Savage 110 Tactical: The Best Option for Beginners
Savage Arms has build a reputation for have accurate rifles even in their most accurate rifles such as the Savage Axis 2. the Savage 110 Tactical being the Axis' big brother is no exception to that rule.
the Savage 110 tactical is likely the best suited rifle for beginners or as a first option to precision rifle shooting who want a rifle they can grow with and an action they can build on.
Why the 110 tactical and not the 110?
-Accutrigger: all Savages have an Accutrigger, the ones on the 110's are miles ahead of the savage axis 2 Accutriggers
-Extended/ oversized bolt knob (makes cycling the action easier more leverage for extraction and a lighter bolt lift
-Medium profile 24" fluted button riffled barrel. Button riffling is the easiest way to cut the lands in the barrels riffling but they are not usually the most accurate, savage has gotten that right!
    -Takes AICS Magazines!
-the Stock: the stock has a variety of features that makes it great. changeable comb/lenght of pull, aluminum chassis embeded in the stock ensuring you are getting the most accuracy out of that barreled action.
The optic we were using is the
IOR Raider 3-25x56, this optic is impressive, While it being a "top tier" optic makes you expect excellent glass and lots of internal adjustment, it won't prepare you for this level, this optic has 40 MILS (or roughly 140moa) of internal adjustment (no that's not a typo) and the widest field of view you will likely ever see on a optic with this magnification range (and amazing glass), If you are looking to pick one up take at

Fabulous video and rifle workout.Just what I was looking for, the facts and only the facts. The footage was a well appreciated extra as well as the aftermarket availables. This rifle is just the price range I want too be in after 6 years of absence due to plain old range burnout. This will be my first Savage after decades of Remingtons.I'm just not ready too pay $1800 for an Alpha 1 till it's been out for awhile, especially with the market offering some really fantastic firearms.I'll be picking the 110 up tomorrow after work.👏👍

Bought mine in 6.5PRC around 8 months ago. Shooting both Norma 147 grain and hornady precision Hunter and precision target all well sub MOA. Put a muzzle brake on it and the felt recoil is Similar to that of an M-16 . Heavy gun, little recoil. Love everything about it but the angle of the hand grip, wish it was more vertical. Main point: extremely accurate and excellent price!

I took inspiration from your Tikka .223 build and did a Savage varmint build and put it in a oryx chassis with a Arken 5-25 scope. This rifle makes it EASY to shoot out to 300-500 yards. I need to find somewhere I can push it to its limits. It’s a lot more fun and cheaper to shoot than my AR.

I have the Savage 110 hog hunter 308, bought used and it's a tack driver. This is probably my next rifle, or the precision. My biggest gripe on the hog hunter is the 4 shot internal magazine, but $300 slightly used that shoots my hand loads at 1/2 moa I can't complain.

You really need to check out the CZ 600 Alpha Black. I got mine in 6.5 PRC for under $750 US (that's with tax, shipping, and transfer fee) and have it topped with an Arken EP5 5-25X56. I easily get sub MOA with the four different factory loads I've tried and often print these little 3 leaf clover groups with the Hornady 143 gr ELD-X Precision Hunter.

I have one in left hand. Bought for my son two years ago. He moved out of country, Japan. So he said sell it, so I took it to the range and shot it with 143 Norma Golden Target and Hornady 147 ELDX. It was a joke in 6.5 CR, it was to easy my 300-500 yard groups were -1"-2.5". The Norma golden target was the prefered cartridge hitting 4 out of five shots on a 1" metal round plate/swinger @ 500 yards. My range buddies, were who's hitting the one inch, I said, "me with a lefty 6.5 CR, a Whiskey 3 12x scope and the Norma Golden Target plinking ammo". That's how accurate this system is, it's no joke!
It's a shame to sell it, I'm right handed and I know lefty rifles don't sell well.
I have a savage Axis II Veil .223 1:8 twist, 22" BBL ($327) which loves Sig Sauer 77 gr and I will bang that 1" plate @ 500 2-3 times out of 5 shots @ 500 yards on a calm day. I am impressed with Savage rifles cost vs accuracy, just impressive precision capability from their stocks and barrels. My Ruger Ranch in 5.56 is just as accurate using Sig 5.56 77 gr and Barnes 85 gr. Factory ammo has come a long way! Ball ammo has been made irrelevant in rifles, just do away with it and bring boat tail cost down:).

