I see all these comments about the things that this remind people of, and how this is creepy and such... Honestly, I think it's just an alternate dimension to the Little Red Riding Hood. One in which the wolf fell in love with the girl but could only escort her and leave. After all, it's the "Big Bad Wolf" we are talking about. I find this song really beautiful and sad, it's like a tragic AU to the story.
The original red riding hood is supposed to be a cautionary tale in "no means no" with the red cape representing the veil or aura of lust and the wolf representing the lover or sexual predator.
I think the story in this song is symbolic more so. Like the wolf is the dangerous man, but he's pretending not to be because he doesn't want to be dangerous to her. He wants to protect and love her despite his harmful habits. So he stays like a sheep because if she finds out who he truly is she'll be scared and reject him. So for now he's winning her trust so in the future he won't need to hide. She'll love him for him and trust he won't hurt her.
Naya Ford Well the band Sam and the shams, is the original band to sing this in 1960, sung it more playful. Kind of cat-calling, but different. Then when sung by Amanda she makes it seem more like those men who pretend to be such a nice guy to compliment you, but their intention is to take you home for the night only. Offering to walk you home, compliments, how it’s dangerous to walk alone, that he may look like a “wolf” or act like one, but he is still good... her singing about her experience and telling the audience what this guy, who lied, had said to her to get in her pants. Or maybe even making her fall for him. :) “maybe you’ll see things my way. Fore we get to grandmas place.” “I’m going to keep my sheep suit on, til I’m sure that you’ve been shown, that I can be trusted walking with you alone.” He is putting on an “act” until she trusts him.
Naya Ford a song I grew up with when I was a child my dad taught me this song when I was about eight on the guitar even taught my daughter when she was about eight now she plays it on her ukulele
Personally, the song resonates with a monster like me, since I can love, and could devote myself to one person so much that I would do anything to protect them. or even just to make them happy. Even if I could just walk by their side. Now I know I'm a monster because, for a single smile on the face of the ones I love, I could help a thousand people, or slaughter them. And there is no god or devil, that could protect anyone that would try to hurt them, and especially not if they succeed. One comment from the wolfs side of the fence.
@@JMS-2111 the one(s) who you're trying to protect from your own monster, if they truly love you, even when they're scared of your darkness still but they will love you anyway because that monster is a part of you as well. Oh my goodness! Amanda's voice is so alluring and so beautiful. So enchanting, even. I never would have imagined that she would be so talented as a vocalist. I am hopelessly smitten.
I actually imagine this is how some relationships work. A person will have done/do things they regret or are considered bad, and they want to keep that from the person they love for a little while so they don't scare them off. Eventually they show that they're not who they seem on the surface, but they never actually lied. They just kept some things hidden until they were sure their love would always stick by their side, no matter what.
Everyone’s talking about the fairytale Red Roding Hood and Big Bad Wolf. Did no one think about this song in modern times. Like Red Riding Hood Being just a woman on her way home through the city during nighttime and the Big Bad Wolf as just someone who fell in love with her and feel lust? Like he would walk her home while singing about how much he craved her? The wolf metaphor stands for the men, Red Riding Hood a woman heading home, Grandmas Place Being her house.
Kenya Williams True. Because when it came to red riding hood the story was half teaching about dangers of actual wolves but the other half was about dangerous men(not saying men are dangerous but that was a time period with bandits and robbers all the time)
that's exactly what i thought for god's sake! like she's walking alone at night and then the "big bad wolf" who's actually a rapist tries to maybe later force himself on her
Very inspirational for my "Little Red Riding Hood" adaptation. You gotta love the original song, but this version is so somber and sweet that it puts the wolf into a more sympathetic light. I'd almost think that it's a child speaking to a crush.
Amanda also plays red riding hood in a movie where the wolf turns out to be her dad (a bad man therefore a bad wolf) he bites her boyfriend (a good man) when he comes to save her. They kill the dad but the bite turns her lover into a wolf also. He leaves to learn to control it so she's not in danger then comes back years later in wolf form and she smiles. Great movie.

