Currently reading "The One". America is the WORST protagonist, but I need to know what dumb thing she is going to say so that I will have another reason to complain about her. The selection series is like a late 90's romantic comedy. The characters play a stereotype, the protagonist is "too pure to be real", the jokes aren't funny but they're funny that they're not funny and the love interest only has eyes for the protagonist. You know they're going to end up together, but you still want to watch anyway because it is such trash. haha!!!
I was so surprised at how much I loved this series because I never read romance kind of stuff. But it has just enough dystopian and conspiracy themes to make it appealling beyond the romance, and that's part of why I think it was so good.
@@ella6784 LilyCReads is a booktuber. She had a review on Anna and the French Kiss, but unfortunately she deleted all of her rant reviews because she didn't want her channel to be negative.
Honestly all I want to do after watching this is curl up in bed and read all the trashy YA I can find haha. Definitely the best remedy to cure a book slump! :D
Emma if you ever make a fashion video talking about your style and clothes I would be the first one to view it!! You look so gorgeous in every single video ❤️
i literally liked this video just because of the "bella, edward and jacob? all absolute idiots!" help i cant stop laughing idek why i just didnt expect you to say that HAHHAHHAHAH
am I the only one who would classify The Mortal Instruments and all the other books as trashy YA? :) love The Infernal Devices and the new series she came out with :) but still a little fluffy and sweet :)
I've always sort of felt like The Princess Diaries series was sort of "trashy." I was so obsessed with those books as a teenager and even freaked out when Meg Cabot came out with a new novel for the series featuring adult Mia two years ago. Actually, most of Meg Cabots books (I've read most all of her books and serieses) are sort of trashy and I adore all of them!
idk.. i think i wouldn't consider The Princess Diaries "trashy". I actually learned a lot from the books and still to this day i love the with my heart
I love the positivity that you have this video! You care about these books so much, and you very obviously love talking about them. You're so unapologetically enthusiastic and genuinely kind to these books that get dragged a lot, and it's so wonderful and refreshing to hear.
I am reading Heartless right now! I love how you fully embrace it so many people feel pressured to not like 'trashy' books and are shamed for it in reading circles. But it is so great to point out you can love a book just because it is entertaining.
It makes me laugh when someone likes twilight but because many other people dont like it they feel the need to excuse themselves saying stuff like "yeah i dont really like it . Its just enjoyable " Really guys embrace it💓 It's one of my fav series on the same level as TMI or harry potter.. Love your hair emma 😚
The book series that saved my life. Hands down the mortal instruments. No other book affected me like that. I was going through a really rough time and alllll I did was read. I was like 13 or 14 and it was thanksgiving and my mom bought me City of bones and I fell in love. I struggle with depression and anxiety so I read so much at this time (I still read a lot ) like I was in 7th grade and my school tested us on how fast we read. And I was reading 3-5 pages a minute (still kinda do) because I get so obsessed with the series. I will never not have love for Cassie Clare. She really saved me. Also the twilight series played a big role in my development as an early teenager. So when I hear ppl say they don't like it I'm shocked because yes it corny and cringey but it's such beautiful work
I Love Love Love Vampire Academy and Bloodlines!! Sooo good, Adrian is literally my ❤️. Another trashy YA is the Fallen series, I finished the first book in two days❤
Only found this video now, but I love your take on books. I'm so tired of listening to people tear books apart. You love them for what they are and what they're intended to be. I don't understand why people want realism in their books and films so much, reality bites. The purpose of stories is escape, why escape only to read some reality. Loved the video, thanks.
OMG Heartless is so good. I was absolutely heartbroken throughout the book. The ending really sent me mixed feelings but I LOVED it, I love all of Marissa Meyer’s books!
The Vampire Academy was one of the first book series that made me realize I have a thing for trashy YA novels cause I knew it was totally underdeveloped while I read it & even stupid at times but gosh it was addicting hehehe
Aleena Tanveer, there's characters that are introduced in vampire academy that appear in Bloodlines, and it would spoil the Vampire Academy series if you decided to read it later.Sydney who is the main character in Bloodlines has a huge part in book #4 of vampire academy series. It's my favorite of the first series. I mean The author does write the Bloodlines series in a way to remember what happened in the Vampire academy series with returning characters. I'd say read Vampire Academy series first if you can. 😁😊😁
Personally I wouldn't call them 'trashy' but I agree that they're all fun series! Basically all the books that I started off with when I got into YA. :D No shame. Entertaining, non-heavy in theme, and just..yeah fun. :D I'm not a huge fan of overly serious topics so I guess most of the books I read would be considered 'trashy' then. :/
i use trashy as an affectionate term, not a negative one :) there's a lot of great books out there with non-serious themes, that doesn't mean there's anything "lesser" about them!
