I really wish they quit and chose normal... The whole point of watching these types of streams is the tension and the funny failures when they fall. Who cares if they fall if there's a checkpoint close by? The tension and humor of it completely goes out the window.
Yeah, I know they would have played it for much less time, but would have been funnier. Not every video needs to be long anyway.

Grenade clip is on my social media account formerly known as Twitter. I tried posting a link, but dunno if that got filtered. Took the vod/clip off Twitch because of some private info precautions but also Twitch flexes their ToS in strange ways.
The best part of the clip is the chatter who posts "It's a pipe bomb (Yay!)" just before you realise it's a grenade.

It honestly makes sense to put checkpoints for this kind of game when it's co-op, but also nice to know you can turn it off if you want more rage bait.
I've realized these sorts of games remind me a bit of the lion's share of user made LittleBigPlanet levels; just a bunch of assets thrown together in the shape of a level with varying levels of coherency.

At first I was a little disappointed that they played with checkpoint but the more I saw of the game the more I was glad they did. This games asset store design is not that interesting to look at and it was more fun to see them beat the new challenges than hang around in the first level occasionally screaming.
I kind of wish that the physics simulation was more realistic. The way it is, only one person needs to make the jump and then the other three can climb up. In reality, if there's three people hanging in the air and one person on a platform, then there will soon be four people in the air. A better physics simulation would make a great extra-hard mode.

I do like how this game tries to go for more variety than some of the other games of this type. And the way that you can/have to work together seems like it works pretty well for the most part. And personally, I am totally fine with there being a "go back to checkpoint" button. If you don't like it, then you can choose to not use it, or you can go ahead and click it if you do want to use it (giving options so you can choose what you prefer is always good in my book).

The granade story made me want to look up if owning a granade is legal in the US, and I found this comment on quora by the user Mark Hrutkay:
"A grenade is a destructive device. Requires paperwork and a $200 tax per grenade.
In 20 years collecting NFA weapons, I’ve never saw one for sale. I’ve owned other DDS, a Lahti 20mm, USAS 12 shotgun etc, in the past
Probably the only way to get a grenade would be to live in a state where you can own a DD, fill out the paperwork to manufacture a DD, pay the $200 tax and wait for it to be approved. Once approved you can make a DD or have someone else (a DD manufacturer or machinist) build the grenade. If you use a licensed DD manufacturer you can send him the paper work and get a grenade back. If you use a local machinist, you need to be present when the work is being done (since you have the paperwork and he doesn’t have any license).
Last. I can’t think of any DD mfg who makes grenades. I doubt anyone would make one because of liability and safety reasons. If you want to make your own and can get atf to approve it. Go for it.
If you want to have fun, get some smoke grenades or flash bang grenades and play with them. The real thing is dangerous and once it pops the shrapnel goes in all directions including backwards."
I know a guy who made his own. He built his out of a blue spoon dummy. Total cost including tax stamp and parts was like $300

Whenever I watch a let’s play, I like to imagine the comments the players make as things the actual player characters are saying. This in particular is a really fun stream for that experiment.

15:24 Bloodstained RotN recently patched out the quality of life feature of the shop menus functioning properly. It can suddenly softlock your game after buying, selling or finishing a quest prompt too quickly and you have to manually restart the game. There are also instances where loading screens take upwards of a full minute to finish, bordering on Sonic 06 levels of load times.
Very interesting QoL removals honestly.
I get the spirit, but those are almost certainly bugs rather than conscious design decisions to worsen the players QoL

Party games were never about style. Nobody played Mario Party because of it being a Mario game-you only ever play it because you have friends who want to play a game together.
Asset flips? When a dev wants to make a game just for players to do something in, style will absolutely be the last concern. As it ought to be. Really, good art is just a bonus.
Did anyone ever think the look of Amogus looked good? Or Lethal company? Probably not. Nobody plays these games for their settings. Nobody who wants to play a space game is going to think Lethal Company is better than any other recognizable single player game in space.
If party games are just UA-camr bait unworthy of good reception because “they don’t have their priorities straight”, then goodbye all those games. Fuck human fall flat. Fuck any and all battle royales. Fuck real-life laser tag, fuck your state fairs and carnivals, etc etc. Fuck jackbox. Fuck Counterstrike. All games that explicitly have nothing to do with their set dressings. It’s wild that TF2 and Overwatch are/were the only multiplayer games that care about their in-universe characters-but, you know why? It’s because those devs *chose* to make those multiplayer games of theirs be about their characters and setting, secondary to the game. Mario Party sure as shit doesn’t. And it *shouldn’t*, because that’s the difference between multiplayer and party games. Party games aren’t about themselves.
You would complain about this original game, but not Tetris 99? Not f-zero 99? Games that already exist? Poor assets don’t matter-this series of platforms is, at least, not reusing any style, because it has none. Good.
You can’t be mad at ai art and then look at Fortnite and say that’s okay. That game is the most ai-art looking of all games that do not use ai art. Gee, I wonder why-maybe it’s the “lazy” mish-mash of already existing styles and characters. “If they wanted to just make a game, surely they should have the resources and will to just make their own art?” Why should this matter when not doing so has been a viable option for making original games, since the inception of video games.
Party games aren’t about art, assets, or style. If you think they are, if you think original style is a necessity, then the first game you should decry on that basis is Mario party-a game that isn’t about Mario, but uses Mario assets. Being from “the same devs” wouldn’t matter if style is king, and not gameplay.
Believe it or not, party games aren’t about themselves-if you don’t have friends to play these games with, they lose the reason to play them. I’m happy this one was easier for the developer to make because of their lack of need to focus on assets. It’s almost as if the setting of a game doesn’t fucking affect the goofs and gaffs a group of friends can have while doing something. What a shocker.
Maybe if you’re against ai art, don’t click and comment and like and grant watch time to videos about games that include it. Maybe try not promoting it. Writing a comment about how you dislike it *is* promoting it. You don’t have the choice to have it not be so, unless you choose to not comment at all.
