Amber, I have two methods for boiling eggs. One is that I put the eggs in a saucepan of cool water that just covers the eggs. I add a good amount of Kosher salt and bring the eggs to a boil. Once they begin to boil, I turn off the heat and cover the pan with a lid. I set the timer for 14 minutes. Drain the hot water after 14 minutes. I then put the eggs in an ice bath or let cold water run over them until they are cool. The peels tend to come right off. The second method that I use, especially when hard boiling numerous eggs, is to pressure cook them in my Instant Pot. I add about a cup and a half of water to my Instant Pot, place a trivet into the pot and place the eggs on the trivet. I pressure cook them for four minutes, let them naturally release for about 4-5 minutes, release the rest of the pressure, and then place the eggs into an ice water bath for five minutes. They peel amazingly well and look good too. I tend to do the crack and roll method for peeling. 😄
My mom and I do hard boiled eggs that way too, bringing them to a boil then turning off the heat and covering. The age of the eggs has been the only thing that makes them harder to peel in my experience, but only very rarely does the shell stick so much that the white gets peeled off too. Definitely the best way I've found!
I’ve been cooking mine in the pressure cooker and will NEVER cook them any other way. You don’t have to track the time or temp and they peel SO easily!!
@@albionswede Do you find that older eggs or fresher eggs are harder to peel?
@@stephaniesullivan8154 Older tend to give grey edges on the yolks easily if overcooked, but are definitely much easier to peel. My mom always said to use half your eggs for breakfast this week and the other half for hard boiled next week.
So many good suggestions from people here! I love it!
I invested in an egg cooker. One of the best kitchen items I own. I can make omelets, soft boiled and hard boiled eggs with it. I don't even have to watch them and they're perfect every time.
Oh interesting! I need to check that out.
The older the eggs, the easier to peel. Also, smoked paprika is the way to go and try celery seed in them. It's amazing!
Thanks for the tip!
What does celery seed bring to the taste of this? Is it peppery?
I work in cosmetics in a department store. One thing I've had to learn is letting the client see your mistake when teaching an application of a product. Then you can teach them how to fix it because it will happen.
Thank you for just rolling with it!
For Easter, we do lamb, garlic mashed potatoes, peas with tarragon, and a spring mix salad of some sort. Carrot cake for dessert.
Oh yum! I love lamb
Oh my….. because my home is kinda the hub for both our families….. lol I fail in some sort with our Easter lamb cake….. it is usually the lamb ears…. lol everyone knows…. If you get close to the head….. watch for tooth picks holding in the ears….
I actually took my MOM'S spices when she passed away. They were brand new. By the time I realized I had them, THEY WERE EXPIRED FOR AT LEAST 20 YEARS!!!!! I never thought to look at the expiration dates because they are spices!!! Who would actually pay attention to expiration dates on spices?? I needed cream of tartar for something, and it was expired!!! My mom passed away in 2000, and I went to use the cream of tartar in 2022!!!!! So, don't feel bad!!!! I LOVE corned beef and cabbage!!!! I will be also making those biscuits!!!! They look delicious!!!!
WOW! That's funny. I never really think to look either, except that I thought that one had been in there a long time.
I peel the hard boiled egg from the larger end of the egg. In this way you can get under the membrane which peels the shell of the egg beautifully. ❤
Interesting. I've never heard that!
I will only use my instant pot for boiling eggs! Pull them right out as soon as pressure is released (you will have to play around with the time, I set it for 6 minutes) add them to an ice bath. After a few minutes, I crack the shell on a paper towel on the counter all over and put it back in the water. A few more minutes and I peel. Perfect every time!!
Great tip!
Oh my gosh I crasked up so much at the "blue heese"!! 😂😂Thank you for the laugh!
Oh thing I know, is I am always good for that! 😂😂
I watch Mandy in the making and love when she sings and now you??? You both sound great on keeping tune love love it!!!! Great entertainment for a 66 yr old cooking guy heart❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much!
Ham is always on menu. Don't worry Amber love your videos. Menu sounds good. 😊
Thank you 😋
Thanks for hanging in there! Your recipes are great!❤
Glad you like them!
