I see all these comments about the things that this remind people of, and how this is creepy and such... Honestly, I think it's just an alternate dimension to the Little Red Riding Hood. One in which the wolf fell in love with the girl but could only escort her and leave. After all, it's the "Big Bad Wolf" we are talking about. I find this song really beautiful and sad, it's like a tragic AU to the story.
The original red riding hood is supposed to be a cautionary tale in "no means no" with the red cape representing the veil or aura of lust and the wolf representing the lover or sexual predator.
I think the story in this song is symbolic more so. Like the wolf is the dangerous man, but he's pretending not to be because he doesn't want to be dangerous to her. He wants to protect and love her despite his harmful habits. So he stays like a sheep because if she finds out who he truly is she'll be scared and reject him. So for now he's winning her trust so in the future he won't need to hide. She'll love him for him and trust he won't hurt her.
Naya Ford Well the band Sam and the shams, is the original band to sing this in 1960, sung it more playful. Kind of cat-calling, but different. Then when sung by Amanda she makes it seem more like those men who pretend to be such a nice guy to compliment you, but their intention is to take you home for the night only. Offering to walk you home, compliments, how it’s dangerous to walk alone, that he may look like a “wolf” or act like one, but he is still good... her singing about her experience and telling the audience what this guy, who lied, had said to her to get in her pants. Or maybe even making her fall for him. :) “maybe you’ll see things my way. Fore we get to grandmas place.” “I’m going to keep my sheep suit on, til I’m sure that you’ve been shown, that I can be trusted walking with you alone.” He is putting on an “act” until she trusts him.
Naya Ford a song I grew up with when I was a child my dad taught me this song when I was about eight on the guitar even taught my daughter when she was about eight now she plays it on her ukulele
Personally, the song resonates with a monster like me, since I can love, and could devote myself to one person so much that I would do anything to protect them. or even just to make them happy. Even if I could just walk by their side. Now I know I'm a monster because, for a single smile on the face of the ones I love, I could help a thousand people, or slaughter them. And there is no god or devil, that could protect anyone that would try to hurt them, and especially not if they succeed. One comment from the wolfs side of the fence.
@@JMS-2111 the one(s) who you're trying to protect from your own monster, if they truly love you, even when they're scared of your darkness still but they will love you anyway because that monster is a part of you as well. I actually imagine this is how some relationships work. A person will have done/do things they regret or are considered bad, and they want to keep that from the person they love for a little while so they don't scare them off. Eventually they show that they're not who they seem on the surface, but they never actually lied. They just kept some things hidden until they were sure their love would always stick by their side, no matter what.
Everyone’s talking about the fairytale Red Roding Hood and Big Bad Wolf. Did no one think about this song in modern times. Like Red Riding Hood Being just a woman on her way home through the city during nighttime and the Big Bad Wolf as just someone who fell in love with her and feel lust? Like he would walk her home while singing about how much he craved her? The wolf metaphor stands for the men, Red Riding Hood a woman heading home, Grandmas Place Being her house.
Kenya Williams True. Because when it came to red riding hood the story was half teaching about dangers of actual wolves but the other half was about dangerous men(not saying men are dangerous but that was a time period with bandits and robbers all the time)
that's exactly what i thought for god's sake! like she's walking alone at night and then the "big bad wolf" who's actually a rapist tries to maybe later force himself on her

Very inspirational for my "Little Red Riding Hood" adaptation. You gotta love the original song, but this version is so somber and sweet that it puts the wolf into a more sympathetic light. I'd almost think that it's a child speaking to a crush.
This song leaves opening for a lot of different public perception. This could be a bad guy, yet it could also be someone who is just misunderstood. Misunderstood by most, except little red riding hood is the only one who understands him, understands his true intentions. How he devotes his life to protect those he loves, yet the public percieves him to be this big bad violent wolf. Yet he is only ever a 'wolf' if he feels himself or his loved ones are im danger. Leave him and his loved ones alone, and all is good?

Friendly.....Or sexual?
Well it depends honestly lol, coming from how he wants to hold her... lol I love the Big Bad Wolf but he kinda reminds me of a pedophile...
april mullady The lyrics "...little big girl..." always came across to me as implying a (possibly vulnerable, given the "spooky woods") young adult woman.
april mullady it can't be a peso maybe creepy guy com in for u but its a little big girl i don't know
Yes
Depends which version you listen to. Sam and the shams, the original band to sing this in 1960, sung it more playful. :)
Lovely voice.
Even bad wolves can be good