love this song! I've been searching for some songs inspired by the fairytale Little red riding hood cause it's my favourite and I am completely satisfied :)
After hearing this song... I'm inspired to write a story where the big bad wolf changes to a wolf when angered but is usually just a person cloaked in black that wears a grey mask that resembles a wolf's face. I think I'll write it so that it's kind of like a beauty and the beast type of thing where the big bad wolf falls in love with the figurative 'little red riding hood' and it's like a romantic love story between them. So that for once the big bad wolf can get a good wrap in a story.
Update: I am starting to write the book and it's called "The Wolf's Mask" unless I get any better ideas. If anyone has any suggestions feel free to say!
I like to think this is about a lesbian who has feelings for her best friend but her friend doesn’t know she’s gay and she’s scared to tell her, but she sees herself as a predator or manipulative because she hasn’t told her
Just so everyone knows, the reason this story was made was to warn little girls from talking to strangers. So yes, the wolf in this story is very much a predator. Older versions of this story even include lines where the wolf demands red to take her cloths off.

KnightProphecy Although I do like this version better, the original was sung in a different tone. +aenjgeal You're spot on. Your interpretation of both versions is exactly right. But that's why the original (imo) is better. This is nice, but it's suppose to sound creepy. It's also a 60's sound that alot of people today don't really like.

Back when I was younger I loved this song so much, but now as a full grown adult and with all the stuff I've seen in the world I just can't un-hear it anymore. It's so dang wrong and I still sing every word 😂😂
I honestly see this as having a crush on your straight bestfriend who doesnt like gay people, if you get too close they might Think that you Are gay and therefore not be your friend anymore. In the "id like to hold you but you might Think i'm a Big bad wolf" part, she could be refering to the fact that she wants to get closer but not lose Their friendship. And the "ill just keep My sheep fur on, until i Can be trusted as a Big bad Wolf" part means that She'll just act like she's straight until her friend notices her gayness (is that even a word?)
am i the only one who thinks this song is creepy . like . how the kind wolf that's singing keeps complimenting little red riding hood and also those parts in the middle like 'i'd like to hold you if i could' and 'what a big heart i have, the better to love you with' and 'i try to keep satisfied, just to walk close by your side' . maybe it's just my imagination or interpretation but . i dunno . i think in the end the wolf's intentions are harmful .
i don't agree, i think its incredibly sweet. like the wolf is trying to be a byter person and wants to find love... and is afraid of being a big bad wolf again. lol.
+CloverHop If you listen to the original version of this song by Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs, it's very clear that the wolves intentions are of a more 'harmful' nature, based on how he emphasises his words, and how at the end he tries pretending he's a sheep to trick her. This definitely does not have the same tone. It's all about the musical style. But that said, those phrases you pointed out sound the way they do because initially that was exactly what it meant.
This version is completely different compared to when i first heard it on the movie cursed. In this version the singer's voice is so soft you would have a hard time decifering wether ir not the 'wolf' is actually protective or a predator stalking it's prey gently and quietly luring it. The version I heard was a rock cover more dangerous you could tell that the 'wolf' was out to do harm.
This song is really amazing~ I love it XD I only found it because of the book, Scarlet. And I have to say it fits one of the main characters perfectly~
I think this also a little bit about a guy being in love with a girl protecting her and helping her, her being completely obvious to the 'wolfs' feelings
I really wish that Amanda Seyfried will sing more songs, I really like her voice so beautiful to hear and very relaxing.

Hey there little red riding hood
You sure are looking good
You're everything a big bad wolf could want
Little red riding hood
I don't think little big girls should
Go walking in these spooky old woods alone
What big eyes you have
The kind of eyes that drive wolves mad
Just to see that you don't get chased
I think I oughta walk with you for a ways
What full lips you have
They're sure to lure someone bad
So until you get to Grandma's place
I think you oughta walk with me and be safe
Gonna keep my sheep suit on
'Til I'm sure that you've been shown
That I can be trusted walking with you alone
Little red riding hood
I'd like to hold you if I could
But you might think I'm a big bad wolf so I won't
What a big heart I have
The better to love you with
Little red riding hood
Even bad wolves can be good
I try to keep satisfied
Just to walk close by your side
Maybe you'll see things my way
'Fore we get to Grandma's place
Little red riding hood
You sure are looking good
You're everything a big bad wolf could want
Little red riding hood
I don't think little big girls should
Go walking in these spooky old woods alone
What big eyes you have
The kind of eyes that drive wolves mad
Just to see that you don't get chased
I think I oughta walk with you for a ways
What full lips you have
They're sure to lure someone bad
So until you get to Grandma's place
I think you oughta walk with me and be safe