Just rewatched this. Kroger stores have Chunky applesauce ❤
Amber, I simply love your bloopers. It makes you so relatable like the rest of us who make mistakes.🤪 Everything you made today looked great, especially the stuffed pork loin. One last thing, I have a very small kitchen with practically no counter space, so I LOVE your kitchen set up. I am so jealous to have that much counter space and drawers!!☺
Oh thank you! I really appreciate the layout of this kitchen. I didn't initially but the more I'm In here, the more I love it.
I always have peeled my boiled eggs in a pot of warm water. They always come off clean and easy.
Great tip!
I boil the eggs with a good amount of salt. When time is up I rinse the hot water, crack the shells and leave them inside room temperature water for a few minutes. Usually that helps and peel easily.
Great tip!
Thank you for redoing it for us🥰🥰
My pleasure!!
Great ideas for Easter thanks Amber!
You are so welcome!
I will definitely try that crumble.
It's so good!
They all look so delicious
Thank you!
Yes, we have deviled eggs every holiday. Also scalloped potatoes. Yum❣️
So good!
Girl, I love this video 😂 😊 thank you for being real with us
Always!
Deviled Eggs? Always on my holiday table. And sometimes, even as an appetizer!
Absolutely!
Perfect timing, I was looking for new recipes to try for Easter and didn't know where to start. Now, I want to try all of it.
Awesome!
All of these recipes sound amazing! I will definitely try them! Thank you❤
Glad you like them!
I bought the same butter dish you have and love it!
I absolutely love it!
Good afternoon Amber and thank you for sharing your yummy meals
You are so welcome!
This was great! You made me laugh and brought joy. Good job persevering! God loves you! ❤
Thank you so much!
Those potatoes and the stuffed pork looks so delicious! It all does! I'm not much on salmon or deviled eggs, but I bet they are delicious too! I can't wait to try these recipes! Have a blessed week Amber! 💕
Thank you!! You too
The pork loin looked delish and the crumble bars were pretty too. ☀
Thank you!
My oven doesn't make a noise but my washing machine plays "Jingle Bells" when it finishes lol. Love the recipes this week Amber. We don't tend to make deviled eggs here in the UK but the filling sounds lovely for just a sandwich filling. Loved the pork loin recipe and can't wait to try those sour cream biscuits. Thank you so much for sharing xxx
Jingle bells?? How cool
thank you
You're welcome
Hey hey Amber ❤️❤️. I loved every single one of these 😍....thank you for sharing 😊.
You are so welcome!
Awesome video, thanks 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love the down to earth, regular folks, presentation, particularly the pastry blender falling apart! I'm using the biscuits recipe tomorrow for Easter dinner! Thanks
So glad you enjoyed! Yes you are getting the real thing here
Have you tried the mason jar method? You put just like maybe an inch or a little bit less of water in the bottom of a mason jar and putting your egg seal up the mason jar and shake it and it takes that peel off so easily and you have a perfect egg
😲no!!! I need to try
That's the way I peel my eggs. Works great every time. And some of them just peel themselves while I shake them.
Amber, thank you so much for taking the time to do a make over. These recipes look amazing and not too time consuming. Rita
You are so welcome!
Favorite summer activity is swimming and hiking
Love it!
Lol! Your dumpster fire is my every day cooking experience! Thank you for sharing your mess ❤️ also, I’ve tried every method for hard boiled eggs. Instapot, stove top,
Stop top with baking soda. It’s hit or miss. Something’s it’s great, others not so much. Honestly seems to depend on the age of the eggs.
This made me laugh! Dumpster fire.
This was a fun episode.
I loved it!
❤ beautiful deep. Thank you so much. Enjoyed your video today giving me great ideas for our Easter lunch. Have a blessed Easter reserve the
You are so welcome!
Always have deviled eggs, grandkids love them
We do too!
The berry bars sound so good. I like that they're not loaded with sugar. Looking forward to trying them. Thank you.
Hope you enjoy!!
My husband is the only person in the house who can peel the hard boiled eggs. Mine look like they went through the shredder. He uses a spoon and somehow it just magically comes out super clean!
Sounds like my house!
I make a spring mix salad with mandarin oranges, and it's delicious and feta cheese
Sounds great!
