FDNY Drone Demo by Fire Chief at Fort Totten - QUEENS

May 5 2023 QUEENS, New York - Fire Commissioner Laura Kavanagh, Chief of EMS Special Operations Ian Swords, and the FDNY Drone team held a demonstration on Friday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the EMS Academy at Fort Totten. Kavanaugh used and operated the drone as part of demonstration, drone had an attached speaker announcing "This is fire department, help is on the way".
The demonstration is part of the pre-conference activities of the FDNY Search & Rescue Field Medicine Symposium (SRFM) and will showcase how drones can be used by EMTs to assess patients and deliver critical equipment to responders during an emergency scenario.
