I would not like to see such a flood form, I think having hunters as uninfectable would make them a more interesting and important member of the fight against the flood cannonically
Digiorno Digiovanna There can only be so many Lekgolo at once. They can't protect the other species enough to fight off a reasonable flood infection. Not to mention they can still be killed through conventional means and used as biomass.
So in regard to why the Lekgolo were on the Alpha shard, I've had some thoughts on that. The Lekgolo were used in some manner as an attempt to stop the Flood. At some point the Forerunners would have had to test this. We know Halos were used for Flood research and to store species. So, what if the experiments where Forerunners tried to battle the Flood with Lekgolo were carried out on Installation 04? I still couldn't tell you why the Forerunners left the Lekgolo there, but it explains why they were there in the first place.
I don't think they had the time to test on them because they were probably too busy designing weapons to combat the flood or they were just extinct at the time. Also its really cool to see you here Halo Cannon.. i mean i love your videos but i never thought you'd take interest in other peoples XD
The Forerunners certainly did run tests. They were constantly looking for other ways to combat the Flood, anything that didn't involve the Halos being fired. As has been said, "1000 other plans were tried and failed" And yeah, I regularly watch other Halo channels, even if I don't always comment. Always like hearing what other people think :)
I thought the worms in Nightfall where remnants of the covenant that survived on the halo ring after it's destruction by the pillar of autumn. Being on that ring shard with no food and with such harsh conditions must have made them become less domesticated, more feral, and likely would result to caniblisum for any worms that died of starvation or was too weak to serve the colony, which would explain why they would still be around over the years.
Virtually any creature can be infected to become a combat form, but the most frequently-used hosts are Sangheili, humans and Jiralhanae. Unggoy and Kig-Yar can be used as combat forms, but this is uncommon due to their weaker body structure. A small number of species are known to be immune to conversion, including the Mgalekgolo/Lekgolo (which are composed of boneless worms that do not have a central nervous system), the Yanme'e, whose exoskeleton lacks the required amount of calcium which renders infection impossible, and the Huragok which is an artificial organism, and therefore believed to be immune.
You've become one of my favorite Halo YTs, besides Luke TheNotable. You guys are amazing and so involved with the lore and the Halo universe. In addition, you guys are insanely knowledgeable. Thank you for keeping the community alive and not toxic.
Drones are actually better. They cant be infected (cant remember why) and can fly out of reach of most flood attacks. Plus in canon drones were actually physically equal to elites in strength due to their high gravity homeworld
Is it the exoskeleton? Because that wouldn't stop the spores. Also, in one of the books, (primordium?) a forerunner witnesses a test-firing of a halo ring, and it reduces a biologically rich world to being home to nothing more complex than moss and bacteria, neither of which have nervous systems. I would be inclined to believe that everything more complex than that is capable of at least being infected by flood spores.
I disagree. Flood require a central nervous system to infect. Aka a brain and spine. Lekegolo lack both. Yes biomass is still an option. But that's not really infecting at that point.
Nah, lack of a spinal column does not = lack of a nervous system. Your spinal column is just a bone grouping with a central nerve running through it. And I also don't see how the LekGolo don't have brains. Nervous systems are kinda moot if there is no brain. Futhermore, even if a single flood spore were to enter something, it would still be considered infected, expecially if that things ends up fully converted into flood biomass. Remember that even though SGT Johnson was able to resist a flood infection form on Alpha Halo, he was still infected. After returning to Alpha base and getting checked, it was observed that some of his dna had been shuffled, a sign that he had in fact been exposed and went through only the beginning stages of being converted into either a combat form or biomass.
I like how you use the music that was used on Halo 2 when the chief had to just jump into a 3 way battle between the brutes and elites and a pair of hunters. Greatest moment in gaming history
I don't think the Lekgolo worms breathe, considering the fact that there are/were many worms living in AN ASTEROID in the Halo 2 Anniversary terminals. Asteroids CANNOT have an atmospere of their own due to ther weak gravity and the worms can live with no problem where Humans can't breathe (the nuked remainder of Installation 04A, for example).
Did anyone else always think that the flood pure forms were infected hunters that were shape-shifting into forms while being controlled by the flood, before discovering this channel of course.
