45:31 the game has both high and low poly models. low poly models are used for the rendering of npcs and other players, and high poly models for the player. this mod only replaces the high poly model so the fact that the Mimic Tear is wearing the same set is irrelevant. you could make it work for the mimic tear by duplicating every .partsbnd.dcx file and renaming the end to _l.partsbnd.dcx (l for low poly model)

I actually liked the durability system in DS2. I actually had to worry about it rather than it just being a money sink. I actually broke one of my swords in the middle of fighting Sinh. One of my favorite gaming memories.

And some durabilities are just waaay too low

Or the haphazard level design especially when it comes to enemy placements and the sheer number of enemies at any given time (which is also something you see in a lot of this game‘s bosses). Prime example being the Frozen Outskirts with it’s reindeers from hell, or the runback for the blue kool-aid man. DS2 also has some of the worst bosses in the souls series with the Belfry Gargoyles, Prowling Magus and Congregation, Covetous Demon, the Royal Rat Authority and Vanguard, Lud and Zallen, both of the Dragonrider fights, the Ancient Dragon as a couple examples. And let’s not forget that DS2 also has some of the worst hitboxes out of any fromsoft game, as primarily seen in the Ancient Dragon and the Smelter Demons. Lastly, there’s also the game’s general affinity for gimmicks. Like the timed torches, the slow Estus Flask, Mytha‘s arena, Lost Sinner‘s arena, the Executioner’s Chariot, the Fume Knight’s wedges, the Adaptability stat in general, and a lot more. (I actually see most of these things as a positive, but a lot of people bring these up to criticize the game, so I felt like I should at least mention them). Honestly, when compared to all that, the limited weapon durability is like a drop in the bucket.
The most insane part about the durability system in BOTW was that even the master sword had a durability system on it. It had like an iphone battery in it that was only good for like a quarter of a boss healthbar. It just becomes unswingable.
at least it was the only weapon with a reasonable version of the durability mechanic💀 i think if all the weapons only needed to be repaired rather than completely falling apart people would be less angry about it (though ik the master sword doesnt need to get repaired and it just recharges yk what i mean)

Cool little fact, the reason the highland axe does so much damage during the godrick fight is that the highland axe has an intrinsic buff to charged attack damage.

Mod should've made weapons have no weight and auto feed into your right hand. If you can't pause the game to switch weapons or implement the other gameplay systems that were crucial for the durability system to work properly, such as being able to disarm your opponent to take their weapon or being able to acquire/make new weapons mid fight so you never run out, then that is the next best thing

Fun fact the Stormhawk talon is a 1% drop rate weapon, and my favorite straight sword. The broadsword (and longsword on most stat builds) will always have much higher ar no matter your build but those heavy attacks are so fun and it looks better. If only it was a smidge longer... But yeah it's probably not what you want for this challenge run.
I love how quickly he develops a strategy of letting enemies blow each other up with bombs and barrels or having them hit each other. This is more BotW/TotK than I could've imagined.
This wouldnt be as bad if weapons would break at the same rate as Zelda games. 3 hits is the exaggerated version but it would be fair to have weapons break around 12-15 hits
I'm somewhere in the middle for durability. 2 made it interesting because it had weapons that were high damage for their class but low durability so it played around with the idea, while I feel like 3 just had it in for some reason. I mean hell limit breakers showed a video posted a video about breaking armor in 3 and basically said you be dead and out of healing many times over by the time your armor broke. Basically it was just a trivial stat. It was always fun in 2 when you were in pvp and a battle ran on for a while to hear someones ring break and suddenly they are fat rolling.

If you're using the same weapon system, you should be able to pause mid fight to change weapons
Stick the master sword into the Elden beast for a few thousand years and it will have infinite durability.