KatTheBooknerd I'm in the same boat. I hate those book with very serious themes, because I don't feel like dragging my mood down :) I wanna have fun while reading :)
These kind of books make me feel so cosy inside (if that makes any sense at all) it reminds me of when I first got into reading and was so obsessed and such a fangirl ahh I miss it so much!
My favourite trashy YA books are deeefinitely the House of Night books by PC and Kristin Cast. They're just a lovely bit of easy, fun, infuriating YA fluff. There are so many love triangles and squares and octagons I've literally lost count, they're a weird new take on vampires because duh they came out around the same time as Twilight, the main characters are all so simultaneously badass and stupid and you can't help but love them, Aphrodite is my absolute favourite 'bitchy best friend' character from any book ever, the main villain is actually incredible and really well written, the main character has this awesome Grandma that reminded me of my Nana, and there are so many real legends and folk stories woven into it in really cool ways and I just... *sighs contentedly* I love these books. If you're a person who still enjoys Twilight, I can pretty much guarantee that you'll enjoy these too. And the authors are busy writing a new sequel series set 5 years (I think) after the end of the last book and I'm so freaking excited :3
Laura Elizabeth oh man, Aphrodite was fave 😂😂 I think I left off on 'hunted' and never picked up the next ones. I'm looking up the series on Amazon to see if I can the full set of books 😍😍
Loved this video and how happy you are talking about all these books! I also love how you don't apologize for liking the books you like. No one should have to! 💕
As soon as I saw the title I thought of The Selection Trilogy and the Lux series. Such good books! I was so addicted them when I read them back in 2014. I love trashy YA. I kinda consider everything Jennifer L Armentrout books as trashy YA. You should pick up the Covenant series by her- it's really like Vampire Academy!
Aideen G I love JLA. she is my favourite author, because I always feel so warm and fuzzy after reading her books and that's how I want to feel when i finish books!!!! also her NA books are really fun too :)
Wasn't sure how to class it before but daughter of smoke and bone is my absolute fav trashy ya and if you havnt read it do go check it out. I really love how it pulls together the similaritys there are in good and bad and how just because someone is 'good' it doesn't mean they do good things.

I work at a book store and the selection is definitely my go to trashy recommendation. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I was so hoping it would be on this list and was very happy when you held it up
I LOVED "Heartless" I too listened to it on audiobook. It was amazing on audiobook. I just started Cinder because of Heartless. I'm twenty pages in to Cinder and I feel like I'm going to love it equally as much as Heartless.
I love falling kindgoms. Even though the books are so poorly written, characters are so annoying, and everyone dies for no reason, I still love them because they're so fun and addicting. (Also, cleo is awesome).
I love it when people know that books aren't the greatest, but still love them. No matter what they say, if you are having fun, they are worth your time and energy
Stephanie Perkins newest book is supposed to come out this fall and I'm pretty sure it's a horror/teen slasher book from what I've seen online. Really excited to see something so different from her!
Selection series a seriously the first thing I think of when I think of trashy YA. But they got me into reading so I will always have a special place in my heart for them.
I just finished rereading Breaking Dawn and I was expecting to be disappointed by the end, but it just made me remember how much I loved happy endings when I read Twilight! (also divergent definitely has its trashy moments and I love it in that book too)
The selection ❤ I read it at 13/14 and i shall say that I adored it ! I didn't really read books before and this trilogy was the cause that made me read ! I really love it, it'll always occupy a little space in my heart ❤
I would've said the Pretty Little Liar series by Sara Shapard. No, not the TV show, but the books. The show is so totally different than the books, and I don't like that, so I stopped watching after season 3. I would have to say that anything by Sara Shepard, really, is on my "trashy YA" list, though. She always writes the cliches with a twist. But I don't care, and that's what I come for! xD
Ahh yes, the selection series. I read a book a day and I can’t even explain to you how frustrated I was with America but I still pulled for her and Maxon. Soooo good. It also is kind of sentimental for me because it marked a growth in my reading taste. It sparked an interest in me for more dystopian novels and such. The selection series will definitely always be on the top of my list.