No need to be rude, And i mean... i had the thought process of "The flood forms are all infected members of covenant and humanity, and those new flood *while looking at a tank form* look like a hunter more than anything."
They’d probably be used primarily as biomass to bolster other forms or as organic structural support. Perhaps that’s where most of the biomass on high charity came from
Honestly, having a flood monstrosity made of a thousand worms as a sort of boss fight, rather than it being a normal enemy, sounds like it would be a really cool concept.
TmanTheTdog it is actually the flood is not just some zombie virus there's a reason why the four runners failed to kill them the flood out smarted the the smartest ai in the whole halo universe
Der Thinker An infection form would have to be riding each individual worm (to control the nervous system of the worm). This would make a Flood “Hunter” ridiculously easy to kill.
I personally always assumed they breathed through their skin. I also think if they are able to be infected, they'd act as some sort of infection form, slithering in groups up to a host, subduing them until one can force its way inside and infect the target. The rest possibly forming some sort of organic armour.
Three words...GIANT INFECTED WORM! I mean...if, for some random ass reason, they decided to add biomass to an already infected Lekgolo( I hope I spelled that correctly) we could be dealing with a Giant Flood Worm...which could be used to breach defenses via tunneling underground. Like you said in the Spartan video, the flood has all of the knowledge and brain-power that the host has when it gets infected. This might mean that if all of the worms of a hunter were infected, they would still know how to work together to be a hunter, they would just be controlled by the flood.
I hope they don't ever make it so that the Lekgolo can get infected. I honestly really like how Hunters are like the ONE being in Halo that can't get infected, aside from Prometheans and other Forerunner tech of course.

Somewhat late on this. But if there was any possibility of the flood infecting and taking control of lekgolo worms, and still be able to maintain a combat viable form, then theoretically they could infect a scarab. Seeing as how those are essentially just much larger lekgolo colonies, just with a lot more technology involved.
An idea. Remember the swarm clouds from Halo Wars? Have that be our reintroduction to the flood in Halo Infinite. It covers a Hunter as the bond brother on the other end of the room watches, and suddenly a blast from the cannon shoots out of the cloud and slashes at the weak points as a decayed, flood hunter writhes out of the cloud as it dissipated, and finishes off the dying bond brother, sees chief, and let's out that familiar screeching.
Man that opening song brings me back to when I played halo 2 competitively (I practiced a lot with ogre 2/ the ogre twins if anyone remembers them) I miss the days of the BxR, Double shot, and the super jumps those were some good nostalgic times
SolutiionxD ⚠️ Extremely long comment below: I think Halo Legends was written by different people. Different people, different story. We never saw the Flood invade Harvest during the Covenant scourge and the UNSC never fought with the Covenant in the normal Halo. Also, High Charity being infected, in Halo Legends, was started with crashing phantoms, contrary to the Halo 2 scene where UNSC Pelicans drop flood forms out of them. Halo Legends is supposed to be a representation of the past events where Master Chief fought. You can say these are the memories of Cortana which are becoming unstable due to the logic plague seeded in her. We don’t see the Huragok being infected by the Flood because usually, they implode, reducing the fact of being infected in the first place, and the Prophet Of Regret being killed by Arbiter (Thel’ Vadamee) in High Charity which never happened (Regret was killed and infected in Installation 05-Delta Halo not High Charity. If you still don’t get this, then here’s another thing. You know the Prophet Of Mercy, we never saw him infected whilst the Arbiter was there. Only Chief (S-117) did, which he killed the Infection Form latching on to Mercy proving that the scene is, possibly, non-canonical. Hunters don’t appear to be vulnerable to Infection through traditional means. That scene could have been a Pure Form or a Combat Form, excluding Hunters. Just my opinion though...
I know that they infect thru the nervous system. That's not what I was trying to ask. What I was trying to ask was is there a biological reason why they haven't or is it most likely that they never designed the concept of these species being infected. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the closest thing we got to that was a carrier form with a jackal shield on it.
Sean Welch Well most jackals and grunts are made into carrier forms(The slow ones that explode) because of their weak bodies as combat forms are usually Elites, humans and brutes as their strong physiology better for combat.
