Agree, i found their reaction to this quite irritating, to be honest. He's neither praising them, nor is he romanticizes them in any way. The way they reactes really felt to me like a cheap attempt at elevating themselves above history, what shining beacons of morals.

I genuinely don't get what's so wrong about this... Is it so bad to know history?
it's not that there's an actual issue, it's that streamers avoid talking about controversial subjects for fear of backlash from viewers + advertisers. There's nothing wrong with knowing history but people can have incredibly irrational responses to even mentions of politics, so streamers tend to be really careful. That said, I do think it was funny and that Toast should try to do this again, I'm just trying to give an actual explanation as to why the streamers are really hesitant.

I live in the US and even I knew Benito Mussolini wasn't a figure head for the Nazis party. He actually inspired Hitler, and was well liked by both the fascist party and the wider public in Italy.

Just here to say toast ... Bunito Mussolini did not rule as a puppet of the nazi regime, while later on this could be argued, most of his reing was as the firts fascist dictator of Europe, he was not a puppet.
This opinion was popularized because between what was going on with Nazi Germany, Imperialist Japan, and Stalinist Russia... unfortunately Fascist Italy wasn't racking up the same death-torture numbers. So it made Italy seem "weaker" to the more chronically online history buffs.
Of course, the reality of it is that trying to compare them at all is massively missing the point. Edit: The point which of course is "don't fucking do any of that shit".
Yeah, I caught this too, because I literally just read about Mussolini's demise, and he was definitely more beholden to the Italian state, so it was his opposition to the German pressure that was a major factor in his fall.

If you ever make a sequel you could put "Francisco Franco", spanish dictator (1939-1975) or "Primo de Rivera", also a spanish dictator (1923-1930) or even Bereguer, yet another spanish dictator (1930-1931), though this one wasn't taken very seriously, calling his dictatorship "Dictablanda", which is a mix of dictatorship and soft in spanish (Dictadura + Blanda)
