    You also need to make sure to avoid extremes of temperature and humidity, but the most important thing is to keep them well away from magnetic fields; so don't store them next to your speakers.

    For my cassette collection, I use a combination of vintage storage drawers/cases, and simply stacking them next to each other along wall mounted shelves. One question .. Aren't cassettes supposed to be stored vertically to prevent warping and distortion? I've heard this advice a few times.

    How about storing them in a shoebox big enough for work boots/safety shoes. I’d recommend getting one that’s already attached to the box. Good enough for someone that doesn’t have a lot of cassettes. If you have enough for a second size, get one that the size or close to the side of the first one. Ideal to stack them. I’d be careful should you dare to try more than two. But the ideal one to use if you’d rather spend some money on, would be the rack that holds 100 cassettes. Make sure it’s good enough when you mount it using big nails that are able to hold the rack in place. But make sure you do it before you load the cassettes! 🤣 Now what wasn’t mentioned was price. These ain’t cheap as they range from $40 up to around $120. But it’s a wise investment and good suggestion by vinyleyezz!

    The last people growing up with cassettes are growing old, and as we know, nostalgia weighs heavily. Why not!? But I also think people should think about a scenario when internet connection isn't available. Just like power, you can get disconnected. And who knows what the future holds. So why not have your favorite music on a physical format. Or at least a local server ;)

      I'm mid 30s and cassettes def was the most accessible format growing up in the 90s, but its def a minus not buying any physical media any longer. I could've filled several walls at home with cool stuff with what I've payed for Spotify the past decade. Albums used to have their own 'feel' but now its like spitting out gum

    The MOST IMPORTANT point was missed. Wherever or however you choose to store your tapes, never leave them near anything magnetic. If you carry anything around that has some type of a magnet, you need to get rid of it completely if you're gonna have cassettes in your life. Everyday example: A simple badge holder for a Company ID card...put that anywhere near a cassette and bam...there goes 40 years worth of memories. Same goes for cell phone chargers. Magnets are everywhere in our daily lives, unlike before and it's really something to be consciously aware of. In the 80s, magnets were either on the fridge or in the garage.

    Cassettes main advantages prior to the MP3 and streaming eras of music were their portability for personal use or for listening them during trips on vehicles or walkman, and the cheaper prices that compensated their inferior sound quality.
    But since all of that became obsolete in the 2000s decade, they're only worth for albums from the 80s and 90s never released on CD or vinyl, or that had never been reissued on those formats ever since their original runs and thus are so rare and expensive to the point that a cassette version is the only cheap and affordable option to get them.
    Cassette revivals had been tried over and over since the 2000s when the format died but none of them had truly succedeed in order to at least make them relevant once again.

    What's the best way to store the tape ribbons outside of a shell? Unfortunately I don't have another empty shell to put it into.

    Cassette tapes look really cool, but they're an awful audio format. Sometimes you're listening to side A and you can hear side B backwards in the background. You can also hear hissing and other annoying noises. Tapes get moldy and get stuck in the player. They get demagnetized. It makes no sense to me that some albums are getting released on cassette but not on CD. I still keep many cassette tapes because of their cool covers, but I never listen to them.

    I always enjoy watching your content, but Cassettes are one of the worst formats of all time. I grew up listening to Cassettes until I was around 12 years old, and I don't think I have one positive memory relating to the format. The cases were garbage, the sound was unreliable (especially after a lot of plays), and the tape would frequently fail beyond repair. I totally understand why people are drawn to physical media, especially vinyl records, but I will never be on board with a cassette revival. Cassettes are literal trash.

      Could't agree more, i don't understand the hype at all. Another down side is that it hast mostly no booklet at all and the cover is even smaller than a CD Cover. There is just no real benefit imo except maybe that ist doesen't take up that much space but thats it.

    • @ReedsRedactions
      @ReedsRedactions 11 місяців тому +1

      @@slayerabyss6664 Another flaw is trying to find a song and having to keep fast-forwarding or rewinding the tape to cue it up. It was so annoying. I feel the same way about VHS tapes. Both are equally garbage.