Hey I just had to tell you I finally got to make that Tuscan Chicken recipe. So good!
YES!! It's a family favorite.
I use my instant pot to "boil" my eggs. They always peel super easy! I just found your channel recently. I love your videos and can't wait to try some of your recipes!
So many people saying this!
We have deviled eggs for every family gathering and holiday it's a must
So good!
Older eggs are easier to peel. Also, the hack where you tap the fat end of the egg with a teaspoon until you hear the membrane pop before boiling seems to work. It’s been all over TikTok recently.
Oh interesting !
American potatoes salad, my mother in laws German potatoes salad, and deviled eggs, and our thaw and rise yeast ros are always a must.
Oh and for my daughter in law and oldest grandson - hashbrown casserole!
I LOVE hashbrown casserole!
Yes, I have always had deviled eggs on my Easter table along with a Baked Ham, mashed potatoes & sweet potatoes (for me, my husband doesn’t like these or the deviled eggs-but I do), and usually green beans for my husband and Broccoli for me! My husband is a diabetic, so we don’t have many desserts! Thank you for all of your recipes!! Bless you!!
NORMA COLLINS FROM TEXAS
So glad you're here! Happy Easter
We always use Mayo with deviled eggs.
I usually do too but this was so good
I use cream of tarter to make snickerdoodle cookies. They are so good so I always have it on hand.
Oooo! That's interesting!
I can find chunky applesauce at Winn Dixie and Publix. I live in Florida. You could always make your own. It does exist 😆
I didn't check Publix!
I'm cooking a French onion chicken and vegetable recipe I found today, along with potatoes. I'm hoping it will be good. 🤷♀️🙏
Oh man! Sounds good!
I add a touch of vinegar to the water when I’m boiling the eggs and it helps making them easier to peel
That’s a great idea!
I keep my egg plate up high just like you and always gotta get it down for the wife when she makes them lol😂. So I ain’t the only one reaching sooooo funny
I always need help reaching things! Lol
I watched your video today, all the way to the end. I was so impressed with the Bible scripture at the end, so that’s why I subscribed.
So glad you stayed!
Hey Amber 😊 I start the eggs in very cold water, I've found when they come to temp together, they don't crack...older eggs peel easier
Good to know!
The older the eggs, the easier they are to peel. Buy them about a month before your event, or just find ones have an expiration date shortly after your event date.
Great tips!
I boil my eggs with a pinch of salt & three drops of vegetable oil, then when done I pour out the boiling water & just add Luke warm water & set aside usually I let sit for 3-5 mins before the hit & roll method. Yes deviled eggs are a staple for all holidays in my home too.
Oh interesting!
So sorry for the problems you had with your video. This is my first time for viewing your videos. I learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed watching. Have a great Easter 🐣
I am so glad you enjoyed!
I have farm fresh eggs from banty and larger chickens they peel so easily by steaming about the same time you would cook that size. Of courts plunge in ice water, I add a little more ice to fill. Easy off every single time
Great tips!
I heard that fresh eggs are miserable to peel but as you get closer to the sell by date they are easier. Getting under that thin membrane is tricky on the fresh eggs. I can rip my hair out peeling them! Love your videos! You have the prettiest eyes!
You are so sweet! Thank you
I’ve perfected hard boiled eggs by putting the eggs in your pot when the water is just before a soft simmer. Bring to a boil, lower to a simmer. 9 mins, ice bath and peel. I’ll diff have to try those smoked salmon delved eggs 😋
They are so good!
I have the same cheese grater.
I use it all the time also and not just for cheese
To make hash browns, shredded zucchini & apples for recipes
Me too!! It's amazing
I use my instant pot to cook hard boiled eggs. They are so easy to peel. They’re so easy to peel. I make a batch every week. I used to hate peeling them in the morning. Try it. I really think you’ll love it.
So many people said this! I'm definitely going to try it
Cassandra. If you keep the boiled eggs in ice water for about 5 minutes, it helps in peeling them. I also peel them in the ice water. I gently crack the ends then the sides of the hard boiled eggs outside of the of the iced water, then peel them in the ice water. Your fingers are cold but the eggs 90% of the time are good.
