THE DUVET; I believe that “once you’ve opened it there’s no turning back” is meant as when you open it, the duvet will fill up with air, when you leave it out, so it will become thick and warm as the one you’ve tried. They suck all of the air out of the duvets when packing it.
Duvets usually are flatter when you first open them and they puff up after a week or so! I was the same with mine I bought one for £40 and thought it was thin at first but now it’s nice 🥰 xx
The brackets for curtain poles are usually in 2 parts. One is the bit that screws to the wall, and the other is the part that holds the rod. Usually, there is a tiny screw on the side that holds the two together. Undo that and the two parts should come apart. Then you can remove the (usually 3) screws that hold the bracket to the wall to remove it. If the screw and its plug are coming out of the wall, then you'll need to get some interior filler to plug up the hole. When it has set hard, drill a new hole for a new plug. You can usually pull the decorative end part off the rod as well (but it might also be held on with a screw) That allows you to feed the rod out of the brackets so you can change the curtains.
I had a similar experience but I also needed to use cavity wall plugs not the brick plugs that were on my curtain supports when I moved in to my new ish build flat it needs the spreading bits to make it more secure in the wall
Going through all these struggles myself moving into & decorating my new house. So nice to see other people struggle over curtain rails, diy etc. As you said, everybody starts somewhere! :-) room looks great!

The Duvet has been vacuum packed so it needs time to "fluff up" The Curtail rail...the screws are hidden by the metal cover, which should come off when you rotate it...that's the same curtain rail we have😊 Happy New Year🎉
Audio books for the migraine win! You aren’t missing out on the visual, you can easily set sleep timers in case you listen to fall asleep, and you feel accomplished when you finish a book. I get light sensitivity too and audio books save me!
It might be worth switching the plant hangers over so that the ikea one is on your left. Mainly because of where your door is and the way you walk in, it's the first one you see and your eye will br drawn to it. The other one is a secondary thing and unless you're standing by the window looking over you won't notice that it isn't as cute!
@@jazzybvlogs I'm like that too, what I've got above my bed is some paper sculpture art so if it falls down, it's not going to hurt! (I had a traumatic experience as a kid when a mental bar above my bed fell on my face so now I don't have anything (apart from paper 😁))

Then you can unscrew the finial (ball at the end) to remove the curtains. Don't worry about the fixings on the wall. They often come loose. If you just attend to the rod you will be fine! We live in a new build and have had the same problem! For the screws and the plug in the wall I would suggest some wet plaster. Usually you can buy a tube of it. Put some in the wall and then put in the plug. When it is dry you can re screw the curtain rod.
I would definitely use the watching plant hangers. The color of the twine brings the color of the curtain rod into the room. Also, almost always buy curtains that are larger than your window as to make your window look bigger. You must be a very cold sleeper cuz a duvet thicker than that would fry most people. Lol

It was a rough holiday and we're fortunately finally starting to move on and get back to our normally scheduled lives!! Sorry your New Years was spent with a migraine!! I can totally relate on the migraines. I get them and I have sensitivity to light, sound, sometimes I get blurred vision and nausea. Any strong smell can trigger a migraine for me. Hope you have a very happy new year.
Your bed looks super cute, makes me wish mine looked like that. 😂 I worked for a bed and breakfast and my husband is former military. We both agree that it’s too much work to make the bed everyday. We make the bed once a week when we switch the sheets and when we expect guests.
The room looks lovely Jazz......and I agree with another suggestion on here to switch the planters around so that the pretty one is the one you see coming in the door. As for migraines, they are demons from the pits of hell....particularly when you live in Australia and it is 42.8 degrees C on Christmas Day........because I always wanted to spend Christmas Day in bed trying not to move...... Mine is a complete disaster at the moment & I want to switch up the paint & stuff but we've been working on other parts of the house too so I'm trying to do one room at a time. I'm so bad to start 10 different projects at once & be all over the place. Mrs. ADD here 😂 I get migraines too & they're horrible! I've been on daily medication for them for several years now. It's helped a lot. Sorry you had a migraine like that & had to sleep on the couch.

