Have you seen the new pro 1000? On lee's site, appears they basically turned it into a 6000 with half the die stations. Don't see any reviews yet, but would seemingly (hopefully lol) eliminate many of the fixes needed on the original pro 1000's.
Don't plan on upgrading, I like to torture myself with tinkering, perhaps this fix will help mine as well. I quite often have a case that hits the size/deprime die mouth, so I've got to be gentle or the case will be destroyed, which slows down the process. It's not a timing issue with the shellplate, its an inward or outward "cant" of the casing. Not at the press so can't recall which way, but it takes a nudge with a finger to get it to enter the die mouth. Almost like the die isn't beveled enough, but that doesn't seem like I'd be the only one with this issue then.
However the pro 6000 is sure tempting. For the price difference, if starting our, not sure why you'd even consider a press with three stations when six is an option for not a ton more $$

Hi Dan. Thanks so much for looking at my clip and for taking the time to write such a great and elaborate comment. Honestly I did try to get my hands on the 6000 before it was on the market but for a couple of issues related to shipment, that did not go well. I would say 6 is better than 3. I personally would love to have a powder level checker die on the 1000 but it is not an option. Price, one needs to look at the prices for needed parts on the Pro 6000. I think that changing from one caliber to another will be more expensive compared to the Pro 1000.
The issue you mention on the first station is also something that I encounter from day one. Few cases need the extra push before they are aligned to the die. After putting this modification and also modification No. 5 the issue has dramatically reduced. Actually modification No.5 alone would also do the job.
I might get another press, maybe the 6000 but the 1000 is something I might never manage to let go. I know all the issues now and love using it, same as what you have mentioned. If you find the time, have a look at the Mod.5 video or even better, view this one that I just uploaded with the detailed process for the .45ACP reloading on the Pro 1000. ua-cam.com/video/etEE3MgxAO0/v-deo.html
Thanks and have a great day.

Thanks for the thorough reply! If the floating sizer die fixes the issue, that would certainly be a huge help. I've got a few of these presses with all the parts for multiple calibers, so really, ~$400 for the 6000 is tough to swallow. I'm definitely going to have to consider the floating die idea.
I watched all your pro 1000 "fix" videos, one I didn't see addressed that maybe you have or have not seen...cases being fed "bouncing" as they come out of the case feeder and falling over, sometimes bouncing into the press itself.
Height adjustments havent eliminated this issue for me, do you have any ideas? Personally I think 3D printed inserts in the feed tube of the proper diameter might help by keeping the next casing in line more vertically oriented, instead of angled into the mouth of the case being fed.

@@danya822 Hi Dan, for the bouncing cases that is also an issue I had but the fix was just to increase a little the case ramp with a piece of plastic and some double sided tape. I personally did not do any video for it but I did see one that had a fantastic solution with a rubber band or a spring and something else. that system is 100% fixing the issue. I will update this chat if I find the exact link. Take care.

@@ReloadingMoreAD1966 I'd love to see the fix(es) if you find it or decide to do your own video! Edit: just found the APP case feed caliber specific insert/assemblies, if those fit the Pro 1000, I suspect it would cure all the issues.

Good morning Jeff. Did a couple of changes this year on the press just to get a little more out of it. Take care and have a great week. 👍👍

Someone said yes there may be some wiggle, but it is consistent, and once your dies are set, it won’t make a difference because the gap is the same with each stroke. Makes sense

Good morning Len. What you say is absolutely correct. I have operated the press without this additional modification for few years and had no issue. The modification you see here in conjunction with one coming up tomorrow increased the consistence even more and in addition, it reduced significantly an issue I had with the case not always coming up in line with the sizing die.
Take a look also at other alteration videos i have for the Lee Pro 1000. you might find something of interest. Take care, thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Thanks Mike. This modification with the next one in line increased the consistency of rounds and more importantly, reduced the misalignment at the sizing stage. Take care and have a great week.👍👍

Good morning Joe. My good friend has one Dillon 650 equipped with Armanov tool head and float rings. I got the idea from him. Just loaded 500 .45ACP rounds with no issue what so ever with except of one primer getting destroyed and it was my fault not the press. Take care and thanks for you comment.