Great tip!
Loving ur hacks with jiffy mix definitely going to try them all. I use jiffy mix to make a chilli corn dog dish.
So good . Recipe: 1 box of jiffy mix, ingredients to make corn bread , pkg of hotdogs (chopped) , 2 cups grated cheese ,2 cans chilli of choice (I use wolf brand), sour cream if desired.
mix as instructed , stir in chopped hotdogs, add 1/2 cup grated cheese. Pour into a lg casserole dish spayed with cooking spray, cook as directed on pkg. Once done remove from oven and spread 2 cans of chilli covering all the corn bread, top with remaing cheese add more if desired , pop back in oven to heat chilli & melt cheese Maybe 3-5 min depending on how melted u want ur cheese, keep a close watch as not to burn ur cheese. add a dollop of sour cream if desired. ENJOY!. Very easy to down size , ( I do as it's just 2 of us ), just cut all in half including jiffy mix and use a 8x8 pan. I use only 1/2 box of mix as we don't care for really thick cornbread but ur choice .
Sounds so easy too!
I love the smoked salmon deviled eggs! I finally think I found my favorite method 😊 I add vinegar to the water and a pinch of salt. As soon as the eggs come to a boil, I let them boil for about a minute. Then I turn the heat off and cover with the lid . Let them stay there for 10-15 minutes. Then I put them in the ice bath until they are cool to the touch- I make sure to move them around a bit so that the yolks don’t settle in a weird spot. To peel I tap both ends then roll. If any shell sticks, I finish peeling under cold water. It took me a while to figure out the best timing- I usually only hard boil 6 eggs or less. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful recipes and experience! I hope y’all have an amazing week 🌻
Great tips! Thank you!
@@FeedingtheByrds Hi Amber- I made the hard boiled eggs again today- they were the best I’ve made so far- the difference is I added the salt as you suggested! 🌻
I had to laugh at the "feel free to use a whisk." I bought my first whisk just a few years ago (I'm nearing 60) because I felt like I was missing out. Before then, I'd always "whisked" with a fork! So funny.
😁😁 fork user here!
Try this: tap the egg’s large end and blow into it. That separates the shell and membrane. Peel ! Easy-peazy
I just tried it! So cool
I love dill! I recently bought a large bag from Amazon because I got tired of running out. I nearly always use it when cooking chicken. It's great with various salad dressings, tartar sauce, potato or pasta salad etc. As for Hard-boiled eggs, I really don't think there's the ideal way of peeling. I always cook and peel the same way, but, it's still hit or miss. To boil them, I start out by covering the eggs with cold water, bring just to a boil, lid on, remove from heat and leave covered for 15-20 minutes. Then I peel them under running water.
We love dill too. I will add it to so many recipes.
My husband is not a fan of ham either. We always have pork tenderloin for Easter. So good, so easy.
It's so good!
I like holding boiled eggs under running water to peel the shell off.
That's what my husband does too!
I have used the Dash Egg cooker for a long time now…. So love it! It never fails me… I have even thrifted one for my sister too…. lol, it also has features for making other kinds of egg… I was taught to cut/slice through whole egg when preparing deviled eggs…. My Great Grandmother, my Grandmother and Mother all did it that way… I had the privilege to closely learn from all of them….. I so think I need that cheese grater… can you grate veggies in it?
My friend Mandy keeps telling me I need that!
Always make my own but in a pinch I use to be able to buy some chunky motts but it’s been years since I’ve seen them in the store. Out of curiosity I checked Amazon for you. They carry some. Of course.
What doesn't Amazon carry??
@@FeedingtheByrds 🤷🏼♀️
I prolly wouldn't noticed what video you lost and where you started 😊
Great recipes for Easter or anytime
I'm so glad!
I have been loving a lot of your recipes. Question for you on the salmon and dill deviled eggs how much salmon would you use for a dozen of eggs I know you said 3 ounces but that was on a lesser amount of eggs I believe.
I think for the full recipe I used 4 oz and I made 10 eggs. But honestly, I would just start there and if you look at the mixture and feel like it needs more, you can definitely add it.
