 vs. 707hp is the difference between 4.6 and 3.7 0-60mph times.
should have used a charger hellcat, the one that is designed o be more aerodynamic. also the difference in speed from the 500 to 700hp version would most likely be noticed on top end. example the srt8 can do about 185, but the hellcat charger does 204mph verified, so i would say you get your 200hp moneys worth with the hellcat.
Considering the high elevation I find it interesting that this 2016 Hellcat with 707 hp ran 167 mph, however, they run 11 mph faster (178mph ) at the Texas mile. Compared to the black 2010 Shelby with 550 hp that ran 193.1 mph here, which is only 3 mph slower then the stock 2010 Shelby's that typically run 196.3 mph at the Texas mile. I'm guessing its the difference in aero drag between the two cars.
You are completely misinformed. No stock Shelby with only 550 hp would ever see 193 mph in mile on earth. Only modified 2013 and 14s ever hit 193 mph in a mile. Read details so you wont spread false information.
Dodge really needs to make a better more efficient transmission because that's pretty weak for 707HP and the fact the driver notices the car becomes shifts hard at high speeds speaks for itself. Maybe a better differential would help too so it can get off the line quicker.
I've heard that only the 5.7L will be offered in AWD. They are supposedly making a wide body from the factory Hellcat that will remain RWD, but that would be pretty sick if they made an AWD version
"They want us to keep it under 165mph this first run until we can learn the track and the layout." ... Uh, isn't it a straight line? If you need to "learn" how to drive in a straight line please exit the vehicle and return your driver's license to the DMV immediately. ;-)
The driver keeps saying 500hp mode got 155mph then does 176 in 707hp mode and says the 207hp only made it 12 mph faster. hmmm seems more like 21 mph to me.
Kristopher Klassen Hmm do you think a Honda engine would fit in my Dodge? I've tried a 318 & its too big for the '35 Dodge since Dodge engines didn't last past 10 years never mind '81 years like a Chevy could!
Kristopher Klassen Hahaha I do respect it, I restored it from a farm which had a tree growing thru its engine bay and totally did everything from the ground up plus added a electric jumper seat and doors.
Why would any man pass on doing this drive himself??? This is a dream for most men to drive a car flat out no speed limit!! Ive done 150 in the rt with ease so to hear 170s for a hellcat at normal sea level is disappointing!
A "sports car" should be balanced, Designed around handling and speed of all types. 0-60. figure-8. Fast tract times on all kinds. Top speed. Attractive to the eye, aggressive but refined, radiating a sense of elite agility and strength. Unfortunately America has watered down the idea of a sports car to trick people into buying garbage so they can make billions without really trying. If anyone argues I'll point you to Godzilla.
The American Mustang GT350 handles great, looks good and is fast. R version is better still. A Hellcat is NOT a sports car. It's a muscle car that just happens to be refined enough to dip into the sports car arena, but it's still just a brutish cruiser with crazy power. And I say this owning a 2016 Hellcat Charger. It's a lot of fun, but not a sports car in any complete sense. Like I said, it's big fun and seriously inexpensive for what you get. For 75K I have a family car that can be a comfortable daily driver...then run the open roads with most any sports car and even back roads are fun. What's not to like? And at the moment America also builds the Tesla, considered to be the best car for any price.
You meant less drag. The chargers drag coefficient is less than the challengers meaning air has less effect on speed the faster it goes. One of the downsides of the boxy shape but it looks the best.
Doesn't the Camaro weigh less? Iv heard it's a much better platform for a sports car than the charger or challenger. Either way they are both American:/ I wish we made real sports cars.
Cadillac CTS V is probably our best sport car that we produce. Sure it doesn't the highest horsepower of all the cars but it's easily balanced back out by the amazing handling.
I guess I never really thought of Cadillacs as being a sports car but they really are making some track-fast cars. I still don't like the way they look but oh well. Can't win them all..
What defines a sports car? Is it a car that makes curves? A lot of small daily drives cars do nice curves, so it can't be only that, it also needs to be sleek, fast, with a lot of hps and a nice noise, the hellcat does all of those, but it doesn't makes curves as well, does it mean it's not sporty? Of course not, the Challenger was made over for muscle car purists, not for track days but to burn asphalt, be loud and give you a nice ride on a highway while listening to your preferred band!
