Couldn’t understand that person’s ideology, since they don’t hold any valid visas to enter this country, why we have the obligations or promises to secure them a pathway to permanent residency, just send them back home. If they wanna stay here, apply for it by a legal access just like any other legal immigrants, if these persons can secure a pr, that’s totally an exploitation against all legal immigrants and that’s totally unfair.
I don’t understand why people feel they have the right to enter any country of their choosing just because they “want a better life”. I want several million dollars, should I just go to the bank and demand they give it to me? This way of thinking should not be normalized.
You're right; you don't understand. It's not about people feeling they've got the right to enter any country... It's about the fact that whatever the situation, they should be given a resolution quickly. "This way of thinking should not be normalized." The same way cruel and inhumane treatment of asylum seekers should not be normalized. What possible excuse is there for anyone to be held in detention for over 10 years? Process the claims within a reasonable timeframe (say, 6-8 weeks) and those who are unsuccessful can be repatriated, while those who are successful can be integrated into society so they start paying their way and contributing to the country. Taxpayers should be appalled at the flagrant misuse of their tax dollars by the government blithely frittering it away to make this PNGs problem (under the pretence that it's "aid" money). It seems even criminals have more rights as you can't just hold someone indefinitely without charging them or giving them their day in court.
Because they use the legal system to stay that way. The Biloela couple (Tamils) lost 9 successive court cases but with the aid of supporters and they kept appealing each decision.@@Agnelum1
@@Agnelum1 Keep in mind the behaviours of male refugees in detention centres too! Staff and locals have been subjected to physical violence. Burned down medical facilities in Nauru and child molestation in PNG and Nauru ! There are laws for a reason. It’s a national safety threat to allow someone with no visa paper work and invalid passport.
Countries need to be able to care for their own people. It's hard when they're 3rd world poor countries. This is why wars are fought, hopelessness. I bet If New Guinea had China come in and improve their rail and ship ports Austrilla would take note to stop China.
they making claims on on an contract they have not read. What has been put forward in the news article does sound fishy but no one from PNG government gave a statement only service providers that want to be continued to be paid to provide a service.

@@Agnelum1 I would have to agree with the point you make. Unfortunately, politicians many times do what is best for their agendas.

They prolong the situation by continually appealing to the public, the UN , the Court system in Australia etc. @@Agnelum1

If they’ve been in limbo for so long, there must good reasons that they are inadmissible. Repatriate them already!
It’s because their passports from their home

Did Australia foul PNG or PNG foul Australia in December 2021?
Both gvts are to be blamed for this.