Spent my new years crying on the balcony with a bucket beacuse i feelt sooo sick but i wanted so bad to watch the fireworks outside. Ended up watching them then haning over the toilet for over an hour and a halvt😅😅 had a really nice dinner before that buuut yeah. Atleast got to speend it with the person i love. And i loooove how the room turned out😍
If you can’t return the duvet, try getting a weight blanket to add warmth and comfort! I recently got one that looks like a giant chunky knit blanket from Nuzzie and it’s sooo comforting :)
Jazz I would have kept the duvet & added a light blanket for extra warmth plus with two in a bed you will be snuggly & warm! The room looks great! Well done!!

The bedroom looks lovely well done. I didn't enjoy Christmas or New Year's.. I spent most of it crying. First one without my Mum she passed last year... So wasn't in the mood to celebrate it.
I get those kind of migraines too especially from chemical sensitivities. I’ve found that tablets don’t seem to help much but I lie in the dark with an ice packs on rotation listening to an audio book that I only use when I have a migraine or try to sleep it off. The cold and lying down help the most but it’s very boring so having an audiobook helps me relax enough to try to sleep through it. My worst I used about eight ice packs to get me through it.
I lovvvve the dark blue. We painted our feature wall dark blue and went for pale grey other walls. Such a good accent colour! Definitely leave the curtains for now, don't want to yank it and have a chunk of plaster to clean up! We rang in the new year playing switch games with a friend and his brother, nearly missed the clock go midnight 😅 And for everyone stressing over the title, go look at Jaz's insta stories

I’ve watched a few of your home redecorating blogs and I have to say and I mean this in a nice way… you always make me laugh! Nothing seems to ever work out, you always accuse buy the wrong things, can’t get things up or to work, or you always buy one of something to see if you like it and then go back and they don’t have another. I feel so bad when things don’t work out for you but also it makes me giggle! My husband and I are redecorating our house and we haven’t had nearly as much Trouble or bad luck that you have but you just laugh and stay positive through it all!

It feels like she avoids his name the entire video. Sticks with “our last place” she says half the drawers are empty. “I’ll” be cold at night, not “we’ll” be cold. She’ll wait for advice when the video goes up and doesn’t mention asking Nick at all. And just over all it felt to me like her smile wasn’t reaching her eyes, especially there at the end. She smiles with her mouth but not her eyes. I pray I’m wrong.

The curtain rail should have tiny little screws that you loosen with a Allen key and then the pole should lift up. The ends will also probably have a tiny screws that need to be undone with an Allen key x
First things the duvet was plastic wrapped so it will get fluffier if you let it air and second a good duvet will be warm even if it is thinner. My son has an all weather duvet that feels super thin
So sorry. I’ve had migraines since I was a teenager and I’m 53 now. 😕. However, if you can get a CEFALY device it is the BEST. Like a tens unit for your Head. Works wonders.
I get scent and food triggered migraines, hormonal migraines, there are so many things that I never thought about that would cause mine, I learned that wall paper like that can be very strong and needs to offgas for a while. Does look nice though! Good work. I've heard those snake plants are good at helping purify the air. Maybe check them out, I'm going to when we move into our house.