101 octane actually hurts you at elevation...all the extra octane just goes right out the tail pipe...thats why they sell lower octane out here...91 is about the most you can do
Derrick first time i saw that i was 19 driving across country from east coast and couldnt believe it and thought it was because people were really cheap in colorado...so i bought some and my truck ran like crap
ColoradoHeliNut...in a hellcat? that could help you hook up if you have less hp...also depends on the build...if you are running 12 to 1 cr then 91 wont be enough to prevent pinging...what i do is try a 50 50 blend and see if it pings at all...you want to be just above the ping level...higher octane means slower burn so if you had 150 octane it would still be burning as it left the tailpipe and a 75 octane would be so harsh and violent it would produce less push and more breakage so you want that explosion to occur during the entire power stroke...any longer just goes out the tail pipe...ps, would love to see a video of your ride
Yes stock Hellcat Charger! As soon as I put some BP 101 in it late Fri. afternoon that they had there at the event I picked up 2 to 3 mph. For Sat. & Sun. it was roughly 3 to 2 BP fuel.
im tired of people keep using the challenger in most speed vids like.....the charger is more aerodynamic and slightly lighter STOP USING THE CHALLENGER!!
Kristopher Klassen I would insert the certificate of speed from The Mile, but I can't figure out, or if it is even possible, to insert a picture. Trust me Mr. Klassen. If I was going to lie, I would say like 172mph, rather than 170.2.
Its videos like these that make certain cars look bad, 155-170 in a HellCat? Thats literally slower then a 1996 Viper GTS, Both driver and options need to get out, Like i appreciate the video being put up, But why put them up when you get a crap result? Hell MT got 176mph in there HellCat, The fastest ive seen for a completely stock Challenger HC is 183.794Mph in the auto, So, How can there be THAT much difference?.............
Dre Ray driver, tire options (they come with 2 options) tire pressures and mileage. i own one, and although the exact mileage is not known yet, but the car fully awakens around 3000-3600miles via some timed tuning change. i've felt the change and it's definitely noticeable.
+ColoradoHeliNut nice and thanks for filling in the story!
that speed was not at the same track obvisouly!! cant you see the hellcats were not getting more than 170!
They Run at the Front Range Airport. Labor Day Weekend. However If they come back up in 2017 they most likely will change the date.
Jason Moyal, You aren't real bright are ya? www.usmileracing.com/full-results/?event=21&cni=4638
ColoradoHeliNut do you need to tune for the fuel or does the stock map make use of it?
Very similar experience with my 2016 Hellcat Challenger at the Texas Mile during March, 2018. Topped out at 175.2. Fastest Challenger was just over 200, but had some significant tweaks to it. Extremely safe and stable car and experience, great fun, great people involved, all with a daily driver!
Hellcat Charger has less drag due to better aerodynamics therefore achieves higher top speed.
"it gives you an idea of how aerodynamics work". Interesting quote when driving a Hellcat. I don't think the Charger is particularly aerodynamic, though it looks cool. I sat it one today at the dealership. Nice car!
what was the top speed on the hot rod at the end?
158.1. www.usmileracing.com/full

Interesting to see the Charger HC run a higher speed. Fun video!
Must be aerodynamically superior to the Challenger.
The Charger does have better aero.
AdussFadass
charger cd:. 35
challenger cd:. 39
charger is 12% more efficient.
Michael Davis Exactly.
Aww man! I wanted to know how the hot rod did! that was sick
The Fast lane's videos always carry on way longer than they need to.
Compare the quality of these videos to that of their earlier stuff. Keep up the good work
That thing has the aerodynamics of a brick. No wonder it takes 700hp to make it go 167mph
I have a 2015 392... put a KN air filter... I absolutely ❤️...... my Challenger
Considering the altitude, the 4000+ lbs it's carrying, it's lack of aero and ride height, it's not that bad. My M7 Z06/Z07 went 180 @ sea level.
I love seeing old men who still have balls to go real fast.
Great video guys. Thanks!
whine, whine, whine, gotta love it.
The Challenger is about as aerodynamic as a brick so no wonder it couldn't go faster...
The non aerodynamic brick still goes 200MPH+
the charger has a low drag coefficient
+ Sylas6540
199 mph according to Dodge. That's not very impressive when a delimited 500 hp BMW E60 M5 can do the same.
Just remember, The Challenger weighs 4500 lbs with a driver. My Charger is 4750 lbs with me in it.