The 3 I still have shoot sub MOA all day long and all function flawlessly. I don’t have any expensive rifles per say but they are right up there with the 2 tikkas I own. Savage man for life! Cheers from Canada eh 🍻🇨🇦🤘

I actually like the accustock. I have one on a custom 260 Remington and comparing it to several other hunting style stocks it has more material cutout at the thumb position making the grip much more comfortable for prone shooting then most other hunting style stocks. That was no coincidence on savages part. Combine that with the full aluminum pillar bedding, adjustable comb and pull length and that is a lot of bang for the buck. And its far more practical for hunting than a chassis.

    Bolt isn’t the smoothest.

Mine came loose the second round and I had todo what I failed todo at the range so just take the time before you go to the range and remove the base lock tight it and torque it properly. I give this rifle 10/10 next week I’m taking it to 1000 yards

try reloading those 155 gun nosler custom competition bulletss; I know everyone else goes in for those 175 grain SMK but these noshers cut through the air so much better, and the recoil is less along with the flight times being boosted faster and hitting the target much quicker as a result. You can safely load it to 3000 fps and get out to a thousand faster with these!

I wouldn't think 1.25' was a good/accurate group but I still wonder what Savage would you recommend buying from their huge line up for a precision rifle or HMR type rifle, since you've probably shot most of them and they have a few. Is the Access Precision as good as the 110 and others??? Or should a guy try to build a precision rig like the JC rig you just did a video about, on a budget?

    • @EpikArms
      @EpikArms  Рік тому +2

can can get rather close to a custom rigs precision with a factory rifle. although a custom rig on its worst day will outperform a factory rifle on its best, so even if the 4000$ expence is high it will hold a tighter group much more consistantly than a factory rifle and weill perform better with a variety of load. now that said between the axis 2 precision and the 110 tactical id go with the one with the better action; the 110 tactical its a action you can realy build of of down the road, alternatively consider a tikka t3x varmint (even better option) or a bergara like Ernestpower recommended.

i have this rifle and it shoots great from the bench, but in my opinion its almost too long and heavy to be enjoyable to carry as a deer hunting rifle. at least not an ideal length and weight. I originally bought it just before the ammo shortage and thought it would be a good dual purpose hunting and target shooting rifle. Im wondering if it would be a better option to have the barrel shortened to 16 inches, buy a new barrel(and possibly ,or not, convert to 308 at the same time), or just sell it and move on to something else. Right now ive got probably less than 2 boxes of ammo through it and its in mint condition. If I start modifying it im afraid ill never get that money back out of it if i end up not being happy with it. Opinions?

@@southern842 i already have a ruger american compact in 308 with a 1-4x24 scope on it that works great for deer hunting, other than the magazines im not happy with and the flimsy stock isnt all that great either, but it does work great for its intended purpose. originally with the savage i was hoping to get something i could shoot more at the range so id be better practiced with it when it came time to hunt. i recently tried it again for a hog hunt and it wasnt as bad as i remember, but i really think a shorter barrel would be a good upgrade on these savages for anyone that isnt hunting or shooting super long range

I have one of these in 6.5 Creedmoor left handed. I found out back in early 2020 that it shoots S&B 140 GR FMJ about 1 MOA, sometimes under if I do my part. I was then able to stock up on it (1,000 rds) when it was $11 a box…. 😁. Now it’s not….
I just found out that it shoots Norma Whitetail 140 GR SPs at .5 MOA… I was shooting at 100 yds and I didn’t quite believe that I had 5 shots in pretty much one hole until I walked up there.

Still a great pump gun even though it is mostly plastic, ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxh4su9YgU1tWmjikirWcKJbjsFLEU62Bc but with care it will last a long time. It would be neat if Crosman would make a commemorative version of this with real wood stock, but of course it would weigh more and cost more, but hey, it would be cool. The included scope is more of a toy, but it does work for backyard plinking. I prefer to use pellets for greater accuracy, but BBs are just as good for plinking. This is not a Red Ryder folks; fully pumped it is 3 times the power of a Red Ryder and can be dangerous if not handled properly. Be safe out there.