You could still change the curtains. Have nick hold the middle of the rod in place while you unscrew the end cap, that’s where you pull the curtain off and put it on anyway. You won’t need to take the rod down at all. It should unscrew from both sides for you. Love watching!
I had a really bad bout of sinusitis a couple of years ago which came with a banging headache, plus light and sound sensitivity. I couldn’t read, watch to, listen to the radio, or do anything else to entertain myself. I ended up just laying in a darkened room for about a week completely alone. 😭😭😭
I was curious if you found your bracelet that you thought you lost on vacation I watched your vlog during your packing and ready to go. I saw your bracelet in the beginning of the video but not on your wrist when you left and when you were in the airport it was not on your wrist I would think it would be in your car or somewhere in the apartment. I saw while you were packing check in the crevices in your suit cases. Love your vlogs
The plugs coming out was an issue I had when I moved too basically there are different plugs for different walls mine as a newish build were cavity walls and they’d used the ones for solid brick walls I picked up the right ones for £2 in b&q and my dad helped me reinstall the curtain rods. The invisible screw things were on mine too I had a metal plate to screw in to the wall and then the pole support attached on to the metal plate takes some fiddling without instructions but I’m sure you’d figure it out. Your wall didn’t look as badly damaged as mine but if you have trouble try using a fatter screw the plugs pulling out makes the hole wider so I needed to compensate. Hope this helps
I don’t think you will read this, but what helps me when i have a headache/migraine and i can’t stand any light. I change settings of my tv to screen light very veryyy low. So you can still watch tv in the dark but not with the brightness, i put the brightness way wayy down until it’s almost not visible anymore. But hey i can still watch harry potter and it doesn’t make my head pound.

I spent new years waxing my brothers eyebrows off!!! He does a charity stream every new year, to raise money for the SCBU that my little boy was looked after by. This year he raised a little over £1200!!
I always go by the motto "if i cant get it back in the box and make it look like it was never opened, we golden." In the US our duvets or bed covers (as i call it) are in bags, like big giant ass bags where you can see the color pattern all the things and see how fluffy or puffy they are. Maybe thats just an american thing. Our curtain rods, at least the ones ive had, are fitted into the frame of the window and yoy can just screw the rod itself to fit the size of the window. The bed looks cute, i like it. Happy New Year.

Migraines are the worst 😩 I absolutely understand the light sensitivity. Excedrin if you have it is the only thing that has ever worked for my migraines.

Curtains : there will be a cover for where the screw goes in. It will have a smaller screw or you will need to twist the cover off. The rod has come away because they haven't used the correct length screw and plug. Good luck xx
I have suffered from migraines since I was around 3-5 cant remember exactly. But I'm 15 now so a pretty long time. When I have a migraine something not all the time, my vision changes before the migraine actually hits. To explain more basically its like when you look at a light or the sun and look away and you see black dots everywhere and I can't see out of my peripheral vision. To get the migraine to go away I have to have 4 things or it wont go away. 1) Dark room 2) silent room 3) ice pack heat doesn't help 4) strong medication. Finally found medication that is actually helping me though!
Oh Jaz I love this whole incident with your doona. In Australia we pay anywhere between $200-$400 (106-212 pounds) for a quality doona. That also doesn’t include that normally you use different doona’s depending on the season 😆😂
For the record, I’m fairly certain that there is a large percentage of us who could totally just watch you vent for 20 minutes lol 💙

If you throw the duvet in the dryer for 15 minutes it should fluff the duvet up to a larger thickness. Just an idea if they do not take it back!

I feel so bad when things don’t work out for you but also it makes me giggle! My husband and I are redecorating our house and we haven’t had nearly as much Trouble or bad luck that you have but you just laugh and stay positive through it all!
I think the nick leaving is more like he’s gone back to work after the holidays, people take things so literal theese days lol, bedroom looks great Jaz, the hanging baskets are really cute, and I’m impressed with the wallpapering skills, I couldn’t wallpaper to save my life 😂 happy 2022 😘

@@ashg2895 no, that’s how I felt too, she’s one who would do a cheeky title like “Boyfriend on Holiday Redecorating our room to surprise him” or something like that. It feels like she avoids his name the entire video. Sticks with “our last place” she says half the drawers are empty. “I’ll” be cold at night, not “we’ll” be cold. She’ll wait for advice when the video goes up and doesn’t mention asking Nick at all. And just over all it felt to me like her smile wasn’t reaching her eyes, especially there at the end. She smiles with her mouth but not her eyes.

The curtain rail should have tiny little screws that you loosen with a Allen key and then the pole should lift up. The ends will also probably have a tiny screws that need to be undone with an Allen key x

Duvet covers are awesome, lots of nice ones, and protect the duvet. Also wash the cover more often, and the duvet less often.
First things the duvet was plastic wrapped so it will get fluffier if you let it air and second a good duvet will be warm even if it is thinner. My son has an all weather duvet that feels super thin

So sorry. I’ve had migraines since I was a teenager and I’m 53 now. 😕. However, if you can get a CEFALY device it is the BEST. Like a tens unit for your Head. Works wonders.