I had the M5. I now have the 2016 Hellcat Charger. Both brilliant cars, but don't kid yourself. The Hellcat is very fast and that power from highway speeds makes the M5 feel slower. After 11K miles the Hellcat is also the more reliable car. The M5 was back to the dealer three times in the first 4 months, but that can also be attributed to bad luck. Again, both great cars.
this is the coolest video i've seen for quite awhile...where can i get more info on the colorado mile? thanks for posting
6:45 She's borrowed one of Roman's toupées‼️😂😂😂
200 hp gets you an additional 13 MPH because of the law of aerodynamics.. to double the speed takes 4 times the power...your pusing one hell of alot of air...

Love it, love it, love it!!!
Thrilled to know Dodge is now partly owned by Dongfeng of China 🇨🇳
Man I wish I could take my '12 Civic EX coupe out there! I bet I could do like 83mph!
magnaxilorius yeah I wish I could take my 2000 grand am GT out there and go maybe 100 lol
George Rickett lol Right?
ok and what were the corvettes doing in terms of mph as i think the vett is alot more aerodynamic???
Dodge really needs to make a better more efficient transmission because that's pretty weak for 707HP and the fact the driver notices the car becomes shifts hard at high speeds speaks for itself. Maybe a better differential would help too so it can get off the line quicker.
I think starting in 1rst would make a difference. I have one just have to be gentle with the fun peddle.
what kinda speed was that H2 running? was in an R with 300hp?
I love mine.. but i hear they might be making an all wheel drive one?? 😩
I've heard that only the 5.7L will be offered in AWD. They are supposedly making a wide body from the factory Hellcat that will remain RWD, but that would be pretty sick if they made an AWD version
813Productions well i hope their not to badass..im going broke buying these things lol
BayAreaMenace Lol man the more badass the better. It's a great time for the auto industry right now, especially the domestic market
If you count the Jeep version then yes they are.
Seraphim Valkyrin This is true, I completely forgot about the Jeep GC TrackHawk. That thing is going to be an absolute monster
I’d like to see what the hellcat redeye would do!
OMG,
4:09 She is Wife @RP Productions ???
Look for the video TITLE: Girlfriend Drives My 500HP Dodge Charger Scat Pack

8:05 Holy shit! Is that Michelle Duggar?
the highboy was cooler than these new cars
"They want us to keep it under 165mph this first run until we can learn the track and the layout." ... Uh, isn't it a straight line? If you need to "learn" how to drive in a straight line please exit the vehicle and return your driver's license to the DMV immediately. ;-)
Where is this drag track i need to go there with my dad so we can use his hellcat there. Plz let me know where it is
Hate how they do these 1 mile above sea level tests.. doesn't mean much to us who aren't a mile high.
Nice license plate!
The driver keeps saying 500hp mode got 155mph then does 176 in 707hp mode and says the 207hp only made it 12 mph faster. hmmm seems more like 21 mph to me.
Hmm I should send down my 35 Dodge for comparison with the Hellcat! 350 Chevy 6 pack, 442 hp
You should try a real engine in that dodge instead of that boat anchor
Kristopher Klassen Hmm do you think a Honda engine would fit in my Dodge? I've tried a 318 & its too big for the '35 Dodge since Dodge engines didn't last past 10 years never mind '81 years like a Chevy could!
Then sell your dodge to someone who'll respect it and go and buy some Generic Motor Crap
Kristopher Klassen Hahaha I do respect it, I restored it from a farm which had a tree growing thru its engine bay and totally did everything from the ground up plus added a electric jumper seat and doors.
Kristopher Klassen hahahahahaha, idiots
Why would any man pass on doing this drive himself??? This is a dream for most men to drive a car flat out no speed limit!! Ive done 150 in the rt with ease so to hear 170s for a hellcat at normal sea level is disappointing!
Do a Florida Mile! In Orlando, or Miami
I've hit 193 mph on a freeway late at night in my charger Hellcat
A "sports car" should be balanced, Designed around handling and speed of all types. 0-60. figure-8. Fast tract times on all kinds. Top speed.
Attractive to the eye, aggressive but refined, radiating a sense of elite agility and strength.

The American Mustang GT350 handles great, looks good and is fast. R version is better still. A Hellcat is NOT a sports car. And at the moment America also builds the Tesla, considered to be the best car for any price.
I’ve never seen a hellcat accelerate so slow
Don't know why but think the old models look leaner and meaner, modern car up dates seem to look bulkier.
This has already been done. The official speed was 173.8 miles per hour
Demon. Bam bam.
at 2:13 is that the guy from Pass Time ? lol
Another car that goes this fast is an old school Lincoln ls 03-05 model
Shannon has my last name!! And that’s no common last name?!
how many hp does the nissan titan petrol engin get
390 horsepower, 394 lb feet of touqe
chatty guys, aren't they. Thank goodness for fast forward
my magnum srt8 is more aerodynamic than both of the models at .34cod
Charger has more aero makes sense why it went 170..