Removing egg shells is made easier if the water is boiling before the eggs are submerged, When the eggs are cooked, pour off the hot water and gently shake the pan to slightly crack the eggs.. Now slide them into the ice bath. Slightly cracking them allows the ice water to get between the egg and shell and lifts the shell away. The key though is to have the water up to a boil before adding eggs. Hope this helps. Happy Easter! Love your channel.
⬆️ this!
Oh this is a great tip!
Easter for us was always ham, deviled eggs, carrots, and fresh green beans. 😀
Sounds like ours only we have homemade potato salad as well.
Nice!
Love homemade potato salad!
Hit them and crack the shell before you drain the hot water. Leave them in it for about 5 minutes. They peel alot easier.
Great tip!
1:50 My mom's kitchen (& now mine) YES cream of tarter ends up being older than your kids 😂 Oddly I just $ a new one. PERFECT recipe for me! Looks like a spin on my Red Lobster buscuit recipe (that is way better than the restaurant). Totally 🎉gonna try to combine the 2 recipes... I need to use cream of tarter now!
Edit: lol you just mentioned Red Lobster biscuits 😂 ALWAYS ADD EXTRA CHEESE, you wont regret!
Yes!!! Good idea
I make my eggs in my instant pot so easy 3 mic 10 min me comes out perfect every time
So many people saying this!
I've heard of chunky applesauce, I love it but can only find it @ Redner's grocery store in PA
Interesting!
Baked spiral ham, deviled eggs and broccoli salad.
Broccoli salad is a good one!
Instapot is the way to go with hard boiled eggs… the 5 5 5 method… peelings slide right off!
I just tried this for easter and it worked!!
555 method. Five in instant pit 5 natural release 5 in ice bath. Perfectly peeled.. from fridge room temp or right outta ice bath. No "freckles"
Great tip!
I do 4-4-4. 😂
cool
Your Pam glass! :) :)
Yes!!!!
Try using your air fryer and put eggs in ice bath for at least 5 minutes. Makes it a dream to fix deviled eggs. Depending on the wattage of your air fryer and the size of your eggs...250 - 270 degrees for 12 - 17 mins. The eggs don't need to be turned (you can cook up to 12 eggs at a time) but the shells will look speckled when done. The eggs will not be discolored. I make hard boiled eggs all the time now.
Oh interesting!
Chunky applesauce is always available in the Philadelphia area. My husband’s favorite. However, we have moved to Dallas, TX and I cannot find it anywhere!
Maybe that's the issue here. It's just in certain regions.
I boil my eggs in my instapot. Cook them on the steem mode for six minutes and put them in the ice bath. The eggs peel very easily.
So many people saying this.
I bring eggs in water to a boil and boil uncovered for 10 minutes then cover pot and turn off and let sit for 10 minutes. I THEN put it in an ice bath for 10 minutes then roll and crack.
Good to know!! Thank you
👍😊❣️
My fork is my favorite cooking utensil 😂even if I have my whisk, hand mixer, ect...😂❤
Right?? It's just so convenient!
I find if I put the boiled eggs in a zip lock bag and refrigerate them for 30 minutes or so, the yokes come out so very easy.
Oh this is a great tip!
Dessert - lemon meringue pie for Easter.
Yum!
Always have deviled eggs!
Same!
Did you know that eggs freshly laid don't make good hard boiled eggs? They are impossible to peel. I learned this when we pet sat for folks with hens. Always use older eggs for deviled eggs. Fresh from the nest are fine to bake with or scramble.we learned this the hard way. I live in a small condo and buy supermarket eggs. I bake a lot and use a lot of eggs. In summer I love having hardboiled eggs to use in salads and sliced for sandwiches. I boil from the older carton in the fridge and aim for medium hardness.I don't bother with an ice bath; just put them in a marked egg carton right into the fridge. Then peel as needed. The counter between my oven and fridge is the baking station. I keep a rectangular plastic box with 2 sticks of butter and 3 or 4 eggs at room temp. and handy. Mom taught me that square corners take up less space than round.
Great tips!! These eggs were actually 2 weeks old so I don't know what in the world the issue was.
👏👍
You can find chunky applesauce at Kroger. Love watching your channel.
Thank you so much!