I get scent and food triggered migraines, hormonal migraines, there are so many things that I never thought about that would cause mine, I learned that wall paper like that can be very strong and needs to offgas for a while. Does look nice though! Good work. I've heard those snake plants are good at helping purify the air. Maybe check them out, I'm going to when we move into our house.
Use it on the bottom and put sheet over it, will be like sleeping on a cloud xxxx

You could still change the curtains. Have nick hold the middle of the rod in place while you unscrew the end cap, that’s where you pull the curtain off and put it on anyway. You won’t need to take the rod down at all. It should unscrew from both sides for you. Love watching!

I had a really bad bout of sinusitis a couple of years ago which came with a banging headache, plus light and sound sensitivity. I couldn’t read, watch to, listen to the radio, or do anything else to entertain myself. I ended up just laying in a darkened room for about a week completely alone. 😭😭😭
I was curious if you found your bracelet that you thought you lost on vacation I watched your vlog during your packing and ready to go. I saw your bracelet in the beginning of the video but not on your wrist when you left and when you were in the airport it was not on your wrist I would think it would be in your car or somewhere in the apartment. I saw while you were packing check in the crevices in your suit cases. Love your vlogs
The plugs coming out was an issue I had when I moved too basically there are different plugs for different walls mine as a newish build were cavity walls and they’d used the ones for solid brick walls I picked up the right ones for £2 in b&q and my dad helped me reinstall the curtain rods. The invisible screw things were on mine too I had a metal plate to screw in to the wall and then the pole support attached on to the metal plate takes some fiddling without instructions but I’m sure you’d figure it out. Your wall didn’t look as badly damaged as mine but if you have trouble try using a fatter screw the plugs pulling out makes the hole wider so I needed to compensate.

I don’t think you will read this, but what helps me when i have a headache/migraine and i can’t stand any light. I change settings of my tv to screen light very veryyy low. So you can still watch tv in the dark but not with the brightness, i put the brightness way wayy down until it’s almost not visible anymore. But hey i can still watch harry potter and it doesn’t make my head pound.
They have not broken up on her instergram they are still together and going strong xx

I spent new years waxing my brothers eyebrows off!!! He does a charity stream every new year, to raise money for the SCBU that my little boy was looked after by. This year he raised a little over £1200!!
Also mustard and navy totally go together so I would get a mustard cushion for the bed and it would all match the original curtains :)
I always go by the motto "if i cant get it back in the box and make it look like it was never opened, we golden." In the US our duvets or bed covers (as i call it) are in bags, like big giant ass bags where you can see the color pattern all the things and see how fluffy or puffy they are. Maybe thats just an american thing. Our curtain rods, at least the ones ive had, are fitted into the frame of the window and yoy can just screw the rod itself to fit the size of the window. The bed looks cute, i like it. Happy New Year.

Migraines are the worst 😩 I absolutely understand the light sensitivity. Excedrin if you have it is the only thing that has ever worked for my migraines.

Curtains : there will be a cover for where the screw goes in. It will have a smaller screw or you will need to twist the cover off.
The rod has come away because they haven't used the correct length screw and plug.

I have suffered from migraines since I was around 3-5 cant remember exactly. But I'm 15 now so a pretty long time. When I have a migraine something not all the time, my vision changes before the migraine actually hits. To explain more basically its like when you look at a light or the sun and look away and you see black dots everywhere and I can't see out of my peripheral vision. To get the migraine to go away I have to have 4 things or it wont go away. 1) Dark room 2) silent room 3) ice pack heat doesn't help 4) strong medication. Finally found medication that is actually helping me though!

Oh Jaz I love this whole incident with your doona. In Australia we pay anywhere between $200-$400 (106-212 pounds) for a quality doona. That also doesn’t include that normally you use different doona’s depending on the season 😆😂