You meant less drag. The chargers drag coefficient is less than the challengers meaning air has less effect on speed the faster it goes. One of the downsides of the boxy shape but it looks the best.
DevPack a This HellCat ended up going 178mph that same day
Ford GT has the top speed still. Badass!
A 4500 pound car moving around under full load lol
What's the deal with the push start on that hot rod?
If I remember right it was just how it was setup. No starter.
So did it go 190 mph?
158.1. www.usmileracing.com/full
I wish there's 300hp mode also
how about the charger?
My best speed for the weekend was 179.3 with a good tailwind right after lunch Sun. Best without a tailwind that morning was 176.9
so what did the Corvettes do
Guess that would depend on what model corvette. Would have to think the aero and weight would be a huge advantage.
charger > challenger anyday
Blaze Flame
Less chatter, more driving. Not really interested in what the owners/drivers have to say. Unless they're Jackie Stewart or A.J. Foyt.
114 through the quarter? wtf? way low..what happened?
take this car to the gym trust me it will go even faster
proof fuel ain't shit
i wanna know what that h2r ran
nnniiccee
P1???
💪
my 98 Lexus gs 300 could do about 120 in a mile
Driver of TFL car was know-it-all snobby when other guy was talking to him about the settings.
The Billet Silver M6 Hellcat did 173.7mph
Ask me how I know....
How do you know
Well I was there and watched it happen first hand.
beast
whats a feet in metres?
3.3 feet per meter
cheers
3280 metres
1 mile (5280 ft) is 1,609 meters
Oops..my bad, i was thinking feet in a km. :/ JerseyMikep is right
i wonder if running it on E85 fuel would have made any difference
It would make zero difference without a a custom fuel map and possibly a smaller supercharger pulley.
so much damn talking
challenger much better then challenger demon.
2003 to 2016 is 13 years not 14
Aren't these cars 65,000 dollars?
About $62,000 and with options up to $75,000 roughly.
wow for that kind of money you could build something way faster than this car and way cooler.
Yawn, 4 years ago , 2012, bone stock 2013 GT500 did 174 at the texas mile...........I love the hype over these cars.
Which is it fool? Over 190 in your other post or 174 in this one?
TFL is a ford fan boy show hey hate dodge because it kicks ford ass.
Doesn't the Camaro weigh less? Iv heard it's a much better platform for a sports car than the charger or challenger. Either way they are both American:/ I wish we made real sports cars.

The couple of Cadillac CTS coupes out there this year were doing around 180 give or take. Nice cars
Actually I see they were a CTS-V 2dr that did 185.8 & the other CTS- V 4dr 184.9
Chub cat.
Waaay too much telling and not nearly enough showing.
too much old man running his mouth not enough hot car
101 octane actually hurts you at elevation...all the extra octane just goes right out the tail pipe...thats why they sell lower octane out here...91 is about the most you can do
You're right. Up there regular grade is 85, while in lower elevation it's 87.
Derrick first time i saw that i was 19 driving across country from east coast and couldnt believe it and thought it was because people were really cheap in colorado...so i bought some and my truck ran like crap
I had my best times on Sat. & Sun. Using BP 101 this weekend. Without a tune for it I know your mostly correct. However I do think it helps.
For Sat. & Sun. it was roughly 3 to 2 BP fuel.
im tired of people keep using the challenger in most speed vids like.....the charger is more aerodynamic and slightly lighter STOP USING THE CHALLENGER!!
yawn.......go let at the 2013 GT500s at the Texas mile running 190+
Wrong! Stupid!
Cute. I got 170.2 in the Z06 that I traded my hellcat in on. Hellcats Suck! So much for all that talk that Hellcats are faster than the C7 Z06.
You'd prob get a kick if you look at my page with a C6 Z06 vs a hellcat. 💪🏼
Sure you did
David Fischer I'll check that out! Thanks.
Kristopher Klassen I would insert the certificate of speed from The Mile, but I can't figure out, or if it is even possible, to insert a picture. Trust me Mr. Klassen. If I was going to lie, I would say like 172mph, rather than 170.2.
My fastest for the weekend in My Charger was 179.3 with a nice tailwind. Best without was 176.9. Both on Sun.
Much improved from last year. 172.2
Wind!
God what an ugly car
