The Marais family is known for their long service in the executions of many a convicted criminal in the Lands Between. They also participate in the worship of the Blade of Miquella and the bearer of the dreaded Scarlet Rot herself, Malenia.
One fine day, however, an attempted execution of one Elemer of the Briar resulted in the Marais family underestimating the mighty Eochaidian's power. The family was soon driven out of the Shaded Castle, leaving Elemer to preside over it.
The weapon wielded by Maleigh Marais is known as the Antspur Rapier, a thrusting sword fashioned out of the stinger of a Giant Ant. This dreadful weapon inflicts Scarlet Rot with every swing and thrust, but becomes even more potent when infused with Poison, Bleed, or Cold affinities.

@@Toot7. If it's the version of Scarlet Rot that usually procs from the Antspur Rapier, then it won't, since it doesn't deal enough damage to kill Malenia at almost full health.