5 bucks is watching this and wondering, aren't those big dudes infected hunters? *well no, you're talking about the flood tank, which is comprised of biomass(pure form) but if enough worms were used like Xperia said, the biomass could probably be used to create it*
The hunters are not a hive mind. They are a collective mind. A bunch of worms, fueled by instinct, gather to create something smarter. The Flood are a bunch of organisms under an overarching authority- a Gravemind, that controls the Flood. It's debatable whether the Thanolekgolo from Nightfall are even completely sentient in the first place, as they seem to only munch on electronics. But then again, they did form into a human, so maybe they are.
Love how Blow Me Away Instrumental is playing in the bathroom. Sad how some people don't understand the reference because they don't have the original Halo 2 for the Xbox.
Mad Amd those were pure forms made completely from flood biomass. Those crawly ones, the one that shot you and the big form were actually all the same type of flood, it can change between them in the game.
I can imagine a Lekgolo infection being a sort of hit-and-run idea; nab at least one worm, get it the hell out of there and let the Graveminds use its biomass and knowledge - from there, the Gravemind could probably learn how to make Flood Hunters use a new type of pure form
I have wondered this for a long time as well and I feel the literally only use the Flood could possibly have for Lekgolo of any breed is as raw biomass/food for building a compound mind or hive structures. Inb4 the Thanolekgolo were actually locked away because they ate *everything,* Flood, Forerunner, and circuitry alike.
I’d like to think of two scenarios involving infection forms and lekgolo. 1. An infection form only infects one worm which the gets ejected from the body and then killed 2. The infection form crawls into the neck without infecting any worms, which then proceed to kill the infection form
There’s one catch.... the helmet or cap on the hunters serves as a spot where the hive mind is placed. In halo 2 they placed openings on the sides of this helmet to mimic eyes. In lore, their spikes are sensors to movement. Antennas more or less, while also serving as a signal to the other one. Theoretically, one spore could simply attach itself to the helmet and hack into all, all of that activity. The flood could simply hack into their entire communication. If that were to fail, they could choose to infect the very food lekgolo eat. When you hack into something, you’re not just linking into one “mind” think of all the servers hooked to other servers hooked to networks hooked to other networks and all compromised because one computer somewhere has been compromised. Their armor is not just a metal suit, it is technology. The technology aids the worms. Gravemind is very smart. Figure away to hack the tech and the hunters are compromised. Remember, anything and everything they’ve ever infected all knowledge goes to gravemind. All gravemind knowledge goes to the forms. Prophets know of quite a bit. Prophets have been infected. Just a long random thought, although I’d have to say hunters are my favorite alien creatures in any game or movie. I was 8 when I saw one on halo CE for the first time. Amazing. Particularly how one would morn and wander around when you’d killed the other. Neat stuff.
For gameplay purposes A pure form tank could take the Hunter armor and gun. And if the flood could get a hold of one and the worms tagt controlled it to gain the knowledge, there could be a flood controlled scarab by shoving biomass and a few moving pieces into the scarab frame
Hunter worms do not breath. The covenant encountered them on a forunner installation with no atmosphere

Alex Reid you can have a fuck ton of lekgolo, by developing cloning technologies. But yeah I guess.
Digiorno Digiovanna mean, how do they breed? It could be possible that cloning wouldn’t be any faster...
TheNaturalnuke I mean they might breed like any other worm, but getting a working colony might take a while so I guess you have a point.

Short answer...yes, but it could take to long. And alot of effort
Shadow King what about the engineers from odst
no, there artificial, kind of like androids. they are also immune to the halo array.
AMAZING intro, such a nostalgic song.
Wouldn't the infection form be too big for a lekgolo worm?
*sienfield theme plays*
Man that opening song brings me back to when I played halo 2 competitively (I practiced a lot with ogre 2/ the ogre twins if anyone remembers them) I miss the days of the BxR, Double shot, and the super jumps those were some good nostalgic times
What about the fighting scene in halo legend when human and covenant fought together against the flood? There you can see en infected hunter.
Wait for real? Which specific one was that?