Wolf x Scarlet from "Scarlet" by Merissa Meyer
+Awesomesauce24 yes that is exactly what i was thinking
I didn't even think of that until I saw this comment
I love this song. She has a sweet voice and it puts me in a comfortable mood. I love it!
Everyone over here talking about how the wolf is either good or bad.
The wolf is just a classic "nice guy". Maybe a "white knight" on a good day.
I actually love this and can’t stop
Wolf Among Us anybody?
Totally : D
Ohmigod yes
Bigby Wolf. Even ad wolfs can be good :)
YEAH!
***** hi!
puts a new twist on the old fairy tale. WHY ISNT THERE A TRIPLE LIKE BUTTON?!?!
There are so many versions of this song on iTunes though this one will always be the best to me
I love this one the most too! ♥it
Back when I was younger I loved this song so much, but now as a full grown adult and with all the stuff I've seen in the world I just can't un-hear it anymore. It's so dang wrong and I still sing every word 😂😂
To me, this is a sweet love story 😍
I can't get enough of this 😍
wolf is being tempted
Amanda Seyfried is amazing
I honestly see this as having a crush on your straight bestfriend who doesnt like gay people, if you get too close they might Think that you Are gay and therefore not be your friend anymore. In the "id like to hold you but you might Think i'm a Big bad wolf" part, she could be refering to the fact that she wants to get closer but not lose Their friendship. And the "ill just keep My sheep fur on, until i Can be trusted as a Big bad Wolf" part means that She'll just act like she's straight until her friend notices her gayness (is that even a word?)
I see your point-found this on a wlw playlist lmao
The wolf is a damn fox....let that sink in
I love the feel of this song.
am i the only one who thinks this song is creepy . like . how the kind wolf that's singing keeps complimenting little red riding hood and also those parts in the middle like 'i'd like to hold you if i could' and 'what a big heart i have, the better to love you with' and 'i try to keep satisfied, just to walk close by your side' . maybe it's just my imagination or interpretation but . i dunno . i think in the end the wolf's intentions are harmful .
i don't agree, i think its incredibly sweet. like the wolf is trying to be a byter person and wants to find love... and is afraid of being a big bad wolf again. lol.
I think that's the point and some parts seem kinda sweet
hOI!
But that said, those phrases you pointed out sound the way they do because initially that was exactly what it meant.
yeeeeeah, thank you for all seeing how creepy this song is.
There’s so much longing and tenderness in her version…
fits Wolf in Marissa Meyer's Scarlet perfectly.
+Peachy Bashan you need to be my friend
+Mother Murder we should be friends! :)
+Peachy Bashan yay.
im reading cress right now
You get me.
Yesss
I did not know about this song until I started playing Mafia 3 now I can't get enough of it
Sterek. That is all.
PRETCH IT. STEREK IS LIFE
STEREK 🙌
Sterek
Sterek all the way❤
Sterek 4 life ❤❤
I immediately went to the Trout Fishing in America version. "You're everything a big bad wolf could- THROW IT OUT THE WINDOW!" 😂
Best cover. Sam the Sham is still #1
This song is really amazing~ I love it XD I only found it because of the book, Scarlet. And I have to say it fits one of the main characters perfectly~
agreed :)
i absolutely without a doubt LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally understand why there’s so many Mean Girls references
I think that is a beautiful song
Once upon a time - Ruby ♥
Omg, yes!! :D
Ruby rose or Ruby from mobile legends?
Me
idk why but I love when a song ends on an arpegio
I think this also a little bit about a guy being in love with a girl protecting her and helping her, her being completely obvious to the 'wolfs' feelings