Ohmygosh, couldn't agree more with Vampire Academy and Bloodlines!! Both of those are very high on my favourites list and I could never put them down either! I'm also looking at your multiple collections of Mortal Instruments and I'm very jealous!
I just finished the first Vampire Academy book, and I loved it! I was so annoyed with basically all of the characters in the beginning, and it was very teenage-angsty with lots of drama, but it was still so entertaining, and the plot reminded me of TMI so I couldn't help but love it!
I'd say TMI is pretty trashy. Sure the story is well-developed and interesting, but the focus is on the romance between Clary and Jace and their stupid decisions. Don't get me wrong, I love TMI, but they're still pretty trashy. Makes me wonder if there's "trashy" stuff targeted at dudes. The stuff you've mentioned on this list has never interested me (though tbh I'm only interested in romance stories if they're gay), and I doubt many guys would consider them. Maybe _Ready Player One_? Haven't read it but I've heard that it like glorifies the male gamer types.
Karkat Vantas I personally loved RPO and I know many guys that liked it, but I've never thought about it that way! and I totally get why you'd say TMI is Trashy XD
"if a YA novel doesn't have stupid teenagers who make stupid decisions is it really YA?" lololol this is so true i cant
abookishfairytale I mean, it's basically a summary of the genre as a whole XD
Ohh The Selection... the hours of me being mad at America for being stupid, but I still love her.

I totally agree about the selection. I am currently reading the series and I am addicted.
OKAY IM SO IN FOR TRASHY YAs
ALSO, LOVE THE BACKGROUND AND YOUR!! MAKE-UP!!
thank you so much!
I am forever obsessed with that bookshelf
Reread the selection recently and just 😍
Ellie Shuert AH I NEED A REREAD
LOVE your channel!!! and you sound so happy talking about these books! also, 100% agree with vampire academy and bloodlines, two of my fave series!!!
I just finished rereading Breaking Dawn and I was expecting to be disappointed by the end, but it just made me remember how much I loved happy endings when I read Twilight! (also divergent definitely has its trashy moments and I love it in that book too)
Empty Inkpots I didn't like the ending of breaking dawn, I think Bella should be doing something and not only standing with her shield
I totally agree with you on the selection. Those books were so adictive you couldn't put them down!!
Twilight will always be my fave ❤
always
Same..... It owns my heart
The selection ❤ I read it at 13/14 and i shall say that I adored it ! I didn't really read books before and this trilogy was the cause that made me read ! I really love it, it'll always occupy a little space in my heart ❤
I'm pretty new to your channel but omg in every video I'm taken aback by how pretty you are!
my favourite part about this video is how happy you look talking about these books :)
Best trashy ya books: Vampire Academy and the Shadow Falls Series
Girl! Your makeup at 3:10 is SO PRETTY!
But I don't care, and that's what I come for! xD
I love watching videos like this for book suggestions.
I love love love these types of videos from you, I always just wanna pick up every book that you talk about
awh thanks so much! i'm glad to hear it :)
I want to novels like vampire academy because I lived friendship between Rose and Lissa
These are the best books to get out of a reading slump, thank you for these!
Stephanie Perkins is going to publish a horror novel!!!!!!! 😆😆😆
Dodo Pink omg I cannot wait to read
Ohmygosh, couldn't agree more with Vampire Academy and Bloodlines!! Both of those are very high on my favourites list and I could never put them down either! I'm also looking at your multiple collections of Mortal Instruments and I'm very jealous!
I would have called them YA crack. You literally can't stop reading them, but of course that title probably would have offended some ppl
I just finished the first Vampire Academy book, and I loved it! I was so annoyed with basically all of the characters in the beginning, and it was very teenage-angsty with lots of drama, but it was still so entertaining, and the plot reminded me of TMI so I couldn't help but love it!
Lux series.
L U X S E R I E S!!!
I love them 😍😍😍
Thx YOU FOR TALKING ABOUT VAMPIRE ACADEMY it’s so underrated and so far you’re the only UA-camr that has talked about VA. 😭😭😭😭😭
EXACTLY!
I needed this... Thank you...
Heartless made me cry
I loved this video!! And I love your personality, and how excited you were in this video!!
vampire Academy is my life ❤
Finally someone mentioning the greatness of Richelle Mead’s series! That woman is my hero