SolutiionxD
⚠️ Extremely long comment below:
I think Halo Legends was written by different people.
Sorry I didn't watch the video on Friday, I was busy. Great video by the way 😀
The Lekgolo are Immune to Flood infection
You forgot to mention the radioactive fuel rods they're always lugging around also prevent them from being infected.
I smoked pot but I didn’t inhale
seems like that went over some kid's head, ha.
I always thought that those shapeshifting flood from halo 3 were infected hunters...
Now I know...
What about the other species like the grunts, jackals, and drones? Is it possible for them to be infected?
Sean Welch your a dumb dumb
Yes, because they have a central nervous system. Why there's no infected counterparts in Halo CE, 2 and 3 however is beyond me.
Makes since. It would be interesting to see concept of what they would look like if they had combat forms of themselves.
Dude you’re fucking insane!!, your content and theories are so entertaining.
5 bucks is watching this and wondering, aren't those big dudes infected hunters?
*well no, you're talking about the flood tank, which is comprised of biomass(pure form) but if enough worms were used like Xperia said, the biomass could probably be used to create it*
Grave mind: so how many living organisms do you want to be infected?
The flood: yes
Would I be correct in saying the Hunters and Flood are extremely similar?
Koty Wilkinson no
Don’t roam Kapkan! But are sort of like a hivemind they also form different versions of themselves? Like the flood
God our Halo news is dry dry dry, I feel like a crackhead searching everyday for H6 news
Thank you for playing that song
Haven't watched it yet but I'm sure it's a no since the hunters don't have a centralized nervous system
I always used to think the Flood Tank forms were infected Hunters when I was young.
Wait so what were those HUGE flood forms with the big arms in Halo 3? I thought those were the hunter flood form?
Mad Amd those were pure forms made completely from flood biomass. Those crawly ones, the one that shot you and the big form were actually all the same type of flood, it can change between them in the game.
that would be a pure form, specifically the tank variant of it
Lekgolo worms don't breathe, they lived in space on the rings of Te
Flood cannot infect lekgo because they do have bone
SHAIBAL CHOWDHURY Fam why would that matter
SHAIBAL CHOWDHURY do not*
Tony Flamingo check information of flood in halopedia .It is written that lekgo cannot be infected by flood
They do have a spine! Also halopedia is wrong
Clarification. You need a central nervous system to be infected (Not a spine necessarily). Hence why things like lekgolo or plants can't be infected
Great video!
God I haven't played this in like 2 years and I are and I remember it all like I was playing yesterday
I can imagine a Lekgolo infection being a sort of hit-and-run idea; nab at least one worm, get it the hell out of there and let the Graveminds use its biomass and knowledge - from there, the Gravemind could probably learn how to make Flood Hunters use a new type of pure form
I love the song for you opening
That music is so nostalgic
I have wondered this for a long time as well and I feel the literally only use the Flood could possibly have for Lekgolo of any breed is as raw biomass/food for building a compound mind or hive structures. Inb4 the Thanolekgolo were actually locked away because they ate *everything,* Flood, Forerunner, and circuitry alike.
An infected hunter “melting” due to flood infection could be a horrific way to say the flood is back
I’d like to think of two scenarios involving infection forms and lekgolo.
1. An infection form only infects one worm which the gets ejected from the body and then killed
2. The infection form crawls into the neck without infecting any worms, which then proceed to kill the infection form
At first, I thought the Flood Tank Forms were infected Hunters, but then I realized they’re just colonies of worms.
I always figured that the Lekgolo as biomass theory was probably the safest assumption for starters.
They just eject the imposter worm
Neat stuff.
I always admired the Hunters for how fucking ballsy they were to charge after the Flood while I pussied out into a corner.
For gameplay purposes A pure form tank could take the Hunter armor and gun. And if the flood could get a hold of one and the worms tagt controlled it to gain the knowledge, there could be a flood controlled scarab by shoving biomass and a few moving pieces into the scarab frame
So is it a new addition that blow me away is played at the beginning of each video?
Maybe the Lekgolo absorb oxygen through their skin like some worms here on earth do, therefore making them invulnerable to flood spore infection
The Hunters were always my favorite enemies in Halo.
