The rear tracking buttons are for playback head tracking / skew. It basically helped the playback image if you saw ‘ skew lines’ in your video. Various brand VHS tapes could all track a little different so this allowed fine control to align the head to the tape signal. However… these cameras also had a REC REVIEW button as well to see a “ quick” playback of the last few seconds of footage. Good times 😅
Such a cool find! Another west coaster here, and I too can attest that I rarely find vintage camcorders at DI. When I do, they are always overpriced and rarely work. I did find a vintage DVCPro news broadcast camera there once and it actually worked! It was probably the coolest thrift score of my life.
Hey all, I recently came across a GE VHS camera from Goodwill (model says 9-9609) So far everything works fine but I cannot get the camera to stay on while not recording, I wanted to set it up for use as a 'webcam' but I am only able to keep it from sleeping if it is actively recording and id rather not to save on the wear and tear the unit was really clean and doesn't seem to have had much use when it was with its original owner.
I need more friends who skate and ride scooters lmao. my friend has this SAME EXACT CAMERA but the audio circuitry is weird. He bought a mic and an amp for said mic though :3
