Bowie's best rendition of Fame. Doubters (of how great Bowie was) should compare the original, the version he did with Queen Latifah (1990), the version he did at the BBC (2000) and this. He constantly reworked his own songs and enjoyed covers by others -- like all great music, they have an open structure. People will be performing and playing with them for centuries and longer.
+mnjam this was year 2002, he was living hard and fast, near his financial peak I think and he sort of just hit the wall, probably too much cocaine, and in 2004 had a heart operation. I think he just burned too bright for this couple of years and then his decline began stemming from probably this very day, this peak of health and prosperity. He would have been about 55 here. Either that or he just inspired too much jealousy and it slowly killed him, not sure, maybe a combination of all of these. He really had it all here, health, power, knowledge, connections, and unreal fan support. How could he let it burn him like that? what was it which drove him too far?
I actually think Bowie's little intro speech at the beginning was great! But then again... I can listen to David read a grocery list and still think it's genius! Bowie is amazing as always!
Plastic Soul plus Rubber Soul equals No.1 monster tune! Literally. At the time it hit, big, I didn't know of John's participation in it. Found out a bit later and loved it even more,(if possible). Killer rendition.....Crank up da funk!
If only I was more older and have get the opportunity to be present at this live, I would ask him to sing for me “I’ll take you there” I freaking love this song or “the prettiest star” ❤️ rock in peace David ⚡️
Bowie is greatness but then again, so was the cat with the idea, title, vocals and guitar for this classic. ... Lennon was given a co-writing credit due to the lyrics (bemoaning the nature of celebrity) being inspired by conversations he had with Bowie on the subject, and because Bowie acknowledged that Lennon singing "Fame!" over Alomars guitar riff was the catalyst for the song. The songwriting credit list order is David Bowie, Carlos Alomar, and John Lennon.
The other guys may be givin credit ( which they deserved!) but David Bowie really knows how to perform it. I don't think the song writers should get as much credit as the singer unless it was their song to begin with. Bowie should get most of the credit for this.
RIP David Bowie, FAME is one of my favorite songs, thank you for all the great music you will missed like all the greats 😞🎤🎵🎶🎷

Lord David.
I could listen to him read a phonebook and think he was reading a poem. Lol. I love his voice. I always try to do it but it doesn't work. lol.
Her is David Bowie
The nice thing is he can still hit the notes as in his original versions. Others have to lower their voices like McCartney for example.
Does anyone know if they've made a CD out of this performance?
god
Think it's Dennis Davis (not sure).
